I am glad I quit back in 2000 when ours went up 25 cents a pack to 3.00 per pack. Well with those prices I would assume a lot of people will quit smoking.

It is a shame that we have the two party system, I really like some of the ideas from the other parties. It's just if you vote for someone in one of the other parties it is like throwing your vote away.

I just think that the democrats have gone so far away from what they used to be and they have really turned into socialists or worse. I'm sure that was one of the reasons I spoke out so much during the election. I want my children to grow up in a country that still has freedom. I want individual rights to count and I can't tolerate a party that think an unborn infant isn't worth fighting for. These late term abortion are murdering inocent babies just weeks before they would be born.

no throwing your vote away would be not voting at all.

I don't think that I threw my vote away by voting for someone other than McCain or the serpent...

When people continue the belief that if you don't vote for Repub or Democrat you are throwing your vote away, then that is the way things will remain -- no one will vote except for Rep or Dem... and that's the biggest shame of everything.

This time around I felt I couldn't take any chances. I voted for McCain, mostly because his VP pick, Sarah Palin stood for my believes. I really admire her and what she stands up for. I also think McCain is a very good man and has always been conservative and anti pork. I also admire what his wife Cindy has done over the years for underpriveleged children. I had to make my vote count against Obama because he is a complete oposite of what I stand for. His position on abortion alone was enough but then I realize that he was into Marxism and Socialism and communism. I want my kids to grow up knowing freedom and it breaks my heart that so many people were willing to throw our countries freedom away.

I get what surfergirl is trying to say. Mostly because if you cannot get enough people to vote for the same independant it is kind like throwing a vote away. Which is (IMO) how Obama won. Think about it. I know alot of people who wrote in several different name. Like Hillary, Ron Paul and the other one (can't recall name now). And since you have possibly millions who who voted in all different directions it helped get Obama elected. I'm not saying I was a Big McCain fan. I just thought he would be more responsible with the economy and bipart. etc.
Trust me I was not pleased with the last 2 choices we ended up with!!

This is a link to an article that is a bit long but I feel it is very important and puts many of the pieces all together in a way that is easy to follow.

I totally understand what she is saying too -- but it is wrong thinking.

It is the same concept of couponing ----

you have coupons that say (example) $1.00 off 1 Tylenol, any size EXCEPT TRIAL SIZE.

Ok... so you head to Target or Chinamart... they have, in their TRAVEL section, 8 count bottles of Tylenol for 97 cents each .

NO WHERE on that box of Tylenol does it say TRIAL SIZE!! Those are TRAVEL SIZE... NOT trial size!!!

**your TRIAL size items will SAY trial size on the package!! Everything else is TRAVEL size, and not subject to the limitations of the coupon!!**

So, if you change your thinking, then you realize that if you can get ahold of 32 coupons for $1/1 Tylenol, then you can get 32 bottles from the TRAVEL SIZE section for FREE....

why 32 coupons??? well, you figure that a full bottle of 250 Tylenol will cost you about $15.00 plus tax...

32 coupons for $1/1 x 8 count bottles = 256 tablets of Tylenol = FREE!
Save $15 for something else.

I completely understand the thinking though -- so everyone should change their thinking (or tweak their thinking)...

If you will read that article in the link above, in fact here it is again.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/..._strategy.html

Most of this information was all available to us but that article puts it together in a way that explains it very well. You would realize why most of us couldn't take a risk. Plus as I explained I really thought Sarah Palin stood for what I believe in. I also like the McCains with all there money and they do so much to help underprivileged kids. That make them really good people by my standards.

atprm, most of the time we agree but when the poles show that the other parties don't have a chance and we know how extreme one of the candidates is at that point we really couldn't take a chance. McCain is a good man and although not perfect a much better choice. I really think that Sarah Palin would have made a great VP and hopefully president someday.
I agree with her values and really respect the fact that she even stood up to her own party to make things better for the people in her state. Why do you think that the media and the democrats were so afraid of her. Because she would stand up to the corruption and waste in Washington DC

Still wondering why American beef isn't good enough for the white house and why they need 2 personal cheifs.

http://faminchin.newsvine.com/_news/...ak-celebration
So I listened today as Barack Obama scolded Wall Street executives for their bonuses last year, and while I was listening to him I couldn't stop thinking about the swank dinner party that Obama threw last night celebrating the house passing his massive spending bill.

While Obama is scolding executives for their spending, there seems to be no limit to what he is willing to spend. First, if you haven't heard, he has brought his "private chef" from Chicago to the White House. That's right, Obama had a private chef before he was president, doesn't everybody? The old White House chef will also stay so we will be paying them both to feed Obama and his family.

This just after the most expensive inaugural event in our nations history, just after his exclusive Hawaii vacation.

Anyway, back to last night, he invited a bunch of congressmen and senators to dinner to celebrate his new "pork" bill passing the house, which started with alcoholic beverages for everybody and included "wagyu steak" on the menu. I know, I know, what's wagyu steak your probably wondering? Look it up! It's meat that cost $125 per pound, and don't rush out to the grocery store to buy some because it's something reserved for only the upper crust of society, and our politicians since they eat on our tax dollar. This is change we can depend on for sure!
Don't even get me started on the spending bill that passed and created this celebration. My advise is take a look at the details for yourself. There is more pork in this thing than there is in the Jimmy Dean sausage factory! Creating jobs they say.....yeah right! It's more like political paybacks and buying votes! I feel sure your great grandchildren won't mind paying for all of this, since they are the ones that will pay.

So don't forget to turn your thermostat down tonight, Obama has called on us all to make sacrifices...remember?

In the mean time, he will continue to sacrifice as much of our tax dollars as he possibly can while in office, dancing around and shouting, "Yes We Can!"
