    two words - DEATH PENALTY.

4 Month Old Baby Raped To Death
After Mother Invited Boyfriend To Come Sexually Torture Her

    February 26, 2014

If you’re having one of those moments where you’re wondering if evil really exists, the answer is yes, it does. And if you need proof, you’ll find it in Missouri, where 25-year-old Jessica Lynn Howell invited her boyfriend, whom she knew to be a pedophile, to have sex with her four-month-old daughter. Baby Ashlynn died after Jordan Lafayette Prince sexually tortured and then strangled her to death.

Jordan Prince, age 25 at the time, was already a registered sex offender, but was dating Jessica Lynn Howard–the mother of 4-month-old Ashlynn. Knowing full well exactly what he was, she still invited him, not only over to her house, but to sexually molest, rape, and, in the end, kill her own daughter.

According to St. Charles County Prosecutor, Tim Lohmar, parents are supposed to be the first line of defense when when it comes to protecting their children from vile offenders–sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case here. In fact, it was actually Howard that invited Prince over via text message.

Lohmar conveys that unfortunately for him, having to see the things necessary to prosecute someone like Prince, there’s just no way to ever forget something so infuriatingly graphic. Add to this the text messages that Howard sent personally inviting Prince over to specifically commit the heinous crimes, its enough to make your stomach churn. (CAUTION: GRAPHIC):

According to the Probable Cause Statement obtained by Mr. Conservative, it inaccurately outlined the events of that night as described by Mr. Prince. The report describes that Prince was there “watching the infant at 1130 hrs,” and he increasingly “became frustrated when the infant wouldn’t stop crying.” Admitting that he, “handled the infant in a cruel manner and rougher than he should have,” he explains that he, “choked the infant with his hand then left the child on its side on a loveseat.” An hour later, he came back to find the baby unresponsive.

According to the statement, he then called the authorities who arrived and flew the infant to Cardinal Glennon Hospital where she was pronounced dead on the scene. Discovered to have passed at around 1200 hrs, her death was ruled a homicide.

As with all murder victims, the infant’s corpse was subject to an autopsy exam that determined the exact cause of Ashlynn’s death. The autopsy report painted a different picture than the account given by Prince saying Ashlynn spent her last few minutes on this earth in excruciating pain at the hands of Prince. The report outlined (CAUTION: GRAPHIC):

“Ashlynn was sexually assaulted causing multiple tears to her anus, a massive laceration to her rectum with massive hematoma in the area of the pelvis. The injuries to her anus and rectum of Ashlynn were sufficient to eventually cause her death even without the strangulation.”
Since that time, both Prince and Howard have been arrested and charged with multiple crimes each. Julie Vomund, media spokeswoman for the Prosecutor’s office, spoke exclusively with Mr. Conservative. During that time she informed us that Prince was facing 3 charges consisting of, “murder in the 1st degree, abuse of a child resulting in death, and forcible sodomy.”

He is currently being represented by a public defender by the name of Heather Donovan. We also reached out to Ms. Donovan several times but failed to get a response.

Ms. Vomund also informed us that, “his case has a jury trial set for May 6 with a pretrial hearing set for April 24. The April 24 court date should help us determine if the case will go on the May date.” If it does proceed to the May date, the courtroom has been reserved for the next three days in anticipation of the in-depth trial that will unfold.

There is no word yet on what the maximum sentence that Prince would get for such an atrocity, but similar cases have resulted in the death penalty. If you were unaware, Missouri is a state that seeks and carries out the death penalty. Similar cases involving the rape and murder of a younger girl have resulted in such an outcome.

You can read about that here. http://missourideathrow.com/

Seeing how Ashlynn’s case seems to pale the previous one in comparison, the death penalty seems to be a likely option that prosecutors may seek to pursue. The only shame would be Mr. Prince being allowed to slowly drift into an unconscious state before peacefully passing away.

The only thing that should be done to these two pieces of shit is to lock them in general population, make an announcement to all the inmates about what they are there for, tell the inmates that all the cameras will be turned off, and let them take out all their anger and frustration on this garbage. Let them torture these two to death like they did to that poor baby.. That is the only thing they deserve... There is no need to spend one cent

    ..

This is an extension of "Roe V Wade" ... A baby isn't a bay - it is a choice - a disposable "object" for the female to throw away at her convience. The "Pro-Choice" crowd is making a case for "post-partum abortions" and this would be their icon. SICK

Reserve couple goes on tirade during sentencing in death of son
September 15, 2014 6:11 PM CDT Written by: Sabrina Wilson

EDGARD, LA (WVUE) - A Reserve couple screamed and hurled insults in court as they were being sentenced Monday in the death of their 8-year-old son. "It's wrong! Gotta put the judge in jail, the prosecutor in jail, the lead detective," said Errol Victor as he was led out of the courthouse following the proceedings. He was as defiant outside as he had been inside the building.

A jury convicted Victor and his wife, Tonya Otkins Victor, last month in the death of Tonya Victor's biological son, M.L. Lloyd III. "Having defendants act out in court is certainly something that's not unheard of, a lot of the individuals going through the criminal justice system are deeply troubled," said attorney and Loyola Law School professor Dane Ciolino.

Judge Mary Hotard Becnel gave Errol Victor the mandatory life sentence that Louisiana law requires for anyone convicted of second-degree murder. His wife was found guilty of manslaughter.

Errol Victor repeatedly interrupted the proceedings with comments and insulting words aimed at the judge and the female prosecutor, and he verbally discounted the sentencing that was about to take place. "We are not slaves, we don't belong to the state of Louisiana. Our child doesn't belong to the state of Louisiana. He was our property. He belonged to us," he said at one point.

"It's an absolutely absurd proposition from the husband, but from his standpoint it really didn't matter," Ciolino said of Errol Victor's rant.

Immediately after Errol Victor was sentenced and taken out of the courtroom, his wife was brought in and the courtroom drama intensified as she cried and yelled almost incessantly. "My husband is not an animal, I'm not an animal...we are hurt, we have a loss," she said.

Becnel had wide discretion in sentencing Tonya Victor. She could have given her between 10 and 40 years for the manslaughter conviction.

The judge said the couple showed no remorse. "It was apparent to most of us from the evidence, as well as your behavior throughout the court process, that you were under some type of control by your husband at the time of the crime, and you appear to continue to be under some control or influence of your husband," said the judge to Tonya Victor.

Victor became more out of control as the judge said she failed her son as a mother. Victor then screamed and tried to walk out of the courtroom, saying she would not listen to the judge. "Don't tell me I failed my child. You're not going to tell me that I failed. Do what you got to do," she said.

Eventually, female officers in the courtroom held Tonya Victor down in a chair to keep her in the court proceedings. "Her outbursts, her lack of contrition got her exactly what the judge planned to give her when she went in there, when the judge went in there to impose sentence," said Ciolino.

Tonya Victor was sentenced to 21 years in prison, but she could be paroled in seven to 11 years.

Sara Gershen of the Family Service of Greater New Orleans said the Victors' other children will need a strong support system. "Hopefully, they have support of other family members, other people, teachers, neighbors, other supports, because it sounds like maybe they were kind of isolated in this family," stated Gershen.

Gershen said the children will need help now and much later in their lives. "I hope that people will support them, and not kind of judge, you know, they had no control over this situation," she said.

Errol Victor's tirade continued as he was being placed in the police car. "All these women, put them in jail, it's fraud, it's fraud, it's fraud!" he yelled.

Reserve parents deny killing their 8-year-old son, M.L. Lloyd III

At 12:40 p.m. on April 1, 2008, 8-year-old M.L. Lloyd III was pronounced dead at River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace. But in a case that shocked the small community of Reserve, his parents - who were arrested and charged with his murder - and prosecutors have told differing accounts of the events that brought M.L. to the hospital that day and ultimately led to his death.

The child's death certificate lists "asphyxia due to neck compression" as the immediate cause of death and his autopsy notes widespread fresh bruising and indicates that he was beaten and dragged after his death. Authorities have said that they believe M.L. could have been dead for two hours before he arrived at the emergency room.

But Tonya and Errstol Victor, speaking out publicly together for the first time since their arrest nearly three years ago, say they did not cause their son's death and that he was alive and talking to them on the way to the hospital. They say M.L. died after an asthma attack that may have been set off by a fight with his brothers, which caused the bruising.

A St. John the Baptist Parish jury is set to decide which side it believes beginning Aug. 16.

    Blended family

The Victors are a blended family. When Errol and Tonya Victor met seven years ago, she had five sons from a previous marriage and he had six. The couple later had two more sons together.

Tonya Victor was a stay-at-home mom, raising the boys and helping her husband with several business ventures, including a used-car lot and a real estate company. Tonya Victor said that her sons' fathers had little involvement in their lives. She said she did her best as a single parent but that the boys often got in fights and had behavior problems in school. She said she and her husband had been struggling to get the behavior problems under control and had begun home-schooling her sons, along with the rest of the boys. Errol Victor said he had always had a "no-whipping" policy in his house but that rule had been bent in an attempt to discipline the boys.

On the morning of April 1, 2008, Tonya Victor said the boys were getting dressed and Errol Victor had left to attend a meeting when M.L. came to her to confess that he had taken ice cream without permission. Tonya Victor said she spanked M.L. for stealing, then gathered her biological sons together and told them she was going to enroll them in a military school or send them to live with their fathers if their behavior problems continued. She went downstairs to tend to her younger children, she said, leaving the older boys upstairs. A few minutes later, she said she heard loud noises coming from upstairs. "I go upstairs and they are fighting M.L., literally fighting him, beating him," she said. "They have M.L. with a belt whipping him."

Tonya Victor said she broke up the fight and learned one of the boys was mad at M.L. because he had actually taken the ice cream but thought M.L. had told on him. The others joined in, she said, because they did not want to be sent away. "M.L. was fine at this point," she said. "He was speaking."

Later, when Errol Victor came home, he said he was told that M.L. was not feeling well. He said he could see that M.L. was breathing hard and thought he might have overexerted himself and become dehydrated and asked his older sons to get him some Pedialyte. "When she (Tonya) finally screams I run upstairs and he's passed out," he said. "I give him CPR. He came back, so my immediate thing is to get him dressed because we're going to the hospital."

He said Errol Jr. carried M.L. to the truck, and Errol Jr., Errol Sr. and Tonya Victor rushed him to the hospital. By this time, Errol Victor said M.L. was in the midst of a severe asthma attack.

Julie Cullen, who is prosecuting the case for the state attorney general's office, disputes the Victor's account. "As has already been noted in court hearings and records it is the opinion of the state that the child died as a result of injuries he sustained in a beating and not asthma," she said.

    Bolting from the emergency room

At the time, St. John Parish sheriff's authorities said emergency room video shows Tonya and Errol Jr. "bolted" from the emergency room after bringing M.L. in. Tonya Victor said she left the ER to take Errol Jr. home to watch the rest of the children and intended to return.

In the meantime, hospital personnel began asking Errol Victor for M.L.'s medical history and personal information. He said he didn't know the information but assured doctors he would take responsibility for everything. The statement that he would take responsibility for everything, according to authorities at the time, was part of the basis for his arrest and indicated that he would take responsibility for the death. "Look, I'm talking about the care of my child," he said. "They know that, because that's not a statement to police. They misrepresented that deliberately."

Errol Victor said he was still sitting in the waiting room, awaiting word on M.L.'s condition, when he got a call from a cousin who told him he needed to go home right away. "He said, 'Man they've got cops all over your home.' He said, 'They say your son has died at the hospital.' And I'm on the phone in the emergency room and I'm like, 'Nah man, I'm at the hospital right now. I figured somebody had jumped the gun. You know how stories get started."

But soon afterward, he was approached by a detective, who told him M.L. had died and that he had to read him his rights. Tonya Victor said she found out that her son had died through a phone call from her husband. By the time she reached home, she said, police had already searched the house and removed several items. They arrested her and Errol Jr. He was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. However, after Judge Madeline Jasmine voided the indictment against him and his parents because a St. John sheriff's deputy was on the jury and wore a shirt advertising his employment he was never re-indicted in the case.

M.L.'s body was turned over to his biological father, who buried him in Hammond. Tonya Victor said she didn't know her son had been buried until after his funeral. "We had a tragedy. We all lost and are still losing," Errol Victor said. "They didn't even allow us to bury our son. That shouldn't even be legal."

    Strict disciplinarian

At the time of M.L.'s death, neighbors described Errol Victor as a strict disciplinarian who made his children run with cinderblocks as punishment. Marcus Victor, 19, said although running laps was a punishment in the Victor household, he and the other children were never made to carry cinderblocks. "We had a list. If you fight your brother you had a certain amount of laps -- if you cheat, if you steal -- we just used to run laps," he said.

However, in a recorded statement played in court in 2009, one of Tonya Victor's juvenile children painted a different picture of life in the Victor household. The child said that Errol Victor would frequently withhold food from his stepchildren while his biological children could "eat anything they wanted."

He also testified that Errol Victor and three other brothers hit M.L. the night before his death for stealing the ice cream. He said the brothers held M.L. down by his arms, under Victor's direction. The boy testified that when Errol Victor got angry: "You can't stop him. If you stop him you would get whooped."

Cullen said the evidence will show that Victor is a violent man. "We think that the injuries to the victim in this case will answer that question," she said.

Errol Victor said authorities have been able to turn his stepchildren against him. "It hurts, because my husband and their brothers gave them everything -- everything -- and you say horrible stories like that," Tonya Victor said.

    Numerous attorneys fired

Since M.L.'s death, the Victors have been indicted three times, have been in and out of jail and have hired and fired numerous attorneys. In October, they were granted the right to represent themselves but have since retained an attorney. "We had no intention to go to trial pro se," Errol Victor said. "I had to get out of jail. I had to be heard."

The Victors attribute the numerous changes to lawyers only being interested in money, not justice. District Judge Mary Hotard Becnel expressed frustration at the numerous counsel changes during a hearing in April at which she cited seven changes in representation in the criminal case and 13 in their custody case in juvenile court. In allowing their latest attorney, Lionel Burns, to once again enroll -- he served as the Victor's attorney previously -- Becnel warned that "once you're enrolled in this case you're stuck with it. I'm not letting you out," according to court records.

Despite that, the Victors said they are now dissatisfied with their current representation and fear they won't have a fair trial if they are forced to proceed. Burns recently filed a motion to withdraw from the case. Becnel, on July 8, refused his request. Cullen said it is not unusual for defendents to change attorneys but declined to comment specifically about the number of delays in this case. "The state is cautiously optimistic that this trial will begin on Aug. 16 as currently scheduled," she said.

Errol Victor said he has spent approximately $600,000 on about 22 attorneys. In January, the Victors filed suit against Sherman Walker Correctional Facility and Warden Phillip Hebert for, among other things, imposing excessive bonds. The lawsuit states that the Victors have paid for six different bonds totalling more than $3.5 million. "None of the existing bonds were reinstated nor returned except one, still leaving a total of $3 million, unreturned and non-reinstated," according to the suit. That case is still pending.

In 2009, the Victors filed bankruptcy, they say, as a result of the money spent on bonds, on their defense and as a result of having their bank accounts frozen. "We lost our son, and they stole everything from us," Errol Victor said. "And I say stole. We didn't lose our property. They stole it from us. We didn't lose our business. They took it. We didn't abuse our children. They took them. They took our money. They took our freedom. They are not using the law whatsoever. They are using their position."

    Two children have been adopted

Five of the Victors' children are now older than 18 and are either back home or living on their own. The Victors are prohibited from having contact with their minor children. One remains in foster care and four are living with their biological fathers. They said the two youngest have been adopted.

"(Judge Sterling) Snowdy put them up for adoption, which is a permanent decision, and we haven't even been to trial yet," Errol Victor said.

Snowdy said he could not comment on the custody case because it took place in a closed hearing as part of juvenile proceedings.

"They stole our children. This is not a car you're repossessing. This is our blood and our flesh and our children. I'm not guilty of anything, and I've never been guilty of anything and the law still says I'm innocent -- not guilty -- innocent, until I'm proven guilty. I'm innocent this very second right now."

Jefferson Parish woman arrested for sexually abusing toddler, dog
    hursday, October 30, 2014 - 4:53pm
HARVEY, LA. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested 26-year-old Angeline Lodice for sexually abusing a toddler, having sex with a dog and videotaping the crimes.

Investigators say they were alerted to the crime by the father of the 3-year-old boy. Police say a person close to the suspect told the father about the video.

Detectives say Lodice admitted to the crimes, but couldn’t remember any of the details because she was drugged at the time.

Detectives also say they have recovered video and photographic evidence of Lodice engaging in sex acts with the child and a dog.

Lodice is being held without bond in the Jefferson Parish Jail.

She is charged with aggravated rape of a child under the age of 13, child pornography, crimes against nature and sexual battery.

The rape charge comes with a mandatory life sentence, if convicted.

$1M bond set for woman whose kids were found dead in freezer
COREY WILLIAMS - 5 hrs ago

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit woman charged with child abuse after the bodies of two of her children were found in her home freezer has been ordered to stay in jail Thursday unless she can post a $1 million bond.

In setting the high bond, 36th District Court Magistrate Renee McDuffee told Mitchelle Blair that "the charges in this matter are so heinous."

Blair also was ordered not to have any contact with her two surviving children, a 17-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy who had been living in the home and have been placed in protective custody. She also can't interact with relatives who have contact with those children or with neighbors at her apartment complex near downtown Detroit.

Blair, 35, appeared on a video feed from a police lockup during Thursday's arraignment. She didn't have a lawyer, and McDuffee entered a "not guilty" plea on her behalf.

A prosecutor requested a high bond amount, telling McDuffee that Blair could face two counts of first-degree murder charges once investigators determine how Stoni Ann Blair and Stephen Gage Berry died.

Court officers serving an eviction notice at the home Tuesday found the children's bodies in the family's deep freezer. Mitchelle Blair and her surviving children were in a nearby apartment when the eviction crew arrived.

Prosecutors said they think Stoni and Stephen died about two years ago, and that she was 13 and he was 9 when it happened.

The children's bodies were still thawing Thursday and the medical examiner was planning to conduct the autopsies on them Friday.

Blair faces an April 2 probable cause hearing and April 9 preliminary examination.

Why is there so much hate in this world? This is so sad - that no one noticed these children were missing for 2 years. Where was the rest of these 2 childrens friends, family or neighbors? What kind of person--black, white, yellow, green or purple could do this to a child--their own child? The color of ones skin should not matter in this type of situation. We should all be concerned with the remaining children and this evil woman being punished for this crime!

    ...

Very sad for the children that were killed and am wondering why the 17 year old had not said anything to authorities. I am also wondering how long it will take for Public Assistance to realize she has or had been receiving payments for the children found in freezer and just when the food stamp office will realize they as well have been paying to feed dead children as it has been stated she has not been working so therefore someone (the taxpayers) must have been paying for her and her surviving children to live....

Police in Detroit arrested a mother of four Tuesday after the bodies of two of her children were found in a deep freezer in the family's home.

The bodies were found by a bailiff who was carrying out an eviction order in the three-bedroom home in an low-income apartment complex east of downtown. Detroit Police Chief James Craig said the bodies belonged to an 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. An autopsy to determine the cause of death was planned.

WJBK reported that police found the mother in a neighboring apartment. She was later arrested after questioning. Her two other children, aged 11 and 17, were found at a neighbor's home and placed in protective custody. Neither the mother nor the children have been formally identified by authorities.

It was not immediately clear how long the bodies had been in the freezer, but neighbor and friend Tori Childs told the Associated Press that she hadn't seen the two dead children in about a year. "I haven't seen them since they were playing with my step-kids," Childs said.

Neighbors described the mother to WJBK as an "overprotective parent" and said she would go on Facebook to talk about how much she loved her children. Some neighbors said her children were home-schooled. Others say she told them the children were staying with other family members.

The woman has lived in the complex at least 10 years. She was unemployed, was having money troubles and had gotten behind on her rent. Friends knew about the impending eviction. "She was really behind, but she didn't have it," Childs said, referring to money to pay the rent.

Court records show a judgment filed last month against the woman for $2,206 owed to the complex.

WJBK reported that two neighbors saw the mother Tuesday morning when a dumpster arrived as part of the eviction process. They said the woman had tears in her eyes.

"She said 'Tori, I'm sorry'", Childs told the station, "and then the police officer put her in the car and drove her away."

Teen says mom killed her siblings found in freezer.

DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit teenager says her mother killed two of her siblings and forced her to put one of their bodies in the freezer where they were found.

Child welfare workers say in a court filing that Mitchelle Blair's surviving daughter, who is 17 years old, said Blair tortured her 9-year-old brother, Stephen Berry, for about two weeks before he died in August 2012.

They say she told them her mother strangled her 13-year-old sister, Stoni Blair, in May 2013 after becoming enraged because Stoni said she didn't like her siblings. She said her mother made her put Stoni's body in the freezer.

The report says all of the children were severely abused.

Blair was arraigned on child abuse charges Thursday but could eventually face murder charges.

Autopsies determine children found in freezer were slain

DETROIT (AP) - A brother and sister whose bodies were found in a deep freezer in their Detroit home had been beaten to death, autopsies determined Friday, painting a more complete picture of the horrors that unfolded inside the home for years but that apparently went unnoticed by the outside world.

The Wayne County medical examiner's office classified the deaths of Stoni Ann Blair and Stephen Gage Berry as homicides, saying both were killed by multiple blows and that the young boy also had "thermal injuries."

Their older sister, who is 17, told child welfare officials that their mother, Mitchelle Blair, tortured Stephen "for approximately two weeks prior to his death by tying a belt around his neck, throwing hot water on him while in the shower and putting a plastic bag over his head." The girl and Blair's other surviving child, an 8-year-old boy, have been placed in the care of a relative.

Blair, 35, is jailed on first-degree child abuse charges, but prosecutors said Thursday that she could face murder charges depending on what the autopsies found. The prosecutor's office said Friday that there would be no changes in the charges over the weekend.

Investigators believe Stoni was 13 when she died and Stephen was 9. They think Stephen died in August 2012 and that Stoni died the following May.

In a court filing Thursday to end Blair's parental rights, the state Department of Human Services quoted her surviving daughter as saying that after Blair killed Stephen, his body was wrapped in a bed linen and put in the freezer.

She said in May 2013, Stoni incensed their mother by saying she didn't like either of the surviving siblings, and that their mother strangled Stoni with a T-shirt and placed a plastic bag over her mouth. The older girl said her mother forced her to put her sister's body in the freezer, the agency wrote.

Court officers carrying out an eviction notice at the family's home in an apartment complex near downtown Detroit on Tuesday found the bodies in the freezer. Neighbors said afterward that they hadn't seen the dead children for about a year - although investigators believe it must have been longer than that - and that they rarely saw the two surviving children. When neighbors asked if the children attended school, they said Blair told them the kids were being homeschooled.

The 17-year-old told child welfare officials that neither she nor her siblings had gone to school in two years. It's not clear if they actually were receiving lessons at home.

Under Michigan's school code, parents can take their children from public schools and homeschool them without alerting local or education officials. City Councilwoman Mary Sheffield said Friday that's not good enough. "There is no accountability whatsoever," Sheffield told The Associated Press. "You can pull your student out (of school), but there is no way to monitor the care and well-being of that child. That's a huge concern."

Sheffield, who held a prayer vigil Friday night at the family's apartment complex, said she will be working with legislators to take a closer look at the law. The issue gained some attention briefly in 2013, when a bill was introduced in the state House that would have required parents to register their homeschool with the state. "But it didn't go anywhere," said Bill DiSessa, state Education spokesman.

Gilda Jacobs, CEO of the Michigan League for Public Policy, said it's too easy for children to fall through the cracks. "Nobody knows what goes on inside certain homes, and there is literally no accountability built into the homeschooling process," said Jacobs, whose Lansing-based organization is an advocacy group for the poor.

Angela Gordon, an aunt who is caring for the two surviving children, said her first priority is enrolling them in school. She said she had no indication anything was wrong at the apartment and questioned whether home checks were completed by the state.

The state said in its court filing that Child Protective Services had contacts with the family in 2002 and 2005, and that investigations substantiated allegations of physical abuse. Neither of the fathers were involved in the four children's lives, and both owe more than $10,000 in child support, the agency noted.

Blair also collected government food assistance and Medicaid for all of her children - including Stoni and Stephen - through this month.

"While we cannot release information on a specific case, this type of tragedy underscores that protecting children is the responsibility of everyone in our communities," said Bob Wheaton, state Human Services spokesman. "We rely on the eyes and ears of those in the community to help us protect children."

New York woman gets 20 years to life for killing son with salt

    Barbara Goldberg 10 hrs ago

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., April 8 (Reuters) - A suburban New York mother who blogged about motherhood was sentenced by a judge to 20 years to life in prison on Wednesday for murdering her young son with a salt overdose so she could bask in social media attention about his mysterious illness.

The sentence imposed on Lacey Spears, 27, who chronicled her 5-year-old son's illnesses on a personal blog called "Garnett's Journey" and other social media, was less than the maximum penalty of 25 years to life requested by the prosecution. "By not imposing the maximum, I'm exhibiting something you didn't show your son - namely mercy," said Judge Robert Neary in the Westchester County Courthouse in Valhalla.

A jury convicted Spears of second-degree murder in Garnett's 2014 death at Westchester Medical Center.

Assistant District Attorney Doreen Lloyd described Garnett as a normal, healthy child whose illnesses were induced by his mother, who eventually killed him by putting a lethal amount of salt into the hospitalized boy's feeding tube, all the while blogging and posting pictures to Facebook. "She continued to portray him as a sick child for her own bizarre need for attention. She used that feeding tube as a weapon to kill him," Lloyd said. "Garnett Spears should be in school today but he's not because his mother murdered him," she said.

Defense lawyers, who asked for the minimum sentence of 15 years to life and filed a notice of appeal on Wednesday, said Spears was innocent and blamed the hospital for negligence.

Spears, who lived in Chestnut Ridge, about 32 miles (51 km) north of New York City, declined the judge's request to make a final statement, standing with her wrists cuffed behind her.

The judge described her as mentally ill and identified her condition as "Munchausen by proxy syndrome," in which a caregiver fabricates a medical problem for someone in their care. "Your crime is unfathomable in its cruelty. How could a mother ever treat her child in such a callous, inhumane manner?" the judge said.

Spears told investigators that her son, whose father was killed in a car accident, suffered from a slew of medical problems from Crohn's disease and Celiac diseases to ear abnormalities, according to court papers.

The child had been hospitalized with gastrointestinal symptoms that prosecutors say his mother induced.

Spears had moved with Garnett from Decatur, Alabama, to Clearwater, Florida, to Chestnut Ridge.

Mom pleads guilty to killing 2 kids found in home freezer

By ED WHITE, Associated Press - 5 hrs ago

DETROIT — A Detroit woman pleaded guilty Monday to killing two of her children and storing their bodies in a home freezer, telling a judge that she had no remorse for beating and suffocating them.

Mitchelle Blair, 36, has never challenged allegations that she killed her 13-year-old daughter and 9 year-old son. She pleaded guilty to first-degree murder without any deal with prosecutors — an extraordinary move — and said she would have accepted the death penalty if Michigan had it.

She was arrested in March, after deputies carrying out an eviction at her Detroit apartment found the bodies of her children in a deep freezer. She said she attacked the children months apart in 2012 and 2013.

Blair said she intended to kill her daughter, Stoni Blair, but didn't know the abuse of her son, Stephen Berry, would be fatal. Blair alleged the children had sexually abused a sibling, though she said she didn't witness the alleged assaults and didn't get police involved because she feared she would lose her other children.

"I don't regret none of this," Blair told Judge Dana Hathaway during the hearing. "I don't feel no remorse for the death of those demons."

Mental health experts had found Blair competent to face charges. She faces life in prison with no chance for parole.

Hathaway asked a series of questions about what happened. Blair said she repeatedly beat Stoni and Stephen, and poured scalding water on them. She said she made Stephen drink window cleaner.

"So this was your way of inflicting punishment?" the judge asked.

"Definitely," Blair replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

At the request of prosecutors, Hathaway asked Blair if she had ever called police about the alleged sexual assaults. Blair said she called police with a "hypothetical" situation, seeking to know if other children in the home would be removed if she reported the assaults.

In a separate case, authorities are seeking to end Blair's parental rights to her other two children, although the guilty plea should guarantee it. A videotape played during a hearing this month showed her 8-year-old son telling a social worker that he was whipped with a cord and that his 17-year-old sister was hit with a hammer.

The state also wants to end the parental rights of their fathers, saying the men rarely see the children and owe thousands of dollars in child support.

1-year-old found alone on Holly Beach; parents found jogging naked miles away

A 1-year-old girl was found alone on Holly Beach about 10:15 this morning, according to Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson.

Johnson said Detective Kim Nunez found the child's parents, Cody and Monique Bourgeois, two hours later jogging naked on the beach three to four miles away from where the child was found.

The parents were arrested on charges of child desertion and obscenity. The baby was turned over to her paternal grandmother, Johnson said.

The strange news of the day happens to come from Cameron Parish, Louisiana, but more specifically, Holly Beach. A one-year-old baby girl was found sitting alone on the beach and her parents were found shortly after. The parents were actually found four miles away, and they weren’t just sitting around — they were spotted jogging naked.

According to Fox 8, Cody and Monique Bourgeois are the parents of the one -year-old girl, and they weren’t found for another two hours after the baby was located. The Bourgeois couple was found four miles down Holly Beach, and they were indeed naked and jogging.

The Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report around 10:16 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and it was of a 20-month-old child sitting alone on the beach. Around 10:33 a.m., the police arrived on the scene and found the baby on the beach.

The young girl, whose name was not released, was found alone on the beach not too far from a Ford Explorer. The vehicle was running at the time.

About two hours later, police were finally able to locate the parents, Cody and Monique Bourgeois, miles away from the beach. There is still no word as to why the couple was jogging along, naked, or had left their child alone.

KATC reported that the parents were arrested and booked on charges of child desertion and obscenity. The young girl was turned over to her paternal grandmother, and Child Protective Services was called in to investigate the situation.

Not a lot of information was released about the Bourgeois couple except that they are indeed married. The police did not release where they are from or even their ages.

Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson did say that drug abuse by the couple is suspected in the case, but an investigation is still ongoing.

In a time when many stories come out about accidental child neglect and children being left in hot vehicles, many on social media wonder how or why these types of things happen. Accidents are one thing, but here is a couple that left their child alone on a beach for some reason and decided to go for a jog.

The one-year-old baby left on the beach in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, had no reported injuries and was said to be fine. As for the Bourgeois couple found naked and jogging down Holly Beach, it may be difficult for them to end up getting their child back.
