A Florida mother described by friends as a "habitual liar" was arrested in connection with the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter, who has been missing since June 9.

Casey Marie Anthony showed no emotion Thursday as she was ordered held without bond at the Orange County Jail, MyFOXOrlando.com reported. She was charged with child neglect and providing false information to law enforcement.

Anthony claimed she dropped off her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, at a friend's house but has since lost contact with the friend.

The judge scolded the mother, saying she had "no regret or concern for her actions," The Orlando-Sentinel reported.

"You left your 2-year-old child with a person who does not exist at an apartment you cannot identify and you lied to your parents about your child's whereabouts," said Judge John Jordan. "You cared so little about your child."

He ordered a mental health evaluation be done on Anthony, according to the newspaper.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department told FOXNews.com that they have no reason to belive the toddler is dead.

"[We are] still operating under the hope she is going to turn up alive," said Deputy Sheriff Carlos Padilla. "[But] we are no closer today than we were yesterday."

Padilla said Anthony claims the child's father is not alive — something authorities are still looking into.

It was not clear why Anthony never reported the child missing. The girl's grandparents decided to file the report on Tuesday after learning that Anthony's car had been towed from a location that was nowhere near where she claimed to be staying.

"I’ve had the feeling the past couple of weeks that Casey's been holding back," the grandmother, Cindy Anthony, told MyFOXOrlando.com. "I’ve been asking to speak with my granddaughter and she’s been making excuses that I can't talk to her because she’s with someone else or she’s swimming or napping."

Anthony told her mother she was being sent to Tampa for work and would be back in a few days, but later changed her story and said she was going on a "mini-vacation," according to The Orlando-Sentinel.

"I had no reason to believe they weren't where they were supposed to be," the newspaper quoted Cindy Anthony as saying. "I don't know why she fabricated this."

Casey Anthony told police her daughter wasn't at the baby sitter's house when she went to pick the child up, so she started to do her own investigation.

She went to clubs that the baby sitter frequented and identified her as Zenaida Gonzalez, police said. But when police went to the apartment Anthony said belonged to the alleged baby sitter, they learned it had been vacant for almost five months, the newspaper reported.

When detectives caught up with Gonzalez and showed her pictures of both Anthony and her daughter, she said she did not recognize them.

In what seemed to be the latest in a string of lies, Anthony also told authorities that she worked at Universal Studios, and gave names of people who could vouch for her, according to The Orlando-Sentinel. But officials later learned she never worked at the theme park — and neither did the people she mentioned.

Anthony's father, George M. Anthony, said that his daughter is a good mother and would never hurt his grandchild.

"My daughter is a fantastic mother," he told FOX News. "We never had any reason to believe she would not be a good mother. Our granddaughter's in capable hands. She was nurturing, she always did the right thing. That was never, ever a question in our minds. I never once saw my daughter raise her voice."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has seen Caylee to call the crime line at 1-800-423-TIPS.

It is so funny how different tv stations publish more lies. Like this one:
In what seemed to be the latest in a string of lies, Anthony also told authorities that she worked at Universal Studios, and gave names of people who could vouch for her, according to The Orlando-Sentinel. But officials later learned she never worked at the theme park — and neither did the people she mentioned.

Actually she did work at Universal Studios but was fired TWO years ago.

The reason they were digging up the Grandparents yard was that several neighbors reported that while the Grandparents were out of town they saw the daughter at their home.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Investigators are actively pursuing hundreds of leads -- even tips from other states -- in the search for a missing 2-year-old Central Florida girl.

Caylee Marie Anthony, 2, has been missing for five weeks but was not reported lost by her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, detectives said.

Over the weekend, deputies continued to try to piece together conflicting stories to determine what happened to Caylee.

Casey Anthony has remained quiet concerning the girl's location.

Girl Called This Week, Grandmother Says
Meanwhile, Caylee's grandmother, Cindy Anthony, said she believes the missing girl called her mother the day the 22-year-old was arrested, Local 6 reported. She said she is convinced the child is still alive.

"Casey got a phone call (saying) 'Hi mommy' for just a brief second," Anthony said. "And when Casey said, 'Put an adult on the phone Caylee,' the phone went dead.'"

Cindy Anthony said she believes her daughter would only put her granddaughter in the care of someone who would really take care of her.

"I know Casey knows who has her," Cindy Anthony said. "I'm dying inside every day, every minute and every second not having Caylee in my life and I know these guys are too and I know Casey is as well."

Police took Casey Anthony into custody Wednesday when she refused to lead them to her daughter.

"She is fearful of something," Cindy Anthony said. "She doesn't want to hurt me or have me hurt mentally or physically about something. But I know with her calm demeanor that she is confident that Caylee is alive."

Family members said Caylee is probably in the care of somebody she is comfortable with.

Friday, crews dug in the back yard of the home of Cindy and George Anthony, located on Hopepring Drive in Orlando. However, the search was abandoned.

The investigation has shifted to Anthony's car and different locations.

"We are running this investigation in several different directions," Orange County sheriff's Sgt. John Allen said.

On Wednesday, Casey Anthony told detectives that she was doing her own investigation into her daughter's disappearance, Local 6 reported.

The woman also said she saw movies and reports that if people in similar situations went to the police, they had gotten hurt.

During questioning, detectives said Casey Anthony did not show any emotion over the loss of her child. She did not cry or give any indication she was legitimately worried.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Caylee is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

Watch Local 6 News for more on this developing story.

This statement is part of what leads me to believe that she "sold" the child, hopefully to someone who desperately wanted to adopt.

Grandma says mom knows who has missing Fla. girl
By TRAVIS REED, Associated Press Writer

ORLANDO, Fla. - The grandmother of a 2-year-old central Florida girl missing since early June said Monday that the mother, who was jailed after police said she didn't report the disappearance for more than a month, knows who has the toddler.

A lawyer for the girl's mother, Casey Anthony, said his client wants to help investigators and urged authorities to release her.

Anthony, 22, was arrested last week after telling authorities that her daughter Caylee Marie Anthony had been missing since June 9. Casey Anthony was charged with child neglect and criminal obstruction for allegedly lying to detectives.

Her mother, Cindy Anthony, said Monday on NBC's "Today" that her daughter should be released so she can help detectives.

"I know Casey knows who has her," she said. "I know Casey doesn't know where they're at right at the moment. But I don't know anything else right now because I can't speak to my daughter. And we're trying to get that changed very quickly."

Casey Anthony's lawyer, Jose Baez, said his client wants to cooperate with authorities.

"She is a good mother and has no history of being a bad mother," Baez said at a news conference Monday. "She wants to find her daughter."

Sheriff's officials say Anthony has repeatedly lied to them and showed little emotion or concern over her missing daughter in interviews just before her arrest.

Orange County Sheriff's deputy Carlos Padilla said Baez hasn't returned detectives' calls to set up a meeting.

"The key lies in the mother, and we would hope the lawyer would allow the detectives to speak to her in his presence to find out exactly where this child is," Padilla said. "This lawyer has taken the time to take this to the media, but he's not yet returned the phone calls to discuss this."

Anthony is being held without bail and scheduled in court Tuesday.

Last week, investigators used cadaver-sniffing dogs and dug through Cindy Anthony's backyard looking for the toddler. Detectives say Casey Anthony asked a neighbor to borrow a shovel around the time her daughter went missing.

They said she contacted police last week because the girl's grandmother was concerned.

Anthony told detectives she didn't call authorities immediately because she was conducting her own investigation, according to the charging affidavit. The apartment where she said she dropped off the girl hadn't been occupied in months, and Casey Anthony gave detectives a bogus employer, manager's name and work telephone number, according to the affidavit.

As much as this girl has lied, I would not let her out of my sight. I think she knows more then she is saying ... but I think she would also take a slip and make a runner at the first chance she gets.

None of them sound too bright. The Sheriff's office isn't going to just go "ok go free" to this girl. She knows good and well where this kid is and has NO intention of telling anyone where she is. It is just a game to her and the game is "keep my kid away from my mother".

Whatever this woman is, her parents are at the very least PARTLY responsible for.

Could be that is why she wants to keep her daughter from her mother.

That being said, I realize that the Police have rules they have to follow....

They should call in a concerned parent like me, who has had the benefit of seeing some of the awfulness of war.

I would get the location of her kid out of her inside of 15 minutes without doing any permanent harm.
