    Obama to Americans:

You don’t deserve what you’ve earned
    July 15, 2012

Here’s The Smartest President Ever, speaking in Roanoke on Friday and writing Romney’s next ad for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j8Xh...layer_embedded

Sure sounds like he’s channelling Elizabeth Warren. And in case you think that’s taken out of context, here’s what he said: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-...anoke-virginia

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

Barack Obama openly stokes bitter resentment against Americans who work hard, take risks, and create jobs.

    But at least he’s “likable”!

I didn't build my own businesses? So all that menial work I suffered though to save up money to start my first business wasn't from my hard work and I owe some one else? Those teachers who got paid to teach me didn't make enough so I have to have that money I make taken from me? Why do I pay property taxes? Why do teachers need more money if they did fine when they made less?

The only people I owe are the land management company, utility companies, state and local taxes, federal taxes, employee taxes, employee pay.... F him I pay enough all ready.

    ....

How can anyone listen to the collectivist - redistribution of wealth nonsense this POS spews and still deny he is a marxist? Obama is just a temporary problem. The fact that we will still have an electorate capable of electing this fool is a huge problem.

    ...

The reason that kind of rationalization is faulty is because there are no absolutes with it. One could use that line of thinking to justify anything, to guilt anybody into doing anything. Well, I wouldn't be here without the help of my parents; the doctor; nurses; babysitters; teachers; etc....but that doesn't mean I'm obligated to giving them a percentage of my earnings for the rest of my life.

It rejects individuality and assumes a communal or collectivist attitude. It crosses the line from encouraging selflessness and volunteerism to psychological and emotional manipulation. If some wealthy people feel like they should give back to the public then that's their own bag, but it shouldn't be used as a premise or precedent to steal from everyone. What a roundabout, gutless way to tear down the foundations from which this country was constructed on.

Plus, on one hand they say they want complete freedom to do whatever they want with their own body, and on the other they claim that no person is an island. Their rationalizations always seem to contradict themselves.

They take extreme liberties with the human conscience as long as they can manuever it to play into their socialistic/communistic agenda, but have no respect for it otherwise.

    ...

In fairness, Obama's speech can be read in a less disturbing way:

"Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that [the roads and bridges]. Somebody else made that happen.

The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

Don't get me wrong. What Obama says is bad enough.

Obama actually says that the collective is a partner in your business because it provides roads. You would have no customers without roads. So, you are only in business because of what the collective did for you.

Then, Obama pre-emptively attacks the idea that a business doesn't need roads if it has the internet. Too bad, the government also developed the internet.

By the way, the "internet" was a small, high speed network run by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) connecting government laboratories. Tim Berners Lee designed and implemented the communication protocol HTML (HyperText Markup Language), and his idea took off.

This early network prohibited commercial use and advertising. The government had almost nothing to do with the modern design, expansion, and use of the Internet.

Obama is repeating a vicious excuse for expropriating the work of citizens.

Leftist: We would all be better off if you would be reasonable. Please give us all of your money for the greater good.

Citizen: No way, I earned my wealth. I created my wealth.

Leftist: Do you understand that you would be nothing without government? We built the streets, kept the law, regulated away the things that would have killed you as a child, and supported your education. You are lucky to be smart, unlike most others, yet you won't share what we supported in you.

Citizen: You already take 40% in taxes.

Leftist: As you can see, our society is in decline. We need the rest.

    Citizen: No way.

Leftist: You are a selfish and ignorant man. Why can't you meet us half way?

The government happens to construct roads and utilities, but citizens have already paid for these through taxes. Government agencies protect us, but we don't therefore owe the government everything. A free man can arrange a better deal than that. Of course, a slave has no such option.

Obama: Business owners don’t grow businesses, everyone else does! Or something…
Posted by: Phineas on July 14, 2012 at 6:28 pm

Continuing to display the deep economic knowledge of the Democratic Socialist who’s never been outside the ivory towers of academia and government http://www.nationalreview.com/articl...-stanley-kurtz President Obama last night explained to us bitter-clingers how wealth is created: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-...anoke-virginia

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
Remember that, folks. If you built a successful business, you had nothing to do with it. The long hours you put in and the pleasures you deferred were immaterial. It was all the government, so hand over more tax money, you ungrateful, selfish wretch.

Now, I’m not one who says government has no role, or that no taxes are ever justified. Building roads, creating infrastructure, establishing the rule of law and providing access to courts to seek redress — all this plays a role. But Obama’s argument sounds like a statist’s economic version of “Field of Dreams” — if you build it, wealth will come.

Sorry, Barack. It just doesn’t work that way.

Jazz Shaw at Hot Air thinks Obama is channeling Fauxcahontas Elizabeth Warren, who famously said something equally ignorant. http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives...ch-on-his-own/ But I think Jim Pethokoukis hits the mark: https://twitter.com/JimPethokoukis/s...59865567174657

Beyond the frightening collectivist tinge of the statement, Obama clearly has NO IDEA why economies grow over the long term.
Yep. He’s clueless about how wealth is created, as is most of his cabinet. As I’ve often said, when one becomes a liberal Democrat, it must be a requirement to surrender all knowledge of economics.

This November, let’s elect someone who has a clue.

The scary thing is he actually believes this crap but mainly because he has leeched off others as a way of life. And how would he know how businesses operate anyway? This presidential gig is the first paying job he has ever held in his entire wretched existence.

    ..

It’s not the first paying gig he’s ever had, Drew, but he’s still never had a job where he actually had to produce a product, and that’s at the crux of his philosophy: As long as money changes hands from the producer to the bureaucrat (any level, local to national) where the bureaucrat is responsible for deciding what that money will be used for (gosh, this feels like it would fit very nicely into my already-bloated government payroll!), this is a good thing.

It is our job to put our country out of its current misery by removing the disease that offends it, this November (assuming King Ralph-on-us-All allows the election).

    ..

I wish if someone else built my business they would get in here and take over for the night, I’m ready for bed. Where is my replacement. Obama is so far out in left field he doesn’t have any idea how a business is run.

    ..

if government is responsible for all of the successful businesses then doesn’t it follow that the government is responsible for all of the failed businesses too? and isn’t there at least 3 times as many failures in business than there are successes? that doesn’t sound like a very good track record to me. :-?

    ..

Obama’s message: class envy. Each and every member of my audience, every one of you true believers, could have been a contender. Re-elect me and we’ll grab hold of those special little people that are not you and make them pay for it.

    ..

There are a lot of small business owners in my hubby’s family. I know they would be incessed to hear that they didn’t succeed on their own, h€ll, they believe they have succeeded IN SPITE of all the government obstacles, rules and multiplying regulations. And probably would have failed if Obamacare had been the law of the land while they were still in the start-up stage… Pshaw!

    ..

And to think I was mocked back in ’08 when I proclaimed Barry was a Marxist.

#BarackObamaDidItForThem: More citizens answer Obama’s ‘you didn’t build that’ business slam

Posted at 2:58 pm on July 16, 2012 by Twitchy Staff

    el SOOPer@SooperMexican
The Wright Brothers didn't invent the first successful airplane... #BarackObamaDidItForThem

As Twitchy reported this weekend, President Obama upped his sneering contempt for business owners and entrepreneurship recently. He told them that if they have a business, they “didn’t build that. Someone else made that happen.” Yesterday, small business owners responded by trying to teach President Obama a little something about business, being that he knows absolutely nothing about business nor even about meeting a payroll. Wearing big boy pants is hard!

Citizens, small business owners among them, are still fuming today. And rightly so; President Obama’s sneering contempt and the scorn he holds for business is shake fisty beyond belief. The worst part is that it was not something gaffe-tastic; it is what he truly believes. He believes that government, not individuals, is paramount. He believes that The State should run all and pesky people should just get out of the way and shaddup. Entrepreneurship is bad, because it is individual and not collective-based.

Well, small business owners refuse to talk to President Obama’s dismissive hand and they are fighting back.

    @SpeakerBoehner

.@NFIB CEO: What disappointment to hear President's comments challenging the significance of America’s entrepreneurs bit.ly/MtwEXd
More from the National Federation of Independent Business’s statement:

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 16, 2012 — The following statement is the response from NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner to President Obama’s declaration over the weekend that “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

“What a disappointment to hear President Obama’s revealing comments challenging the significance of America’s entrepreneurs.

“His unfortunate remarks over the weekend show an utter lack of understanding and appreciation for the people who take a huge personal risk and work endless hours to start a business and create jobs.

“I’m sure every small-business owner who took a second mortgage on their home, maxed out their credit cards or borrowed money from their own retirement savings to start their business disagrees strongly with President Obama’s claim. They know that hard work does matter.

“Every small business is not indebted to the government or some other benefactor. If anything, small businesses are historically an economic and job-creating powerhouse in spite of the government.”
Bingo. The president would have you believe that these people sacrificed nothing and should, instead, kiss the hem of the government’s garment (probably made in China). Kowtow to The State, ingrates! Without it, you’d be nothing. Never mind the blood, sweat and tears that you invested, along with your own hard-earned cash, in your business. President Obama and The State did it for you, rubes! And, so, #BarackObamaDidItForThem was born, out of mockery.

That’s another Teachable Moment for you, President Obama. Perhaps you need to hold a summit with people who know what they are talking about, lest you “act stupidly” again.

Small business owners have done more, and will continue to do more, for individuals and families than the government ever could. These business owners, and builders, are Americans who don’t posture. Instead, they take action, work hard and strive to do what needs to be done. The businesses that they create result in far more good than big government’s failed programs ever will. These entrepreneurs are people who employ others; enriching them and their families in ways that The State cannot. These hard-working and enterprising people beat themselves up every time they are forced to lay someone off due to the incessant interference and constant screw-ups by the government. The very same government, currently “led” by President Obama, that is now smugly dismissing them and blatantly ridiculing and mocking them.

You know what else? The government didn’t build itself; someone else made that happen — We, the people. And you work for us, not the other way around.

Romney’s excellent speech (with video links)

    By Michelle Malkin • July 17, 2012 03:09 PM

I’ve been tough on Mitt Romney and leaned hard on his campaign to take the gloves off, get in the fighting spirit, and push back against Obama narratives. Today in Irwin, Pennsylvania, Romney delivered.

The Right Scoop has both excerpts and full speech video clips. http://www.therightscoop.com/soon-wa...-pennsylvania/

As I noted on Twitter during the speech earlier this afternoon, Romney impressed with both the substance and the delivery of his rallying cry on behalf of individual achievement and free enterprise. He was energetic and passionate.

I believed in what he was selling: A vision for restoring American greatness and defending success.

Obama’s inability to hide his ideological contempt for entrepreneurs & individual success has helped Romney self-actualize.

If he gives this speech with the same zeal and optimism from now until November — offering a clear, unapologetic contrast to Barack Obama’s bitter politics of resentment, class warfare, and entitlement, Mitt Romney will win.

    http://michellemalkin.com/2012/07/17...h-video-links/

More praise for Romney’s speech here. http://twitchy.com/2012/07/17/fired-...reedom-speech/

At last: Romney camp says it won’t treat Obama as “nice guy” anymore

    By Michelle Malkin • July 18, 2012 10:07 AM

Well, it’s about damned time. I am breaking about a Halleljuah Chorus for today’s great news. Who’s up for Andrea Bocelli belting out Handel? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5ASc...layer_embedded

Via left-leaning Buzzfeed, Team Romney finally concedes that Obama is not a “nice guy.” http://www.buzzfeed.com/mckaycoppins...ake-the-gloves

The Mitts are off. At last!

Standing before hundreds of roaring partisans in this sweltering Pittsburgh suburb Tuesday, Mitt Romney delivered a 30-minute speech that sounded, at times, like a greatest hits compilation of his favorite Obama-knocking stump speech lines. The president was, Romney said, “out of ideas,” and “looking for someone to blame,” and a “crony capitalist.”

One thing he was not: “A nice guy.”

In speeches from Des Moines to Dallas, Romney has always been careful to hedge his tough digs at Obama with a civil nod toward the president’s moral character: “He’s a nice guy,” the Republican has often said. “He just has no idea how the private economy works.” But Tuesday’s speech included no such hedge — and one campaign adviser said there’s a reason for that.

“[Romney] has said Obama’s a nice fellow, he’s just in over his head,” the adviser said. “But I think the governor himself believes this latest round of attacks that have impugned his integrity and accused him of being a felon go so far beyond that pale that he’s really disappointed. He believes it’s time to vet the president. He really hasn’t been vetted; McCain didn’t do it.”

…”I mean, this is a guy who admitted to cocaine use, had a sweetheart deal with his house in Chicago, and was associated and worked with Rod Blagojevich to get Valerie Jarrett appointed to the Senate,” the adviser said. “The bottom line is there’ll be counterattacks.”

    The nagging paid off:

July 12, 2012 Not such a “nice guy” anymore, huh? http://michellemalkin.com/2012/07/12...y-anymore-huh/

April 20, 2012 No More “Mr. Obama Is a Nice Guy” http://michellemalkin.com/2012/04/20...is-a-nice-guy/

I said it the other night on Hannity and my column today fleshes out my point: The “Obama is a nice guy” narrative is a loser. Contrary to conventional wisdom, this election is not just about jobs. It’s about character, values, judgment, and integrity, too. It’s about the wholesale fraud that the Oba-messiah has perpetrated against the American people. Surrendering the likability issue is not only politically dumb, but also just plain lazy. Ignoring false memes is bad enough. Perpetuating them for civility’s sake is a recipe for another defeat.

Video flashback: Get the “Obama is a nice guy” talking point out of your mouths! http://nation.foxnews.com/michelle-m...utters-hannity

So he’s FINALLY figured out the guy who said “if they bring a knife we bring a gun” and told his followers to “get in their faces” ain’t a nice guy!! There’s hope for this party yet.

    ...

everybody who questions obama will be called a racist, so he is in a no win situation. he might as well just go for the jugular, and not worry about the press, they are in the tank 100% for obama. nothing mitt will ever say can change that.

    ..

We need those words to come out of Romney’s mouth, not that of an unnamed adviser. He should be going on attack and forcing the story back on Obama rather than respond to Obama attacks. Just hammer away non-stop on Obama over missing records, shady associations, dirty money, crony capitalism, suspicious deaths, anything and everything. Just keep it coming. And name names.

And by “others,” note the hand gesture is an “O.”

Note the strangeness of the political rhetoric. Note how the logic is tilted.
