They can play vid clips all day long that mock Palin, McCain, Bush and any other conservatives .... but poke fun at a Democrat or Liberal cause ... that is simply not allowed.

Campaign Comedy: Tuesday's late-night TV wrap-up
By LYNN ELBER, AP Television Writer Wed Oct 8, 9:02 AM ET LOS ANGELES - Political debates inform voters — and provide material for late-night TV show hosts. "Tonight's presidential debate took place in Nashville, Tenn. Which is perfect, because the economy right now is like a bad country music song: `I lost my girl, I lost the house, the dog died,'" Jay Leno said on NBC's "Tonight Show." Although "Tonight" and other shows were taped before Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama met Tuesday night — Jon Stewart of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" labeled it a "space-time continuum problem" — the jokes wouldn't be stopped. "Tonight's presidential debate was a town hall forum," said Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report." "See, that allows the candidates to go around the media filter and lets regular Americans ask the questions that the candidates can ignore to deliver their stump speeches." Obama took one for the "Tonight" show. "It's a town hall format, which is John McCain's favorite way to speak to crowds. As opposed to Barack Obama's favorite way, a sermon on a mount," Leno quipped. McCain's age proved a subject that never gets old. "The second presidential debate is tonight, and beforehand John McCain said that the `gloves are coming off.' Then McCain said, `But don't worry, the diaper is staying on,'" quipped Conan O'Brien on NBC's "Late Night." With the debate format, "the candidates can walk around freely," noted Craig Ferguson on CBS' "The Late Late Show." "McCain prepared by putting new tennis balls on his walker." Meanwhile, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, was holding fast as a late-night mainstay. "In Boca Raton, Fla., yesterday, a woman who looked like Sarah Palin caused a near-riot when she walked into a diner for breakfast," Leno said. "After a minute or two, people finally realized it wasn't her when she started answering questions." "Is there anything this woman can't make sound folksy?" Stewart said of Palin. "`And let's not forget about that doggone genocide in Rwanda!'" "In a recent speech, Sarah Palin referred to Afghanistan as `our neighboring country.' Then she promised to find Osama bin Laden in the mountains of Toronto," O'Brien said. And Palin starred atop CBS "Late Show" host David Letterman's list of Top 10 Signs You Are Watching a Bad Debate: "It's 90 minutes of folksy phrases and winking." The economy and the current president didn't escape skewering. "The bad news: The Dow dropped 500 points today. The good news: I didn't know there were 500 left," said Colbert. "President Bush's response to the economic crisis was to meet with small business owners at a soda shop in San Antonio, Texas, this week. The bad news: The small business owners are now General Motors, General Electric, Century 21," offered Leno. O'Brien's take: "President Bush gave a speech today about the economy and he said that he believes that `anyone who makes bad decisions should fail.' Then Bush looked around the room and said, `Hey, why did it get so quiet in here?'" ___ CBS is a division of CBS Corp. NBC is owned by General Electric Co. Well, well, well.
Peter Viles at L.A. Land reports that Saturday Night Live is rewriting its forbidden Soros/Sandler-bashing bailout skit because it “didn’t meet their standards.” Translation: It didn’t meet George Soros’s and the Sandlers’ standards! Censorship by any other name is still Censorship The scoop: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lala...rtgage-me.html Quote:
As for standards… Oh, the show that brought us “Dice Man’s Employment Agency”, “Colon Blow” and “Massive Headwound Harry” is supposed to have standards? I am thinking the writers and artists will not appreciate this decision and will find creative ways to ridicule NBC for throwing them under the bus. Could get very interesting. Commenter madmonk: “Standard[s]? What standards? They ‘joked’ about incest in the Palin family. So again… what standards?” Sometimes you have to be thankful when your opponents are stupid. This is one such time, as they cannot help drawing attention to the original skit, while their backtracking via rewrite will only reinforce the message of the original. Thanks NBC for helping our cause. Never thought we’d see the MSM help get the message out that Democrats, Soros, and predators like the Sanders bear responsibility for the current financial crisis.

Whose standards are they talking about?
If they "rewrite" that video they certainly should rewrite the Palin incest video. You can't get much lower than that. Standards, that is a hoot. I thought the Soros/Sandler skit was very fair for a change. LOL Wouldn't you know they would yank it. |

Sarah Palin's SNL Problem
Joal Ryan Thu Oct 9, 1:01 PM ET Los Angeles (E! Online) - So, what happens if Sarah Palin does Sarah Palin? With the TV world waiting to see if the Alaskan governor pops up on tonight's Saturday Night Live special, one new study says that when Tina Fey does Palin, the Alaskan governor's favorability rating drops. The poll, conducted yesterday by a research company and a college-based public-opinion institute, asked 314 people how they felt about Palin after watching an SNL sketch spoofing the consonant-dropping vice presidential hopeful. (There was no word on which sketch was watched—so far, Fey's gotten Palin good three times.) The results? Unsurprisingly, Palin's favorability rating among her fellow Republicans held steady and strong, dropping just 1 point to 79 percent. Just as unsurprisingly, Palin's already low favorability rating among rival Democrats fell even further, down to 17 percent, a drop of 7 points. Among all-important swing voters, Palin's appeal to unaligned independents fell 4 percent, to 33 percent. The bottom line: Among all voters, Palin's favorability rating slipped 4 points, down to 43 percent. "SNL has had an impact on the political process," says Jeff Weingrad, who, with coauthor Doug Hill, wrote the book, literally, on the landmark show, Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live. "The fact is that SNL does some political satire and people know about it, and people talk about it:" The buzz on the Fey-Palin sketches has helped drive up SNL's ratings about 50 percent over last season. Still, Weingard doesn't think SNL will lose, or win, the election for Palin and John McCain, just as he doesn't think SNL necessarily doomed the show's first political target, President Ford. "For the most part, that type of satire is generally preaching to the converted," he says. If SNL's political history has shown anything, it's that politicians will never stop trying to convert the show's audience to their side. In the past year, McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have all made appearances. Speculation has Palin adding her name to that list before the November election, and maybe as soon as tonight. If being spoofed is no fun—or helpful to the poll numbers—then joining the spoofers runs its own risks. (See Ford's videotaped appearance on a 1976 SNL that ramped up its jabs on his perceived buffoonery and featured a parody commercial for a jam called Painful Rectal Itch.) "I don't know if I would have her go on the show," Weingrad says of Palin. "She runs the risk of Republicans feeling this is too serious of a time for her to be fooling around on SNL. And she runs the risk of not everybody pulls it off." Fey's Palin, after all, is pretty tough to beat. http://news.yahoo.com/s/eonline/2008...yOJJhKs6EnHL8C

Well I thought it was all in good fun until I heard Chevy Chase say he hoped Fey decimated Palin. I posted a thread on here about him. The title---You Can Shut Your Pie Hole, Chevy Chase.
I had hoped people where smart enough to look beyond SNL to figure out who to vote for but guess not. It's amazing how insecure people are, especially men, when they see a strong, intelligent, feminist who does not agree with them. They just can not be a feminist if they are conservative. So I am starting a "Shut Your Pie Hole" list of men who are insecure about strong, intelligent, feminists who happen to be conservative. Such hatred drips from them. Feel free to add your own.
