Baby found dead in fire pit
Federal Way, WA -A six-month-old baby is dead after falling into a fire pit and burning to death.
Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said the father told investigators that he fell asleep in the backyard with the boy Saturday night, and when he woke up the child was missing. He said he went inside to ask his wife if she had the baby, and when they returned to the yard they found the boy covered with burns in the fire pit at the house in the 2600 block of SW 333rd Place. Neighbors rushed over when they heard screams, but it was too late to save the boy. Neighbor Levi Thomas said the baby's name was Diego. "He was your typical six-month-old, all smiles and coos, vibrant and young, waiting for a chance to grow," he said. Detectives questioned the child's parents and neighbors, and officials said the father could face charges. ________________________________ I couldn't get the link to post right but here's the link to the story and then there's a link to the video http://www.komonews.com/news/local/20731444.html I haven't looked at that video yet

And the parents must be nuts. Who falls asleep when they are outside with their 6 month old child? And what was the mom doing? She never checked on them? How could you not have heard the baby screaming but the neighbors could??

On the TV, they said that the dad said he fell asleep next to the fire pit with the baby. I don't know about you, but that baby was probably screaming when it hit the fire and I would've heard my child (of course I wouldn't be dumb enough to sleep right next to a fire pit).

I agree there has to be more to the story. There is no way in &%#$ they did not hear that baby scream. That poor baby! There are so many couples that would love to have a child. Both of the parents should be charged for this. Send them to Sherriff Joes jail lol.

Someone correct me if im wrong but even a 6 month old falling off his lap and then crawling over seems far-fetched. I think the screams that got the neighbors attention was from the mother. I personally would never have thought twice about leaving DS with his daddy outside, but SO isnt stupid enough to sit right next to the fire either. No, something is definately wrong about this story (to me, anyway) |

This story makes no sense. If the baby rolled/fell off the dad right into the fire pit those screams would have woken him. If he rolled off and crawled away he would have touched one hand to the fire pit before pulling it away and screaming. He would not have kept crawling into the fire.

Have you ever seen, heard, smelled a body burning? It is horrendous. The noise alone is enough to wake the dead not to mention the smell. Plus this child made no cries out for help? Something is definitely not right.

That is crazy! Someone had to put that baby in there. It's not like the baby crawled in.
