Colorado Rep. Diana DeGette, the lead democratic sponsor of a Federal Bill to ban high-capacity magazines, is apparently unaware that such magazines can be reloaded and reused. The basis for her arguement was that by banning high capacity magazines, eventually "the bullets will have been shot, and there won't be anymore available"

This is why it is important for Patriots to involve themselves with politics. By refusing to participate we put ourselves in the position of being governed by,...well,..by idiots!

Attend a City Council meeting and learn how they operate. Be heard, and encourage others to do the same!

"I will tell you these are ammunition, they're bullets, so the people who have those now they're going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won't be any more available."

Obama's gun control is going down and he is blaming Republicans and "constraints by the Founding Fathers". That's right--he openly blames the Constitution as well as Republicans. His spin is still dishonest as ever because it is Senate Democrats up for 2014 races balking at a vote for Second Amendment infringements. Above all, Obama wants to blame Republicans (for something) so he has a new strategy--add a poison pill of lackluster border protection to immigration reform that is developing so he can blame Republicans for halted progress. More and more people are beginning to see the left-wing manipulator whose words cannot be trusted. ObamaCare revealed the truth and here it is again.

America’s Death Zones: Where NOT To Be When It Hits the Fan...
    April 05, 2013

(By Marc Slavo, SHTFplan.com) - As the potential for a globally destabilizing event becomes ever more probable, many concerned Americans are starting to wonder where they’d go if the worst were to happen.

To help answer that question, we can start by identifying the areas of the country to avoid.

The following map of the United States takes into account all of the gun related deaths since the Sandy Hook school shooting. You’ll likely notice that there is one common denominator. The majority of the violence has occurred in major metropolitan areas, with some incidents spreading into outlying ex-urban and rural areas. As of this writing 2,244 people have been killed since December of 2012. http://data.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/gun-deaths

If this is the state of our nation during relative peacetime and perceived prosperity, imagine what it’ll look like in the midst of financial, economic or political turmoil.

Americans living east of the Mississippi River will likely experience the brunt of it. But anyone residing in and around any major U.S. city will, likewise, have a tough road ahead of them.

If you live in one of these red zones, you’d better plan accordingly:

As you may have guessed, the overwhelming factor in determining your chances of survival during a wide-scale regional or national emergency will be population density, a topic that has been extensively covered by Strategic Relocation specialist Joel Skousen: http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-new...movie_11162012

…every crisis that threatens, even a local crisis, can turn exponential because of close proximity to people who cannot help themselves. Even good people panic in a crisis…
Wherever we find large groups of people, when crisis strikes we will also find the worst that mankind has to offer – rioting, looting, starvation and violence.

Survival expert James Rawles refers to them as the golden horde; the thousands of people who will be desperate for supplies, shelter and safety in the aftermath of a major catastrophe: http://www.survivalblog.com/2008/08/...-the-thin.html

…there is just a thin veneer of civilization on our society. What is underneath is not pretty, and it does take much to peel away that veneer. You take your average urbanite or suburbanite and get him excessively cold, wet, tired, hungry and/or thirsty and take away his television, beer, drugs, and other pacifiers, and you will soon seen the savage within. It is like peeling the skin of an onion—remove a couple of layers and it gets very smelly. (Survival Blog)
Given the probability of the United States succumbing to any number of devastating catastrophes that may include an economic collapse, food shortages, pandemic, regional earthquakes, solar storms, or war, there is ample motivation for those with the means to do so to get out of densely populated areas of the country. Likewise, living in locales with close proximity to major thoroughfares such as interstate highway systems could pose a danger as the ‘horde’ evacuates disaster-struck areas.

For many, relocation is not possible because of job requirements or other factors. Thus, those of us who are left with no choice but to remain in populated urban or sub-urban areas, it is strongly recommended that you consider preparedness planning for staying put, or bugging in, during an emergency. It’s not the ideal scenario, but if you plan on hunkering down then you may find it advantageous to have food stores and other long-term supplies, as well as home defense plans. And, should things get so bad that you have to leave your primary residence, be sure to have evacuation plans in place.

The U.S. government is actively preparing to deal with the aftermath of many of the possible crises cited above, namely the civil unrest that will follow. Police and military units are training to deal specifically with urban scenarios because emergency services planners understand that America’s metropolitan death zones will be completely devoid of law & order.

If you’re in one of these areas, and plan on staying during a major crisis, take steps now to prepare for the inevitability of mass chaos.

Gabby Giffords falsely implies that her shooter evaded a background check

Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ op-ed piece is getting a lot of praise on Twitter. This is the part of the piece that caught our attention: http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/g...#ixzz2PmfLJ03p

What they will do is create one fair system for all gun buyers, instead of the giant loophole we have now. Right now, we have one system where responsible gun owners take a background check — my husband, Mark, took one just last month, and it took 5 minutes and 36 seconds. I remember waiting a lot longer than that for the subway to take me to my office when I lived in New York City! And then we have a second system for those who don’t want to take a background check. Those people — criminals, or people suffering from mental illness, like the young man who shot me — can buy as many guns as they want on the Internet or at a gun show, no questions asked.

That doesn’t make sense. We know how to fix it — by establishing a universal background check system. And yet some of our elected officials are not listening. Some even say this legislation shouldn’t get a vote in the United States Congress.

    [Emphasis added.]
Giffords seems to be implying that her shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, didn’t undergo a background check. This is not true. Loughner obtained the gun legally, and he passed a background check. http://www.pressherald.com/news/nati...011-01-12.html

If our background check system doesn’t flag mentally ill people like Loughner, Alice Boland, and Virginia Tech shooter Seung-Hui Cho, something is obviously wrong. http://www.scribd.com/doc/125350089/...A-Gun-Timeline http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seung-Hui_Cho

Before expanding the existing system, wouldn’t it make more sense to ensure that our current background checks are implemented properly?

Man who escaped Castro’s Cuba speaks at Oregon gun control hearing:
‘You people don’t know what freedom is because you never lost it’

    By Doug Powers • April 8, 2013 02:32 PM

Forty years ago, Manuel Martinez escaped communist Cuba and became an American citizen. Last week, Martinez spoke extemporaneously at a hearing in the Oregon state legislature, where debate took place over four proposed gun bills.

Video and partial transcript below (full transcript here http://daylightdisinfectant.com/comm...at-freedom-is/ ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=N1ABw6IMKn0

My name is Manuel Martinez. Born in Cuba. American Citizen for more than 40 years. I oppose any manipulation, any regulation or disruption of the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

In 1957 a Revolution … individuals … malicious individuals, masquerading as Democrats, revolutionaries, established a regime … a dictatorial regime … in my nation. Called Communism, Socialism, Stalinism, Marxism, and whatever other named -ism you want to put on it. The reason why it was done was to take away the guns from the People. The right of the People to wear guns. That is a God-given Right. It’s not given by anybody. It’s not given by any group. It’s the same thing as freedom, which is a God-given Right. And no one, absolutely no one, has the authority to take it away. To cease to defend the Second Amendment, and my God-given Right of freedom, will cease only with my death.

I’ve been through it. I’ve been there. You people don’t know what freedom is because you never lost it.
Dan Sandini, who was at the hearing, writes: http://daylightdisinfectant.com/comm...at-freedom-is/

I can assure you even the Liberal hacks in the press pool were visibly shaken. The expressions on the Senators faces … well they spoke for themselves (I’ve included a few stll shots here). I’d wager no one in room did not feel a chill up their spine, or a tear in the corner of their eye, as Martinez described scenes of sons being torn from their mothers arms, and shot dead in the street, because they lacked the means to protect themselves. He spoke from the heart: no notes or teleprompter required.
Too bad Mr. Martinez and this former Tiananmen Square activist http://hotair.com/archives/2013/01/2...ond-amendment/ aren’t available to speak at every one of the hearings around the country. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=miEmIfhfxuc

Tiananmen Square activist speaks up for the Second Amendment
    January 22, 2013 by Allahpundit

If you missed this at Townhall, Weasel Zippers, Ace’s site, or the dozens of other conservative blogs that have posted it in the last few days, make time. (If you can’t spare seven minutes, Blog O’ Stuff has the transcript. http://blogostuff.blogspot.com/2013/...st-turned.html ) One gun-control argument I’ve always had trouble understanding, never more so than now, is the idea that millions of citizens armed with pistols and rifles as a bulwark against tyranny might as well give those weapons up because they’re no match for a modern military with tanks and planes. Really? Since when is guerrilla warfare a sure loser, even against a sophisticated, well-equipped army? Until the Awakening changed the dynamic in Anbar province, Iraqi Sunnis were doing okay holding out against the world’s hyperpower. The Taliban crawls on to this day after 11 years of war in Afghanistan and may well end up back in control once the U.S. finally gives up and withdraws. The point of Petraeus-style counterinsurgency doctrine, I thought, is that even the most well-trained, well-equipped force can’t pacify a population through brute strength. It’s one thing to believe worrying about martial law here is silly, it’s another to believe that an attempt at martial law would inevitably succeed.

Anyway. After you watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=miEmIfhfxuc head over to Legal Insurrection and watch a veteran speak up for the Second Amendment at a town hall in Illinois. http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/01...nti-gun-forum/

Veteran stands up for 2nd Amendment at Chicago anti-gun forum
    (Update — interview with Vet)

Posted by Anne Sorock Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 12:56pm

The forum, despite having been marketed by the organizers from the New Trier Democrats as a “space for real conversation,” had until then allowed for anything but discussion. Countless snide remarks and dubious facts were placed on powerpoint slides as the audience, largely filled with NRA supporters, were repeatedly “shushed” and told to write any questions down for a later Q&A.

Still, as time went on, and especially after speaker Bill Jenkins placed a photograph of Nazi paraphernalia on the screen with the caption, “this is what a gun show looks like,” and after he had put a picture of a chihuahua with the words “this is what I think the NRA really is” up, the crowd had nearly had it.

Finally, when panelist Lee Goodman of the Stop Concealed Carry Coalition responded to a question about the original reasons for including the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights by saying “it didn’t matter [what their intentions were],” it was enough for the combat veteran to speak up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=7C44B55YYLQ

Veteran: Sir, sir. While you’re standing up. I’ve sat here [inaudible] and I’d like to agree with the professor. Everyone standing in this room right now, especially the veterans in the room right now, know, that we are all Americans. The problem with this country right now is it’s us and it’s f***ing them. We need to stop this cr-p.

Now, the thing I would like you to answer, sir. And I did go to war for this country. Whether it was for everyone in here’s ability to have oil and gas in their cars, or the banks, or whatever. I went to war for my country.

And I went to war for your ability to have the First Amendment, to say what you stood up there and said today, to write what you want to write in your newspaper, and have whatever opinion you want to have. You can practice whatever religious freedoms you want. I would like you to answer the question, since you just said that one of the rights that I went to war over to defend, that is inalienable, to every American citizen. If this discussion was going on, about your First Amendment rights, would you still have the same opinion that we don’t need that any more either.

Goodman: You didn’t hear my answer….that’s not what I said…I said it doesn’t matter what their reasons are, what matters is whether or not it’s relevant today.

Audience member: It’s an eternal truth, an eternal truth….

Goodman: When they consider any part of the Constitution, any law, they’re going to say, “what does it mean today?”

    Audience: NO!

Veteran: The threat of tyranny, today, is no less than at the turn of the century in 1900, in 1800, or in 1700!
Reporter Kathy Routliffe of the Wilmette Life described the event as a “raucous afternoon of anti-gun control activists heckling and jeering at panelists.” If only Routliffe had chosen to provide her readers with the panelists’ inflammatory remarks that led up to the combat veteran’s speech. http://wilmette.suntimes.com/1770230...-audience.html

(WAJ adds — The image above reminds me of Norman Rockwell’s Freedom of Speech painting)

Update 1-24-2013 — Meet Kevin Tully – Vet who passionately defended 2nd Amendment at anti-gun event http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/01...nti-gun-event/

And additional video at An Army of Davy Crocketts and Annie Oakleys http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/01...annie-oakleys/

    http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/01...nti-gun-forum/

After enduring hours of derision and mockery by the panelists at a Chicago-area guns “forum” Sunday, one man in the audience stood up and addressed the crowd, identified himself as a veteran, and proceeded to give a straightforward but passionate defense of his support for the First and Second Amendments.

PTR Industries, producers of many popular semi-automatic rifles, just announced that they will be leaving their state of Connecticut following the passage of new gun control legislation. PTR issued a press release stating:

"The rights of the citizens of CT have been trampled upon. The safety of its children is at best questionably improved from the day of the tragedy that triggered the events that lead us here. Finally, due to an improperly drafted bill, manufacturing of modern sporting rifles in the State of CT has been effectively outlawed. With a heavy heart but a clear mind, we have been forced to decide that our business can no longer survive in Connecticut -the former Constitution state."
PTR Industries has not announced where the company will relocate, though they have stated the plan on having a site identified within the next six weeks.

Biden mocks gun skeptics: ‘We’re going to swoop down with Special Forces folks and gather up every gun in America’
    Posted on April 9, 2013

During a gun control speech today at the White House, Vice President Joe Biden mocked the “black helicopter crowd” for opposing the idea of universal background checks for Americans purchasing guns. “Kinda scary man, the black helicopter crowd is really upset,” Biden said, criticizing the National Rifle Association for promoting a “misinformation campaign” on background checks. Biden insisted that there would be no central registry for background checks allowing government to keep records on gun owners. “No way that Uncle Sam can go find out whether you own a gun because we’re about to really take away all your rights and you’re not going to be able to defend yourself and we’re going to swoop down with Special Forces folks and gather up every gun in America,” Biden added mockingly. “It’s bizarre. But that’s what’s being sold out there.” The Examiner http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2526679

Biden insisted that there would be no central registry for background checks allowing government to keep records on gun owners
Then what would be the point of a registry ?
