Napolitano: NO testing of passengers from Mexico
US says not testing travelers from Mexico for flu
26 Apr 2009 17:19:55 GMT

WASHINGTON, April 26 (Reuters) - The United States is not testing airplane travelers from Mexico for the swine flu virus that has heightened fears of a possible pandemic, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on Sunday.
"Right now we don't think the facts warrant more active testing or screening of passengers coming in from Mexico," she said at a White House briefing.

SNAP ANALYSIS-New swine flu likely widespread, experts say
25 Apr 2009 21:06:44 GMT
Source: Reuters
By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor
WASHINGTON, April 25 (Reuters) - A new and unusual strain of swine flu is likely widespread and impossible to contain at this point, experts agree.
The H1N1 strain has killed at least 20 people and possibly 48 more in Mexico and has been confirmed in at least eight people in the United States, all of whom had mild illness.
Probable cases also were found at a school in the New York City borough of Queens and experts at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say they fully expect to find more cases. Here is why:
* This new strain of influenza has shown it can spread easily from person to person.
* It has been found in several places and among people who had no known contact. This suggests there is an unseen chain of infection and that the virus has been spreading quietly.
* This can happen because respiratory illnesses are very common and doctors rarely test patients for flu. People could have had the swine virus and never known it.
* At least in the United States, it has so far only been found in people who had mild illness, another factor that would have allowed it to spread undetected.
* World Health Organization director Dr. Margaret Chan has said the new strain of H1N1 has the potential to become a pandemic strain because it does spread easily and does cause serious disease.
* CDC experts note that while it is possible to contain an outbreak of disease that is in one limited area, once it is reported in widespread locations, the spread is impossible to control. (For full coverage of the flu outbreak, click on [nFLU]) (Editing by Xavier Briand)

She's a moron? Have you any idea how much it would cost to test everyone entering from Mexico?
So far, the cases have been fairly mild here.

just announced 56 minute ago:
Swine Flu Forces Changes at Travelers
WASHINGTON (WXYZ) - U.S. officials will begin asking travelers about illness if they're entering the country from areas with confirmed swine flu.
Passengers won't be barred from getting into the United States. But they could be referred for further testing.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano characterized the step as more "passive surveillance," saying airline workers certainly could tell people they shouldn't fly if ill.
In addition, multiple airlines have started waiving change fees for passengers flying through Mexico because of the outbreak of swine flu, but have not canceled any flights.
American Airlines said Sunday it will waive its usual penalty for changing reservations for anyone traveling to, from or through Mexico from Saturday through May 6. It applies to anyone who bought their ticket before Saturday.

And they wondered how the bird flu would become able to transfer from person to person. Hmmmm, can we say MUTATION?

As I've said before, I firmly believe that it would be just fine with this admin if we have an epidemic of it. They would then exploit it so they could push through universal health care as an emergency during a crisis.
I really believe that their attitude is, get it at all costs. If 100 people die from swine flu in the meantime, so be it.
Everything that I'm seeing confirms it, including this latest stunt (no testing necessary).
It's a hard reality to face about the people leading your country and I don't want to think that, but I don't see any evidence otherwise. and I find it scary.......

You know whats strange. If you watch those movies on tv about sicknesses that could and do kill people the first thing they do is keep people from coming into or out of the country that has the sickness. Yet in real life they don't do that. Or they at least test people coming into our country to make sure they're not bringing it into our country. We know where it came from and yet we don't test people coming from Mexico at least. I heard some of the other countries are using heat sensors and the people that have elevated heat they pull aside and test. Why not do that?

I have a strong suspicion that anotherstar is right.
I think they aren't going to test people coming from Mexico because they want there government controlled health care.

We have the technology. You know they could have thermal imaging cameras at that border lickety split.
Why won't they do that? I think we all know why.
