She just ruined her chances for ever being a successful presidential candidate.
Not that I care all that much though. I am still a Spud supporter.

As a private citizen she can do so much more without the limitations of her office as governor.
I sure hope she does what I think she'll do. After all the frivolous attacks on her I hope she really goes on the attack.

I hope something better came along. I like her. I think many in the media did attack over petty things. I dont blame her for leaving. No one in politics has been picked apart like they did to her and her family.

If this was the case then it's fortunate that she lost. You need to stand up to the pressure.

I can't remember any other politician who has been under such fire ... and who's critics had no problem going afterthe family ... including the children ... including an infant ... no wonder we can't get anyone with half a brain to run for office ( any office )

State of Alaska > Lieutenant Governor > News > News Details
Lt. Gov. Response to Palin’s Announcement
(July 3, 2009 Anchorage, Alaska) – Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell has released his prepared remarks in response to Governor Palin’s announcement.
Thank you, governor. It is with a heavy heart that I hear these words. I so appreciate what you have done for our state and your sacrificial service. You have been a strong leader for our state, you’ve inspired a nation, and you’ve ignited the fire of real hope around the world.
I profoundly respect your decision for I know the depth of character and integrity from which it springs. Rare, indeed, are such selfless acts seen in the public arena.
Governor Palin has recounted well the achievements of the last two and a half years and I want to take a moment to assure Alaskans of the good team in place to move Alaska forward and to speak briefly about what Alaskans can expect.
We’ve got an extremely talented team of commissioners and I intend to keep them working hard for our state. I will work with the governor to coordinate with the cabinet and staffs on a seamless, stable transition. And, I will work closely with legislators, community leaders, and individual Alaskans to accomplish these ends.
I came into office believing and still strongly believe that the power, rights, and responsibilities of our government belong to the people. Alaskans can expect me to focus on positioning Alaska for economic growth by creating legacy opportunities for our people and future generations.
My top priority is to get a gasline. I will continue the course set by the governor that has produced such forward progress these past two years. I will continue to support and promote responsible resource development and energy development of all kinds for Alaskans.
State government will live within its means and we will provide a stable investment climate for job creation. We remain committed to education, safe homes, and transportation. We proudly and resolutely support our military, veterans, and their families, and we will protect second amendment rights. Perhaps most importantly, we cherish life and liberty.
I thank Governor Palin for holding fast to these principles during her service. Personally, I thank her for the confidence she’s placed in me, for her trust, and for her friendship. As Alaska celebrates her 50th year of statehood, I believe history will look back on Sarah Palin as one of Alaska’s great gifts to all peoples. You have served honorably, Governor. God bless you.

Neither is half of the crap "the ONE" has pulled since he has been in office!
He is spending money like its just a paper mill. Which is basically what they are doing to money these days. He is doing unethical and sneaky things to get things passed (bills), and who knows what else "HE" has done!
NO ONE know why she is doing it. You are just "guessing" its because of the recent news coverage. Has it ever occured to anyone she could be sick or something family oriented? Politics, Last I checked, did NOT make the world go around.
And as for as american values, Obamas throwing ours to the wind, or at least half of him is!
Here is an instance....
On Sunday, June 7, President Obama flew back to the United States on Air Force One. His wife, two daughters and her mother did a bit of shopping in Paris before taking their own Boeing 757 (C - 32) over to London to do some sight seeing.
We all remember Obama’s admonishment to corporate CEO’s in February: “You can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers dime.”
Apparently that doesn’t apply to his wife.
The London Times opened it’s description of Michelle’s visit this way: “Motorcycle outriders, armoured Chevrolets and bullet - headed men in raincoats criss - crossed London yesterday as Michelle Obama and her daughters spent a second day on an unofficial visit to the capital.”
The Times went on to describe that when Michelle and the girls arrived at Westminster Abbey, the building was closed to tourists with people already in line told to “wait against the wall.” An American visiting the Abbey said “Right then I knew it was probably someone from our ‘royal family’.”
Michelle’s motorcade shut down the London street above as the First Lady of the World and her children go for Fish and Chips at a pub in Mayfair . The entourage inside the restaurant was 15 people while dozens more wait outside. Include the dozens of Air Force personnel to fly and service the plane, embassy personnel and other staff, and we are talking about a serious expenditure of tax payer dollars.
Meanwhile, millions of Americans have lost their jobs and won’t be able to take their family on a summer holiday. Despite their circumstances they’ll still be expected to fork over the tax dollars to pay for Michelle’s trip!

Palin update-- CNN source: Indictment pending
At a news conference, held in front of the windows in her home that look exactly like some of the windows in the Wasilla Sports Complex (Palin's most dubious achievement as Wasilla mayor), Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced she will be resigning her duties in two weeks. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, the man who put the "lack" in "lackluster," will assume her duties at that time.
The resignation comes as Palin is unsuccessfully attempting to deal with many issues in Alaska, and as her popularity among the bulk of Alaskans plummets.
Strangely proclaiming that she knows "when to pass the ball for victory," she stated in the conference that she will hand over the reins at the conclusion of the Alaska Governor's Picnic, later this month.
Palin, in her comments made allusion to recent caricatures of her with her youngest child, Trig, whose face has been photoshopped out of pictures in a variety of ways, first by Alaska bloggers, then covered extensively by Wonkette and other humor sites.
Watching Palin give her conference, between her house and Todd's Piper Cub, she seems to be on the verge of facade crackup.
Although speculation about possible investigations into aspect of her conduct, both as Alaska Governor, and in her earlier job as Wasilla Mayor, has been rampant, there is no hard data to indicate that any of the rumored investigations into Palin or the Palins will come to a conclusion soon.
Most recently, she has seen a crash in fundraising efforts. Last week, the Palin shrine, Conservatives4Palin, concluded a weeklong effort to raise $500,000 for Palin's legal bils, having reached only 21% of their goal. Wednesday, the state began releasing figures that indicated the majority of expenses borne by the state, involving so-called "ethics complaints' involving Palin, have resulted from a complaint Palin had filed against herself, and from complaints that resulted in negotiated settlements adverse to the governor's claim that she is a crusader for ethics reform.
Her legal bills are approaching 2/3 of a million dollars. Much, if not almost all, of her legal bills stem from her own conduct as governor, and over issues having to do what her daughter's son's father is strongly suspected of holding over the family.
Yesterday, a new records request was filed by one of Alaska's most activist bloggers, Linda Kellen Biegel.
With the web publication of the August issue of Vanity Fair's long article about Palin, and the high level of infighting among GOP figures and people involved in the 2008 McCain-Palin campaign about aspects of that article, Palin, for the fourth week in a row, was insinuated into the news in a garish way unprecedented in American politics.
Outside of Alaska, once a week for the past month, she made headlines that couldn't have helped anyone's long-term prospects:
1) She went back and forth with the GOP on whether or not she would speak or even attend the summer's major fundraiser for GOP legislators.
2) She picked a fight with David Letternman. Only far right groups like the Tea Party and her most devoted advocates believe Palin won that fight.
3) The thorough portrait of Palin in Todd Purdam's Vanity Fair article seemed to be ushering in a review of the piles and piles of material that came out on Palin last year, during the fall presidential campaign.
Inside of Alaska, though, these past two weeks have had the potential of a looming disaster for her.
Resentment against her policies by Alaska Natives has been simmering just below a boil all winter and spring. This past week, the resentment boiled over into open civil disobedience, as villagers along the Yukon not only fished in closed waters to obtain food for winter, they defied Palin's law enforcement agencies openly. In the village of Marshall, police officers joined in the illegal subsistence fishing, not even bothering to hide their involvement.
I've caught her in at least four major lies during the past six or seven days.
What we are seeing here is either a preface to some indictment, or the final chapter in the career of what has been the biggest political joke of the 21st century. She is so obviously a combination of extreme narcissism and even more extremely bad advice by really, really pathetically bad advisors.
Watching the family scene at her house on the raw video running on CNN right now, it is obvious that little knowledge about this was shared ahead of time, no matter what Palin said in the conference itself.
Andrea Mitchell is now being reported as claiming Palin has told some close to her that she is through with politics.
No matter where this goes next, as a Democrat, I am very excited that we can use her eclipse to leverage enough excitement in 2010 to take over our state legislature. Whether we can also regain the governor's office or finally unseat Don Young depends on how good the candidates we put into those races are.
Our Alaska bloggers, so generously covered by Eric Boehlert in Bloggers on the Bus, feel like setting off our fireworks today!
I might even go out and buy a $100 bottle of wine to share with my wife. Any suggestions?
Update: This just in my inbox, from a source connected sometimes to CNN:
"Here's a quote I got from law enforcement here in Alaska yesterday afternoon regarding Palin "a criminal indictment is pending authorization."

Yes it has. I'd already speculated that it could be something like that in post #8.
I don't see what Sarah Palin quitting her job has to do with the Obamas though.

It's so sad that Sarah had to endure endless attacks from the left that left her and her husband having to pay legal bills for frivolous law suits. Strange things happen to those that make the "one" feel threatened.
The "one" wants to impose strict cap and tax on the people who he promised he wouldn't raise taxes for. Nice going, while he will live in comfort and luxury the elderly and the poor will have to suffer when it's hot or cold. I wonder how many people will go hungry because it will drive up the cost of food.
He will still serve $100 per pound meat at his cocktail parties. He doesn't care, remember last winter he kept to oval office so hot they could have grown orchids. What would he care how much fuel gets wasted by his family taking a different plane at the tax payers expense. He wants the public to give up their cars for tin cans on wheels and yet he rides in a limo. I think "the one" is against America and it's freedoms. Remember the hateful way they talked about America in his church. Remember how hateful his wife was about America. I'm ashamed of a country that put this dictator in power.
I'm so very ashamed and I was proud of my country until November.

Why is it so difficult for people to stay on topic. This thread is not about Obama and his policies. It is about Sarah Palin quitting her job.

What am I just guessing? She quit, plain and simple. I never speculated on why I simply posted the link.
