Aww, they're dying in the desert. Poor babies. Sorry but if you die during the commission of a crime I don't feel sorry for you. I don't care if you are a bank robber shot by a security guard or an illegal crossing the border. They are both criminals.

    My favorite part :

The effort is being done on the government's dime — an irony not lost on the designers whose salaries are paid by the state of California.

"There are many, many areas in which every American would say I don't like the way my tax dollars are being spent. Our answer to that is an in-your-face, [so what?" says UCSD lecturer Brett Stalbaum, 33, a self-described news junkie who likens his role to chief technology officer.

: Should federal money be spent building a bike path in NH ? That seems like an example of what local and state funds should be paying for while federal dollars should be on larger projects - bridges, hospitals, ect JMHO

ICE Agent and union president Chris Crane made some stunning revelations during testimony before the Senate. Crane exposed that agents are no longer allowed to arrest illegal aliens "solely for illegal entry OR expired visas" and that under current policy illegals must now be convicted of 3 or more criminal misdemeanors before ICE agents are permitted to charge or arrest them for illegal entry or overstaying a visa. ICE agents are prohibited from making arrests and even from asking questions “under the threat of disciplinary action.” This is INSANE. Our immigration enforcement has been decimated by Obama and Napolitano, which is why Crane and 10 of his officers are SUING the DHS.

ICE Agent Reveals Shocking Details About Obama’s Dismantling of Immigration Enforcement
By John Hill on April 1, 2013

Chris Crane, president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council 118, made a number of stunning revelations during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee — and he’s begging Congress for help. The ICE union boss argued that agents are no longer allowed to arrest illegal aliens solely for illegal entry or expired visas and morale is at an all-time low.

Most Americans would be shocked to find out that immigration agents are regularly “prohibited from enforcing the two most fundamental sections of United States immigration law,” he said. Instead, the administration has ordered that only illegals charged or convicted of “very serious criminal offenses” may be arrested or charged by ICE agents and officers.

“In fact, under current policy individuals illegally in the United States must now be convicted of 3 or more criminal misdemeanors before ICE agents are permitted to charge or arrest the illegal alien for illegal entry or overstaying a visa,” he added. That is unless the misdemeanors involve assault, sexual abuse or drug trafficking.

Even more shocking, Crane said ICE agents or officers who witness a violation of immigration law are prohibited from making arrests and even from asking questions “under the threat of disciplinary action.”

Citing a recent morale survey disseminated throughout federal agencies, Crane said ICE ranks 279 out of 291 in employee morale and job satisfaction. He has previously asked the Obama administration to help address the plummeting morale and dissatisfaction among ICE agents.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration is continually making it nearly impossible for agents to enforce federal immigration law because they allow special interests groups to influence policy, Crane explained.

“The day-to day duties of ICE agents and officers often seem in conflict with the law as ICE officers are prohibited from enforcing many laws enacted by Congress; laws they took an oath to enforce,” he said. “ICE is now guided in large part by influences of powerful special interest groups that advocate on behalf of illegal aliens.”

Crane continued: “These influences have in large part eroded the order, stability and effectiveness of the agency, creating confusion among ICE employees. For the last four years it has been a roller coaster for ICE officers with regard to who they can or cannot arrest, and which federal laws they will be permitted to enforce. Most of these directives restricting enforcement are given only verbally to prevent written evidence from reaching the public.”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWNiV...layer_embedded

All of these restrictions being placed on ICE employees has put them in increased danger and the agency has seen assaults against ICE officers and agents continue to rise as “ICE arrestees become increasingly more violent and criminal in nature.”

You may be surprised to know that ICE agents are also prohibited from carrying life saving protective equipment like Tasers while on duty. Crane said ICE won’t approve the equipment due to “political reasons.”

“Death or serious injury to ICE officers and agents appears more acceptable to ICE, DHS and administration leadership than the public complaints that would be lodged by special interest groups,” he added.

    Crane closed with this:

“In closing, while deeply concerned by the actions of our agency, as well as the current state and future of immigration enforcement, we are optimistic that all of these matters can be resolved with the assistance of members of Congress.
Only time will tell if lawmakers will answer the repeated pleas for help.

Desperate Dem Terry McAuliffe sues Watchdog.org over green tech/cash-for-visas exposé
    By Michelle Malkin • April 15, 2013 10:58 AM

Welcome to today’s edition of Bully the Messenger. First, I want to take you back to 2001. That’s when I first reported on a little-known cash-for-visas immigration racket known as the EB-5 program. As I wrote 12 years ago, this government racket has morphed into a crony cash cow : http://www.jewishworldreview.com/mic...lkin012401.asp

This fraud-ridden scheme was created under an obscure section of the 1990 Immigration Act, signed by Bush’s father. Known as the EB-5 law, it allows wealthy foreigners to purchase green cards by investing between $500,000 and $1 million into new commercial enterprises or troubled businesses. After two years, foreign investors, their spouses, and children all receive permanent resident status – which allows them to contribute to U.S. political campaigns and provides a speedy gateway to citizenship.

Making political access and the privilege of citizenship available to the highest foreign bidder offends the very ideals Bush wants to promote. Arkansas Senator Dale Bumpers, a longtime critic of the program, noted: “All you need is green. You do not have to know anything about the poor and huddled masses that Emma Lazarus wrote about…How crassly we demean this precious blessing we call citizenship.”

Supporters of the program claimed it would attract substantial overseas investment to aid struggling American businesses. But the benefits of this economic development plan have gone mostly to former Immigration and Naturalization Service officials, who formed lucrative limited partnerships to cash in on their access.

Here’s how the racket worked: Immigrant investors paid token fees to these partnerships. The partnerships secured promissory notes for the remainder of the foreign investments, which were forgiven after investors received their permanent green cards. Former INS employees, working for these partnerships, aggressively lobbied their old colleagues to accept such bogus financial arrangements. As a result, according to an internal U.S. Justice Department investigative report, “aliens were paying $125K” instead of the required $500,000 to $1million minimum, and “almost all of the monies went to the General Partners and the companies who set up the limited partners.”

A Baltimore Sun investigation last year found “only a tiny fraction of the money ever made it to the companies seeking assistance.” Many of the distressed U.S. firms that the program intended to help have closed because they never received promised funding.

Steven Perlman, a New York City immigration lawyer who sued the government to disclose parts of the internal investigative report, told me last week that the EB-5 program became a “money-making machine.” That wouldn’t have been possible, Perlman notes, without political protection. One INS document indicates that officials worried about keeping “promises to the Hill.” When the agency finally moved to end fraud, “influential Members of Congress protested,” according to the New York Times.
This history lesson and context is important because a dozen years later, the program still exists largely un-policed and continues to set off alarm bells. The Franklin Center’s invaluable Watchdog.org reported earlier this month that an enviro start-up founded by Terry McAuliffe has raised the eyebrows of Virginia officials over its use of the EB-5 program. Documents from Virginia Economic Development Partnership authorities obtained by Watchdog.org and others expressed “grave doubts” about the company’s plan to raise capital through extension of the EB-5 program into their region. https://www.documentcloud.org/docume...ment/p8/a87238

“We are concerned that the financing plan does not fit the rules for the EB-5 program,” one official wrote. Investors would not receive the visas they thought they would receive, he noted, and this would give Virginia a “black eye.” He raised additional red flags about the financing and conflict-of-interest problems of the deal:

GreenTech Automotive Inc. is now suing Watchdog.org for an alleged $85-million loss after publication of two articles about the company. http://watchdog.org/79437/mcauliffe-...n-libel-claim/

Full complaint is here (pdf). http://franklincenterhq.org/wp-conte...entechsuit.pdf

“Specifically, as a direct and express result of the articles published by Defendants … investors are wavering in their commitment to provide $25 million in investments already promised to GTA,” the lawsuit said. “GTA…intended to raise $60 million in capital, (and) is now in significant danger as a direct result of the loss of investor confidence in GTA arising from the publication of Defendants’ articles.”
Question: Why isn’t GreenTech slapping Virginia officials with such an outlandish lawsuit? Hint: They work for the administration of liberal Democrat Gov. Tim Kaine.

Given the pre-existing concerns about financing expressed by the Virginia economic development officials, the idea that Watchdog.org’s articles are to blame for investors’ “wavering…commitment” smacks of desperation and demagoguery.

    And yes, stark intimidation.
Jason Stverak, president of Watchdog’s parent company the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, said the lawsuit is baseless.

“As Watchdog explained in clarifications and updated versions of the articles posted on April 5, these articles were not intended to – and did not – accuse GreenTech of fraud,” Stverak said. “We are confident that GreenTech’s claims are without merit and we will continue to report on this important story.”

GTA counts among its allies Hillary Clinton’s brother, Anthony Rodham, who shares an office with GTA and is CEO of Gulf Coast Funds Management, an EB-5 center that raises visa-investor money for GTA. McAuliffe also was chief fundraiser for Clinton’s presidential bid. Bill Clinton made a high-profile visit to the company last year.

The lawsuit, accusing Watchdog of defamation and interference with business relations, was filed Monday in Mississippi where GTA says it plans to build an auto plant. On April 1 and 3, Watchdog detailed the travails of McAuliffe’s car company funding and challenges to enter the marketplace by next year. The lawsuit also names two web sites that ran the Watchdog story, one in Chinese.

In response to McAuliffe’s 2009 request for public support of GreenTech Automotive in his home state of Virginia, then-Gov. Tim Kaine’s administration expressed “grave doubts” about the project’s viability, according to documents obtained by Watchdog.org, National Review and Washington Post.
Question: Does McAuliffe, who is running for governor in Virginia, really want to follow through on this crass bullying attempt? Legal discovery is a two-way street, pal.

Says Stverak: “They want to shut us up…They grossly miscalculated because we will not be silent and we will continue to report on this and any story that is important to the public. Are we scared? No, we have truth on our side and facts to back up our story.”

I stand with the Franklin Center. http://franklincenterhq.org/stand-wi...b03dcc3f60b074 Every blogger, citizen journalist, and limited-government/new media activist should. When political operatives can’t stand the sunlight, they reach for the litigation duct tape.

All of us have been screaming this from the rooftops for years. We are dealing with a hardened cadre of professional politicians who have weaponized our own federal government against us. They have effectively turned it into a criminal racketeering operation. The sooner we all accept that fact as a people, the sooner we can begin to call it out, attack it, and then destroy it.

    This is not "reformable."

Immigration hearing postponed to give Senators time to read bill
    1:07 PM 04/15/2013

A spokesman for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio says a hearing scheduled Wednesday in the Senate on the comprehensive immigration reform effort being pushed by the the Republican and seven other senators will be postponed until the end of the week.

“BREAKING: Lots of concern there wouldn’t be enough time to read bill before Wednesday’s Judiciary hearing, so hearing’s been moved to Friday,” Rubio spokesman Alex Conant wrote on Twitter.

A text of the massive bill, which was crafted without public scrutiny by a bipartisan group of senators popularly called the ”Gang of Eight,” has not yet been released. NBC News reported Monday that the Gang of Eight’s members are “racing to complete” the legislation and hope to present it formally on Tuesday.

The legislation, an apparent portion of which has been leaked, is expected to provide conditional legalization to 11 million illegal immigrants and allow 250,000 low-wage farm-workers to work in the states and eventually apply for citizenship. http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/15/so...s-over-skills/
