Baby found dead in fire pit

It sounds like the dad was either drunk and passed out or really high on drugs. But what about the mother. If that baby was alive when he went into that fire he would have screamed to high heaven. I bet it comes out that they killed the baby and were trying to dispose of the body. I've seen a baby barely touch something hot and scream bloody murder. Theres no way that baby was alive when he went into that fire.

There are two possible scenerio's that fit the story as presented:

1) The father was stoned/drunk/high/passed out; holding the baby who slipped out of his lap and into the fire. ( not likely ... baby would have screamed which the neighbors would have heard if not the mother if she was in the house nearby )

2) Baby was already dead - by "accident" or abuse - and placed into the fire to destroy evidence. Mother may or may not be involved ... but father is because the story makes NO SENSE ! You can not sleep next to a bonfire ... few six month old babies can crawl .... fewer are lacking vocal cords.

Disturbing ... to say the least.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Federal Way, Wash., police have arrested a 37-year-old father in the death of a 7-month-old baby boy found burned in the family's backyard fire pit.

Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said Tuesday the father was being booked into the King County jail for investigation of first-degree manslaughter. She did not immediately identify him.

No formal charges have been filed.

Schrock says the father originally told police he fell asleep late Saturday with the boy on a bench near the fire pit. He said that when he awoke the baby was gone; the boy's body was found in the fire pit covered with burns.

When police were called to the home early Sunday, Schrock says officers found the father holding the lifeless child.

The King County medical examiner's office says it won't release the cause of death until Wednesday.

Does it seem that crimes against children are happening more often, or am I just being made more aware of it? The innocent and the vulnerable are such easy prey for the wicked to prey upon.

With all the modern media and a heck of a lot more people in the world I believe it's both being more aware of what's going on and there are more victims
