Two Maryland Police Officers Shot For Wearing Their Uniforms

With the Black Lives Matter movement emboldened by Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance, it seems that her efforts have most recently succeeded. Unfortunately, this devastating turn of events came about after two police officers were targeted and shot dead because of what they were wearing.

The incident took place in Abingdon, Maryland, after police officers were dispatched to a local Panera Bread for a disturbance of some kind brought on by 68-year-old David Evans. However, things would take a turn as soon as police arrived.

According to eyewitnesses, the first responding officer arrived and approached Evans only to ask, “How was your day?”

Unfortunately, it seems that the man had bad intentions. He quickly brandished a gun and shot the police officer in the head.

“He just took out his gun and shot him in the head right after the officer just asked him, ‘How was your day?’” Sophia Faulkner said. Another witness, Lynn Faulkner, said, “Sat down and we’re eating and his head was shot right in the temple. They tried to resuscitate him. One of the guests in the restaurant actually chased him down.”

Witnesses helped police track the man down, but the situation was far from over. After catching up with Evans, the crazed man shot and killed another deputy before being shot and killed by two other officers in close pursuit.

Since that time, police have come forward to state why the man acted in violence. “He certainly targeted them. The suspect certainly took that action because he was wearing a police uniform,” said Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler, Harford County.

This is what you get with the Black Live Matter movement, and this is most certainly something that falls in line with the sentiments of the Black Panthers – whom Beyoncé decided to pay homage to during her racist Super Bowl Halftime Show. One can only wonder if this man felt so emboldened after watching her performance.

People like Beyoncé don’t want equality. This woman has never known financial hardships and has never been oppressed in her life.

What she really wants is supremacy, and her actions only encourage things such as what happened in Maryland to take place. I highly doubt she’ll take any responsibility for the two dead officers, but she should. By supporting and promoting such an anti-cop agenda, it makes her directly responsible and just as guilty as the man who pulled the trigger.

Police officer dies after gun battle in suburban Atlanta
    22 hours ago

RIVERDALE, Ga. (AP) — A police officer in suburban Atlanta was shot twice and killed Thursday by a suspect who was also wounded during a law enforcement operation, authorities said.

Maj. Greg Barney, a 25-year veteran of the Riverdale police department, died following surgery, said Riverdale police chief Todd Spivey.

"We have lost a valuable member of our family," Spivey said.

Riverdale City Manager E. Scott Wood said Barney was struck in the mid-torso and arm.

The shooting happened as Riverdale police officers were assisting Clayton County police with an operation at an apartment complex in Riverdale late Thursday morning, Assistant Chief Michael Reynolds said. Reynolds did not release any details about the police operation or say what led to the shooting. He also did not release the suspect's name or condition.

Riverdale is a city of about 15,000 people just south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting, said GBI spokesman Scott Dutton. The body of the officer has been taken to the GBI headquarters, where an autopsy will be performed Friday morning, he said.

In 2004, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Barney became the first African-American to serve as Riverdale's police chief when he accepted the interim position after the retirement of Mike Edwards. Barney's stint as chief lasted five months.

Pop star Beyonce has taken copious amounts of heat for her race-baiting performance during the halftime show of Super Bowl 50, and rightfully so.

She claimed that she had no clue about Black Lives Matter protesters smuggling signs to dancers, even though one of the songs she sang was pretty much a tribute to black power. http://www.youngcons.com/beyonce-cla...ns-to-dancers/

Now, New Jersey state troopers are letting Beyonce and the NFL know what Black Panthers have done to police officers over the years.

    From IJR: http://www.ijreview.com/2016/02/5363...heir-officers/

Police groups around the country have taken serious issue with Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime show, in which she invoked both the #BlackLivesMatter and Black Panthers movements.

But a group of New Jersey State Troopers have a very historical reason for their “shock and disgust” over the performance.

One of their own fell at the hands of the Black Panthers—and they haven’t forgotten.

In 1979, Trooper Werner Foerster was shot and killed with his own service weapon after backing up a fellow officer.

The NFL should feel pretty stupid right about now.

The league is all about protecting women and allowing gay players a safe environment, but why don’t they take umbrage with a halftime show that is aimed at lifting one race up and bringing another down?

Accordingly, the NFL has yet to respond to the letter.

The bottom line is a nation can’t heal from racial strife if everyone keeps bringing up past wrongs all of the time and blaming some who exist today for the stupidity of their ancestors ages ago.

The Bible says not to keep a record of wrongs, but to love one another. If two people who are married constantly bring up past offenses, how will they ever heal? It’s only after they forgive one another and seek to work together, past their issues, that things get better.

We need to apply that principle to race relations. Start rebuilding with the foundation being our equality as image bearers before God and set aside silliness like skin color.

That’s how we move on and become a post-racial society.

The CEO of Panera Bread stated that no guns would be allowed in his restaurants days before the incident that occurred in which two deputies were targeted for wearing uniforms.

    In other words: criminals welcome!

    From IJR: http://www.ijreview.com/2016/02/5360...m_content=guns

Prior to the deadly shooting, Panera CEO Shaich had made the announcement that guns weren’t allowed in any of the country’s 1,800 Panera Bread locations:

According to CNBC, Shaich said that Panera just wanted to “recognize everyone’s rights.”

    http://www.youngcons.com/panera-brea...ant-locations/

The company’s policy, unfortunately, didn’t stop David Brian Evans from wielding his gun on the premises, or from tragically ending the lives of two police officers.

As the Washington Post reported, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey, a 30-year veteran, and Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon, who had been with the force for 16 years.[/quote]

    RIP, deputies.

Pretty sad to know that Panera doesn’t understand that guns make us safer, and they better hope and pray that another tragedy doesn’t take place in one of their restaurants.

Gun-free zones put everyone at risk, but Panera has bought in to the liberal propaganda.

According to CNBC, Shaich said that Panera just wanted to “recognize everyone’s rights.”
Really? What about the rights of CCW certified citizens to carry their concealed weapons?

    ..

HOPEFULLY, more states will follow Tennessee's lead, and let victims hold establishments responsible for gun violence if they ban properly licensed citizens from carrying to protect themselves. Restaurants have a right to ban guns, but they should be held accountable for setting up "gun free" shooting galleries for criminals.

    ..

He's been talking to Mayor Bloomberg (gun control nut to the 10th power)from NYCity and Moms Demand Action. That explains it all.
“Panera deserves our thanks and our congratulations for taking this important step, and I applaud the company for proactively consulting Moms Demand Action as it developed and implemented its policy,” Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts

Baton Rouge police say 2 officers, 1 suspect shot
By MICHAEL KUNZELMAN, Associated Press 7 hrs ago

BATON ROUGE, La. — A Baton Rouge neighborhood was awakened before dawn Saturday by a hail of gunfire, with police saying two officers were wounded as they traded shots with a man they had been chasing.

Neighbors say dozens of shots were fired in an exchange that also wounded the suspect.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. said the officers' injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening. The suspect was undergoing surgery at the same area hospital.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore said a bullet grazed the head of one officer; the other officer was hit in the stomach but protected by his bulletproof vest. "These guys are fortunate to be alive," Moore said. "God didn't want to take them today. It was not their day."

Gina Chambers said the suspect is 22-year-old Calvin Smith, who has been living at her Baton Rouge home since December. Chambers said Smith's mother is her godmother.

Chambers said Smith has been grappling with "mental issues" and had attempted suicide before he moved from Shreveport to his native Baton Rouge. Chambers said Smith received mental health treatment last year at a hospital in Shreveport, where he had been living with a sister.

Chambers said Smith has been taking medication for his condition, and she didn't see any obvious signs of distress before the shooting. "He seemed like he was fine," she said.

Police didn't immediately confirm the name of the man suspected of firing at the officers.

The officers responded to a call at about 5:30 a.m. to a report of someone damaging property, which Moore described as a domestic disturbance reported by a woman who knew the suspect.

When police arrived, the suspect took off in a vehicle. The officers chased him until he bailed out of his car, about 2 miles away.

Baton Rouge. Sgt. Don Coppola said the suspect exited his vehicle with a rifle and fired at the officers, hitting both. The officers returned fire and struck the suspect. Moore described the rifle as a semiautomatic, large caliber weapon.

The chase ended at Chambers' home. She said she didn't know where Smith had obtained the rifle police say he used.

Moore said investigators will study video footage taken by the dashboard cameras in two police cruisers for evidence into the shooting. He said at least one of the officers was wearing a body camera, but it wasn't immediately known whether he was able to activate it before the confrontation took place.

Moore said one officer was white and the other is black. Smith is black.

Police remained at the end of the chase for nearly five hours, eventually towing away two police cruisers, including one with at least three bullet holes. Neighbors gathered to watch the activity in the neighborhood about four miles east of downtown Baton Rouge, some draped in blankets against the morning chill.

Terrell Starwood, who was staying a friend's house, estimated he heard more than 40 shots. Dozens of evidence markers were on the ground at the house where the chase ended, indicating possible bullet casings. "You could tell they were from different guns," Starwood said. "I didn't hear nothing but sirens, gunshots and tires squealing."

Suspect shot first in battle injuring suspect, officers

    By MICHAEL KUNZELMAN
    Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A local prosecutor says he believes police were justified in firing back at a man they had chased through a Baton Rouge neighborhood before dawn Saturday.

Neighbors awakened by the gunbattle say dozens of shots were fired in a barrage that left two officers and the suspect wounded.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. said the officers' injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Calvin Smith by authorities, was critically injured.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillard Moore said a bullet grazed the head of one officer; the other officer was hit in the stomach but protected by his bulletproof vest. Neither officer was identified. "These guys are fortunate to be alive," Moore said. "God didn't want to take them today. It was not their day."

Gina Chambers said Smith, the son of her godmother, was on a ventilator Saturday afternoon and might not survive. She said Smith had been living at her Baton Rouge home since December.

Chambers said Smith has been grappling with "mental issues" and had attempted suicide before he moved from Shreveport to his native Baton Rouge. Chambers said Smith received mental health treatment last year after the suicide attempt at a hospital in Shreveport, where he had been living with a sister.

Chambers said Smith has been taking medication for his condition, and she didn't see any obvious signs of distress before the shooting. "He seemed like he was fine," she said.

Moore said Smith is on probation for a 2014 conviction in East Baton Rouge Parish for indecent behavior with a juvenile. The Advocate reported Smith was accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl whose mother had reported her missing.

Saturday, officers responded around 5:30 a.m. to a report of someone damaging property, which Moore described as a domestic disturbance reported by a woman who knew Smith.

When police arrived, Smith took off in a vehicle. The officers chased him until he bailed out of his car at Chambers' home, less than 2 miles away. Baton Rouge. Sgt. Don Coppola said Smith jumped out of a Dodge Avenger with a rifle and fired at the officers, hitting both. The officers returned fire and struck Smith. Moore described the rifle as a semi-automatic, large caliber weapon.

Moore said Saturday afternoon that he had personally viewed dashboard camera videos of the six-minute chase from the officers' two cars and believes their actions were" totally justified."

"My first reaction was 'How were these officers not killed?'" Moore said. "Clearly the suspect initiated the firing."

Moore said an investigation will "look at everything" to make an official determination, but described what Smith did as an "ambush." Chambers said she didn't know where Smith had obtained the rifle police say he used.

Moore said at least one of the officers was wearing a body camera, but it wasn't immediately known whether he was able to activate it before the confrontation. Moore said one officer was white and the other is black. Smith is black.

Coppola said the officers would be placed on paid leave, as is standard in shootings in Baton Rouge.

Police shootings have drawn wide notice in recent months. For example, deputies in suburban Baltimore shot it out Wednesday with an armed man at a sandwich shop. This case differs from those that have provoked outcries nationwide because Smith was armed.

Police remained at the scene of the shooting for nearly five hours, eventually towing away two police cruisers, including one with at least three bullet holes.

That's where I'm from. It was in our local paper and on local news. I'm surprised (glad!) that it's getting as much exposure as it is!
Too bad Obama won't see it or respond to it.

We are mourning with the Euless Police Department in Texas after the loss of a Brother. Officer David Hofer, 29, was shot and killed after responding to a complaint of 'shots fired' in a city park. Officer Hofer and his partner were immediately engaged in gunfire by the suspect when he was hit. His partner shot and killed the suspect. Officer Hofer was transported to an area hospital where he regretfully succumbed to his injuries.

Officer Hofer has served for the past two years with the Euless Police Department. He served previously with @NYPD 9th Precinct for 5 years. He is survived by his fiance.
