Michelle Obama's Mandate Will Require Daycares to Weigh Children

A new report says that the federal government plans to keep track of how healthy children are by weighing and measuring them in daycare.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will weigh and check the height of roughly 3,000 children as part of a study mandated by First Lady Michelle Obama's Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act.

According to a report by Free Beacon, the USDA published "a notice in the Federal Register on Friday proposing data collection on what meals are served in professional and home daycare facilities and how much physical activity children perform."

The study is required by section 223 of Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act and the main aspect of the law implemented new standards for school lunches when it was passed in 2010.

Lt. Col. Allen West (Ret.) said on "Outnumbered" that as a parent, he is totally against the government doing this to children.

"This is incredible," West said. "Parents are no longer able to parent. The federal government does not need to weigh a child. That is the parents' responsibility."

Harris Faulkner said that she doesn't want her kids to be weighed.

"I mean come on, come on," Faulkner stated. "I'm sorry, I have a little bit of a rant inside of me about this. What happens next when somebody in that daycare facility decides to label that child? What is it, fat shaming for toddlers now? Enough already, if you want to weigh somebody, weigh your own kids. Leave mine alone."

imho the obamas' are control freaks. what next? next thing you know the nsa will have eyes on your scale and will mandate everyday weighing of all americans (illegals and non-americans will not have to do this since they are not citizens) except their friends and colleagues. every ounce you and your family go over will be taxed, will be printed in the NY times, announced at everyday press conferences, and you will be visited daily by the 'shame committee'. this committee will go into your home and hunt down any food that is not on the o approved list. you will have to go before a judge who could send you to the O fat farm ltd at your expense. all you possessions will be acquired for free by the government to give to an O approved person. this committee will be headed by an appointed O czar. what would be the requirements of an 'approved person'? first and foremost they must be a democrat, they must have voted for obama in 2008 and 2012, must be impressive enough for the O family to rub elbows with, non jewish or christiain, non white etc

American students and their parents have been railing against the Empress Michelle and her draconian school lunch restrictions since their introduction two years ago. She also completely banned the use of cookies, donuts and cakes at school/PTO fundraising events.

Students Tweeted photos of their horrid lunches, making the sarcastic hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama go viral last year — a public relations disaster for the White House.



Yummy…vomit?; and powdered cheese and soybean oil “mac and cheese.”

All this, while her own daughters feasted on meatball subs, BBQ sliders, pepperoni pizza, and ice cream at their elite, $35,000 per year Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.

Diane Douglas, Arizona’s Superintendent of Public Instruction just told every single school district in the state of Arizona that they no longer have to abide by Michelle Obama’s federal “nutrition” mandates when it comes to fundraising activities. http://www.thenewamerican.com/cultur...draising-rules

“I have ordered effective immediately, that the ADE Health and Nutrition Services division grant exemptions for all fundraisers for both traditional public schools and charter public schools,” Douglas said in a statement.

Superintendent Douglas went on to explain how totally inappropriate it was for the federal government to regulate school bake sales for fundraising events:


“Forcing parents and other supporters of schools to only offer federally approved food and snacks at fundraisers is a perfect example of the overreach of government and intrusion into local control.“

Douglas also indicated that this was just the first step towards the total rejection of Michelle Obama’s restrictions.

And that’s not all she has planned.

Douglas was elected on a promise to stop Common Core, which students, parents and even teachers hate, but liberal Democrats and RINOs both support. And she won’t back down:

The voters have rendered their decision and they have rejected Common Core in Arizona. We must now work on creating a new set of higher state standards that will prepare our students for a lifetime of success,” Douglas said.

It is gratifying to see a true public servant who was not content to merely wait around for the divided Congress to pass legislation to block Michelle oppressive rules — she simply nullified them with a single act.

Other “Red” states need to follow her lead, and not just on USDA regs, but on EPA rules, Common Core and immigration — nullifying the Feds when they violate the U.S. Constitution, as Alexander Hamilton declared in The Federalist, No. 78:

“No legislative act contrary to the Constitution, can be valid. To deny this, would be to affirm, that the deputy is greater than his principal; that the servant is above his master; that the representatives of the people are superior to the people themselves; that men acting by virtue of powers, may do not only what their powers do not authorize, but what they forbid.”

School Board Members Ate the Lunch Michelle O Wants For Kids.

A Denver Public Schools board member and other education activists paid the Kepner Middle School cafeteria a visit after receiving a complaint about the quality of the lunches from a student.

Though the lunches complied with the National School Lunch Program guidelines championed by First Lady Michelle Obama, officials were not impressed, according to Chalkbeat:

“It’s heartbreaking,” Padres health justice organizer Monica Acosta said. “This is the type of food [they’ve] been having all year long.”

As the above image shows, the lunch consisted of frozen strawberries, an undercooked chicken sandwich on a “burned, hard bun,” and an unripened pear. French fries were also on the menu, but the cafeteria ran out.

In the weeks since the visit, there have been changes in Kepner’s cafeteria:

There’s no more frozen fruit or expired milk, and there are more hot entrée choices. Next year, there are plans to put Kepner on a different meal model that will increase daily hot entrée offerings from four to six, in line with most other middle schools.

The school district claims the meal is not representative of the improvements in meal quality they’ve made districtwide. Denver Public Schools has a school farm program, which “provides thousands of pounds of fresh produce to school kitchens every year.”

Also, the district has implemented “scratch cooking” training for many cafeteria workers, including some of those at Kepner. In fact, the bun served on May 12 was made in the school’s cafeteria.

District officials also told Chalkbeat the Kepner cafeteria has suffered from short staffing throughout the year.

We all know that both Michelle and Barack Obama have come up with some really crackpot ideas since entering our White House. We’ve all seen what happens when the minions follow the advice of either Obama; however, one teen has recently released a video that shows just how asinine one of Michelle’s latest ideas is when you put it into practice.

After successfully attacking school lunches and succeeding in destroying them, Michelle has moved on to see just how else she can ruin our fun, and now, she’s gone after a summertime staple and an American tradition. Perhaps just as American as baseball and apple pie, the s’more has become a campfire favorite. But it won’t be any s’more if Michelle has anything to do about it.

For those that haven’t yet heard the troubling news, apparently, a snack of roasted marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker isn’t exactly healthy, and when something is unhealthy, Michelle Obama won’t rest until she rips every delectable morsel away from our watering mouths.

So, the USDA is trying to alter the classic concoction into something more Michelle approved. However, one teen just saved us the trouble of trying it out for ourselves. Luckily, she shared the experience on YouTube so that we can all see what it looks like when you try to follow Michelle’s advice.

While replacing marshmallow and chocolate with strawberries and yogurt may sound like a fine idea in theory, it’s easy to see that it’s not very practical if applied. Which makes you wonder, do the Obama’s try out any of their cockamamie schemes before they force them on the American people?

“I can honestly say that this was a terrible idea and would be a waste of your time, money, and taste buds. Stick to regular s’mores people,” the poignant teen from MonkeyProductions15 tells us in the video description, and it sounds like she’s describing every idea the Obama’s have ever had — at least the waste of time and money part.

That school lunch program the First Lady has imposed on your kids? Its days appear numbered…

Although a great many people have cried tyranny for quite some time, it’s only now that those tasked with representing the people are doing their jobs. Despite the fact almost every child has suffered at the hands of Michelle’s “healthy” school lunches, she has remained adamant that it should continue.

After years of complaints from children, parents, school staff, and even administrators, it seems that Michelle’s royal decree is about to come to an end. The Daily Caller notes that about a year ago, similar sentiments were set forth by Congress, resulting in Michelle saying she was going to fight “until the bitter end” to keep the program in place. Since the horrible lunches continued, it would appear that Michelle won that round.

Unfortunately for her, this time things are different, as a bill to shut down the terrible lunches for good has been set forth with bipartisan participation. According to Western Journalism:

The bill, introduced by Senate Agriculture Chairman Pat Roberts, R-Kan., and the committee’s top Democrat, Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, moves to end the rules and also seeks to address the massive rise in food waste that has been seen since the rules were implemented. The bill has the support of the School Nutrition Association (SNA) which represents 55,000 school food service employees across the country.

The School Lunches By Michelle program is a classic case of the unintended consequences of leftist policy. By insisting on “healthy” school lunches rather than letting schools have the freedom to figure out what works best for them, the First Lady has forced those schools to provide a lot of food that the kids won’t eat – and therefore an enormous amount of it, and the money spent to provide it (that “healthy’ food the kids won’t eat is also a lot more expensive than the stuff they will eat), is thrown away.

So the kids don’t get much of a lunch at all, they’re unhappy and starving and thus unproductive in the afternoons, the schools and the federal government are wasting money and we’ve blown up the concept of local control of education in the bargain.

Folks, when I read this story I was just at a loss for words. I don’t know how much more insanity will emanate from this Obama administration but it’s getting really inane. If this story doesn’t set you aflame and give you cause and reason to understand liberal progressive socialism has no place in our Republic — then I don’t know what will.

“The federal government is taking steps to fine schools that do not comply with first lady Michelle Obama’s school lunch rules. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service issued a proposed rule Monday to codify parts of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which was championed by Mrs. Obama. The regulation would punish schools and state departments with fines for “egregious or persistent disregard” for the lunch rules that imposed sodium and calorie limits and banned white grains.

A West Virginia preschool teacher was threatened with fines for violating the rules by rewarding her students with candy for good behavior in June 2015. The teacher ultimately did not have to pay, but the school had to develop a “corrective action plan” with training on the policies.

The government now seeks to make fines enforceable by regulation. Section 303 of the law requires that the federal government “establish criteria for the imposition of fines” for all the Department of Agriculture’s child food programs.

“Under section 303, the Secretary or a State agency may establish an assessment against any school food authority or school administering the Child Nutrition Programs if the Secretary or the State agency determines that the school or school food authority failed to correct severe mismanagement of any program, failed to correct repeated violations of program requirements, or disregarded a requirement of which they have been informed,” the proposed rule states. The government insisted that fines would be limited only to schools, school food authorities, and state agencies that have “failed to correct severe mismanagement of any program, disregarded a requirement of which it has been informed, or failed to correct repeated violations of program requirements.”

Do you truly understand what this means? The federal government is using monetary penalty to coerce and force acquiescence to its policy. And worst of all, this policy was not from our elected representatives, but rather a Golf-Foxtrot-India (Good Freakin’ Idea) of the First Lady, Michelle Obama.

So now the First Lady commands, like Marie Antoinette, “let them eat cake” — and if you’re not a student of history, this wasn’t a reference to fine French pastries. It was a reference to the scraps that “cake” up in the oven when bread is baked – that’s how much Madame Antoinette felt about the starving masses.

And so it goes with First Lady Obama’s mandated food nutrition standards. Heck, her “Hunger-Free Kids Act” is about as oxymoronic a title as her hubby’s “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”

If you’ve been keeping up with this, you know much food has been wasted because the kids don’t want to eat it. But, darn you schools, you’ll be forced to pay if you don’t submit. Gee where have we heard that before? Submit or pay? What kind of nation are we living in folks? Is this still America?

And these “fines” — who do you think will be paying for them? Yep, we shall, because it will be passed off to us in increased school bonds in local measures. And what’s up with the Obama administration classification of “egregious or persistent disregard” for lunch rules? The federal government is now making lunchroom rules and imposing financial penalties? Ladies and gents, that verbiage sounds like something you would have heard in the former Soviet Union — what next, teachers expelled to the gulags…maybe that’s what Obama wants GITMO to be used for, a reeducation camp?

With all that’s happening in the world, we don’t need the federal government mandating lunchroom meals — and if you don’t agree, you are certifiably a progressive socialist borderline communist. As a parent, I’m responsible for my child’s eating habits. Angela and I prepared the meals for our girls. And let me ask you a question, those kids on reduced or free meals in schools, wouldn’t it be better to feed them things they like? I say we make sure we have fitness programs that promote a healthier and active lifestyle — oops, better be careful, if a kid doesn’t run that lap, the parents may get a fine notice.

However, now the Department of Agriculture is backpedaling and trying to clean up this mess, “Update Tuesday, March 29 7:23 P.M.: Following publication of this story, a USDA spokesperson told the Washington Free Beacon that the goal of the new proposals are meant to ensure high standards in its Child Nutrition Programs.

“To ensure that entities implementing these critical programs continue to meet high standards of program effectiveness and integrity, USDA is proposing a series of program improvements that address only those programs with systemic and significant program violations, such as theft of funds and financial mismanagement, to safeguard the integrity of Child Nutrition Programs and taxpayer dollars,” the spokesperson said.”

They do not get it folks. They believe they’re justified in issuing a financial penalty for “egregious or persistent disregard.”

Here is what we need to do: bombard the USDA with phone calls and emails at all times of the day for the rest of this week, well, until they recant and retract this socialist rule. George Orwell could not have written this script any better. This is the ultimate example of the welfare nanny-state — the belief that since the government is providing it, we shall mandate it. Yet the progressive leftists go apoplectic with mandatory drug testing of welfare recipients.

Just think, today it’s in the school lunchroom…what happens when they mandate to us all what we should eat and drink? Don’t laugh — you heard about the sugary drink tax? I was just in Philadelphia on Monday; it’s happening there.
