Unfortunatly there are certain risks to have a debat forum. But I know you have a tougher skin...I mean you are the Queen of C & P. [/quote]
Once there was a Brunette and she was jumping from railroad tie to railroad tie saying the number "21..... 21..... 21..... 21..... 21...."
Well, she passes by a blonde and the blonde was wondering why she was doing this, but she decided to join her anyway. So they were both jumpin' along saying "21..... 21..... 21......"
All of a sudden the Brunette jumped off the track and a train passed by. Then she jumped back on the track starting to jump again saying "...22..... 22..... 22..... 22..... 22......"

Re: Where do you live...?
During the Terri Shiavo case the protestors where looking towards their lord for a miracle. They protested, demonstrated, prayed, and worshipped for almost two whole weeks. They were peaceful enough, kept to themselves for the most part. They were vigilant staying out all hours of the night waiting for someone (maybe even God him/herself) to save the 41 year old woman.
If you asked anyone of them I imagine they would have told you that they would win and Terri would live because it was God’s will.
Then it happened. What the world waited for on bated breathe, what kept us glued to the television all hours of the night (and of course we raced to the same set in the morning to hear the news).
Nothing happened.
No parting of the clouds, no choir of angels, Jesus himself was absent.
Life went on, for some. The cameras rolled away, the protesters went back to wherever they were from, and Terri went to Pennsylvania.
So……..what happened?
Why did God not save this woman? ( Because it was her time, he wanted her in heaven with him/herself; it was God’s will…)
But what about erring on the side of life; doesn’t God share the same sentiment as Bush? Did the protestors’ faith fall through? Did doubt find its way in? Just what happened?
I ask this because I have noticed in the past that God seems to work miracles ( or miracles are declared) when ever it suits the individual.
For example…
If the courts did not rule the way they did, if Terri woke up and was able to speak her mind, if Richard had a change of heart, or if any number of different outcomes happened; everyone out side and around the red states would have declared it a miracle.
But what do you call it when you don’t get your way? Do you still praise God because you didn’t get your wish? No one ever gets angry at God.
These people prayed, slept outdoors, said over 10,000 hail Mary’s and ‘Our Father’s’ and still it didn’t happen. What is the thought process behind that? Does anyone ever praise God when a bad thing happens?
Entertainers are the same way. When they get up on stage at an award ceremony they (more often than not) thank God for the gifts bestowed up on them to win what ever award. But what about those who don’t win? Did they not try as hard? Did they not pray enough? Maybe it was bad genuflection. Whatever the reason, whenever we lose God just doesn’t seem to be in the picture….

Re: Where do you live...?
I can't agree with you more. I think that's when they invoke "God works in mysterious ways." Same happens with athletes.
This is one of my biggest beefs when it comes to religion and why I think its dangerous. You tell a child to pray about something, and pray and pray and pray. When it doesn't happen, what happens to the child? They think they aren't good enough, didn't pray enough, weren't worthy enough for God's intervention. That brings on a guilt so deep, they may never get over it.
They can believe and believe all they want, but if "God" doesn't help the child, and it can be anything from a pony to wanting their dad to find a job, the child may feel "bad."
All religions are guilt and shame based. Its just the way it is.

Re: Where do you live...?
It does not matter who you are or what you do or what your sexual preference is, life sucks. There is always some one out there doing better than you. And it seems to me that people live their lives in a vain attempt to find something from God. It is like people want a prize from God for behaving themselves.
“Dear God I successfully lived out my entire life on your planet with the other five billions idiots. And I didn’t kill a single one. Now give me eternal life.”
People need something to believe in. For most it is what gets them through the day. For others God is the grand retribution for those who dare cross us.
It is quite possible that if there was a mathematical equation, a sign, a marker, or even lipstick on a napkin that proved there was no God society would fall apart. People would be running around doing as they please because there is no final retribution from God. But is that true? Do we keep our hands to ourselves because there is a God, who not unlike Santa Claus, is always watching over our shoulder? I know I don’t.
Do you want to know why I and others like me keep our hands to ourselves?
Respect.
It is that simple. I respect my fellow man/woman. Life is important. Did I come to this conclusion because “Jesus loves me this I know?” No. I came to this conclusion the same way everyone else does. I lived life, had fun saw it was good and I knew that it was wrong to interrupt anyone else’s life for my own selfish desires. It just makes sense. To some it sounds like “The Golden Rule”. Fine. No problem. If you need the golden rule to tell you right from wrong so be it. I just used my head. Maybe if we all start using our heads we would have to refer to book to see when it is safe to cross the road.

I'm a registered Florida Democrat. I didn't vote for Dubya, nor did I vote for Jeb...either time. But, I sure don't blame Bush for the evils of the world.
Just for the record....I wasn't crazy about Kerry either. I wish ONE of the parties would have had a stronger candidate run for office this past election. I would have voted for them, no matter which party they represented.
