Gangster has jail sentence extended for sperm smuggling

A New York gangster who smuggled his semen out of prison to impregnate his wife has had his jail sentence extended by 16 months.

Kevin Granato pleaded guilty in May to charges he used a cryogenic sperm kit to sneak his sperm out of Allenwood Federal Prison, in Pennsylvania.

His wife Regina also pleaded guilty at the same time to helping smuggle the sperm out to a New York fertility clinic. She received nine months probation for her role.

The couple's daughter is now three-years-old. Regina Granato, 40, said the smuggled sperm plot was "made out of pure love."

She added: "We love our daughter and it is her that gives us the only joy and pleasure we have," she wrote in a plea for leniency.

Granato, 43, whose current prison sentence for racketeering and murder runs until 2012, could have been sentenced to another 35 years.

He came under suspicion after he was seen in the visiting room showing off a toddler he called his child, even though he'd been in jail since 1988 and didn't have conjugal visits.

Drug dealer escapes as police officers brawl

Undercover police officers who arrested a drug dealer in Brazil lost their man after getting into a fight with colleagues.

The plains clothes officers were challenged by a uniformed patrol who refused to believe their story, reports Terra Noticias Populares.

The regular policemen were suspicious as the undercover team were not carrying any ID and were in possession of a bag containing four kilos of cocaine.

Shots were fired as a fight broke out between the three undercover officers and their four uniformed counterparts and the suspect escaped in the confusion.

The criminal whose name is not known had been arrested after an undercover operation in Copacabana by Anti-Drugs Department.

All the policemen were taken into custody and are being investigated. The drug dealer is still missing.

Elderly women boost sexy lingerie company

Elderly women are the secret of success for a sexy lingerie company in Chile.

Freya lingerie has become known as the 'hot grandmas' company' because of its policy of hiring only elderly women in its Santiago factory.

Maria Maldonado, who runs Freya with her two daughters, came up with the idea.

One of the daughters, Erika Marchant, told Las Ultimas Noticias online: "No one would give the elderly an opportunity, so we decided to do it.

"They are cleaner and more organised. Plus they make good style suggestions."

Disabled man can't find a willing prostitute

A disabled Dutch man who is allowed to claim a monthly sex allowance can't find a willing prostitute.

He should be reimbursed by his council for any money he spends on sex workers.

But he says he can't find a prostitute who will give him a receipt.

The man said the prostitutes are worried about declaring taxable income to the government according to De Telegraaf news paper.

The man fought a seven-year battle to win a 1997 court ruling and is allowed to claim a maximum of £100 a month.

He said visiting a prostitute means he has to use less medicine and that each visit gives him peace and rest.

Words Just Too Dirty to Say Out Loud

Get a bar of soap.

Wash your mouth out.

This is how bad our language has gotten: Only a handful of words are so foul-mouthed and truly awful that they can be considered taboo, according to the authors of the new edition of the Collins English Dictionary, which is published in Great Britain. In fact, there are only 16 such words left in the English language. You can guess one of them. It begins with an "f." London's Telegraph newspaper says the rest have been downgraded to mere "slang." In fact, these same editors predict that the asterisks writers use to soften taboo words in print will soon become an historical nicety. No ****!

To come to this radical conclusion that there are only 16 really nasty words left in our language, the editors of the Collins English Dictionary examined hundreds of millions of words that are used by the media. The reasoning is that if a word is commonly uttered by TV reporters or written by newspaper journalists, then it's acceptable in everyday conversation. Jeremy Butterfield, the dictionary's editor, told The Telegraph, "There is a certain amount of subjectivity about this. It is not automatically the case that repeated use 'de-taboos' words. It's to do with the majority view that such-and-such a word is not acceptable. There can be new taboo words, not ones to do with body parts, but ones addressing race or sexuality."

When we hear these bad words on television, it has an interesting effect, according to a British media watchdog group called Mediawatch-uk: It devastates our communication skills. "Far from there being a natural evolution in language, there has been a consistent effort to promote obscenity, swearing, and profanity against the wishes of most people," Mediawatch-uk said in a statement. "The effect of this on educational standards and communication skills has been devastating."

Driving? 10 Most Dangerous Foods to Eat

Look out for that....CHOCOLATE! Hagerty Classic Insurance of Traverse City, Mich., has issued a list of the top 10 most dangerous foods we can eat while driving. When we pay more attention to our food than the road, we're setting ourselves up for a potential car crash. In a recent analysis of 32,303 drivers nationwide, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration determined that eating is a greater distraction than using a hand-held cell phone. So from bad to worst, here are the top 10 most dangerous foods to eat while driving:

10. Chocolate

It gets all over your fingers! Then you touch something--the steering wheel, stick shift, your hair--and you leave a chocolate smudge. Your instinct is to look down and wipe it off. Excuse me, did you see that red light you just ran?

9. Soft Drinks

Slam on the brake and whammy! You spilled your drink all over your shirt. When this happens, are you concentrating more on your driving or your wet clothing? We thought so.

8. Jelly and Cream-Filled Donuts

Oh yummy! They just ooze jelly and custard, and now look! It's all over your lap. You shouldn't have looked...you just ran a stop sign.

7. Fried Chicken

If it's finger-lickin' good, then it's also greasy. So is the steering wheel. And that stuff is hard to get off--especially while you're driving. Oops. Almost didn't make that turn, did you?

6. Any Barbecued Food

Save the barbecue sauce for your next picnic in the park. Here's something to remember: "If it can drip, don't eat it while you drive."

5. Juicy Hamburgers

These can be drippy AND greasy. Consider that a $5 hamburger deluxe could turn into $500 worth of repairs if dripping condiments, special sauces, or greasy meat juices distract you while you're driving.

4. Chili

And we don't mean just a bowl of chili. We mean anything containing chili--a chili dog, sloppy Joes, or a Coney dog. Steering chili-covered foods to your mouth while steering a car around a corner requires more dexterity than we humans possess.

3. Tacos

It's hard enough to eat a taco at a table. One good bump in the road and that taco is scattered across the backseat. And what did you just do? Turned around to look at it!

2. Hot Soups

Eating hot soup while trying to manipulate a gearshift is not sensible. Haggerty calls it the equivalent of a circus juggling act--a sure recipe for disaster.

And the WORST food you can consume while driving is...

1. Coffee

It's hot. It spills. It makes a mess -- and burns! -- when it spills.

They walked away from these crashes? You won't believe no one was killed when you see these real crash photos.

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - One of Thailand's main prisons will begin operating an in-house cable television station next month that will feature news and entertainment shows hosted by inmates, a prison official said Sunday.

The station at Bang Kwang Central Prison, just north of Bangkok, is the latest in a series of measures to try and ease tension among inmates at Thailand's overcrowded prisons.

Bang Kwang Prison Television, or BKPTV, will begin broadcasting Sept. 5 and feature a weekly one-hour live show with the prison warden talking with inmates about their complaints, said Somboon Madtramud, head of the prison's administration department.

BKPTV will air news, movies and music, plus sports and entertainment shows, said Somboon, who added that scenes deemed immoral or provocative will be screened out.

Convicts will be used to introduce programs, and eventually may produce them.

"We will select good-looking prisoners with good personalities to present our shows," Somboon said.

Other programming for the station, which will air only inside the prison, will come from outside providers, including free-to-air television channels and a private cable television operator.

Somboon said the television project was aimed at easing stress and reducing boredom among the prison's 6,000 inmates, most of whom are serving jail terms of 30 years to life.

Thai prison conditions have worsened in recent years with a huge influx of drug convicts. The country's 132 prisons, designed to hold 100,000 inmates, are currently jammed with more than 250,000 prisoners.

Other officially sanctioned activities launched to boost inmates' morale have included a laughter competition, meditation, choir singing, cooking lessons and soccer tournaments.
