Even more issues for Marilyn Mosby as details emerge of top investigator’s checkered past

And now we’re learning a little bit more about the background of one of the top people Mosby used to investigate the officers. In summary, Mosby’s investigator is a former high-ranking Baltimore cop who was “stripped of his command” and later Tasered during a SWAT raid on his home.

Another issue could arise from the team Mosby relied on to lead her case: one of her top investigators, Avon Mackel, is a former high-ranking Baltimore police officer who was stripped of his command post in 2009 for failing to follow through on a robbery investigation that two of his officers mishandled and did not report. A Baltimore Sun report said police in the district were accused of classifying serious crimes as lesser in order to log lower crime rates.

In October 2009, four months after his demotion, Baltimore County police sent a SWAT team to Mackel’s home, responding a drunken incident in which he was seen holding a gun, according to a police report of the incident obtained by CNN.

Officers said an intoxicated Mackel refused to cooperate and was visibly upset, according to the report provided in response to a public records request. An officer then “observed the barrel of Mackel’s handgun hanging over the edge of the molding at the top of the steps and saw Mackel pull the gun out of sight,” the report said.

Police used a Taser on Mackel while he was on the phone with his father “crying and yelling,” before he barricaded himself in his bedroom. The report doesn’t say how the incident ended, but police said there was no arrest. A spokesman for the Baltimore County Police Department said “the [SWAT] tactical unit did assist with this incident, which ended peacefully.”

Mackel didn’t respond to calls and emails seeking comment. No one answered at his home.

I don't know if she's facing charges @this moment, but in her rush, she shot herself in the foot. Switchblade legal, then not legal, wrong people arrested (can you imagine the poor school cafeteria manager & the plumber?)... she's made a laughing stock of herself. And I'm glad... she tried to grab the spotlight, & she did just that, for all the wrong reasons.

Everything about this case stinks. This is nothing but a witch hunt designed to appease the masses. This case is going to fall apart, then the thugs will once again use it as an excuse to go out and loot, pillage, and destroy. I am sick and tired of this nonsense - all this racial animosity that has developed since we have elected our nation's first black president has gotten totally out of control.

There is a story in politics, commonly attributed to Lyndon B. Johnson, about how LBJ wanted to circulate a rumor attacking his opponent in a Texas election. Johnson, it's said, wanted to spread the story that his opponent liked to have sex with barnyard animals. One of LBJ's aides said, "We can't prove he's a pig f----r."
"I know that," replied Johnson. "I just want to hear him deny it."

They don't care about proving the police officer's guilt and they don't care about facts or evidence, they just want reinforce the lie that blacks can't receive justice in white America and to hide Baltimore's failures under black leadership. The prosecution of these officers is meant to imply guilt where there is none. just like LBJ's pig f----r ploy. Blacks routinely accuse whites of racism to win arguments and privileges, and it has worked successfully for over 50 years. Even if the police officers are acquitted, it still works to their advantage because they will simply claim its another example of black injustice. Its a political win-win scenario for them and they can count on the left-wing media to excuse black failures and ignore the growing black-on-white violence that results from their political games.

Cram a culture of fatherlessness, single-motherhood, and street crime/incarceration as a badge of honor into a confined space and this is what happens. Also, ensure said culture refuses to become even mildly educated above a fast-food employee level, and you have any major urbanite area in America.

Change their way of thinking, change their hearts, and you will change the culture. Unfortunately, the Democrats still have chains around their necks and shackles upon their feet, giving them free gifts as their reward for blind obedience. Shameful, indeed.

Two weeks after protests in Baltimore brought national attention to the death of Freddie Gray while he was in police custody, Prince came to town for a "Rally 4 Peace" – a surprise concert that turned into an epic two-and-a-half-hour jam session with a dream set list and appearances by Doug E. Fresh, Estelle, Miguel and State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

"I am your servant tonight, Baltimore," Prince told the Royal Farms Arena crowd, much of which was wearing gray as instructed by the concert poster. "We are your house band."

After blasting off with favorites "Let's Go Crazy," "Take Me With U" and "Raspberry Beret," Prince launched into "Baltimore," a song about the city's struggles that he had released just over 24 hours earlier. Freddie Gray Defense Lawyer Feels Murder Charges Against Officers Will Be Dropped

Since we now know that Freddie Gray was originally taken into custody for possession of an illegal switchblade, and that Baltimore state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby rushed to judgement in charging six officers with murder, many respected authorities believe the charges would be dropped.

Now, even Gray family defense lawyers believe the same.

Already, defense attorneys are filing motions seeking to exploit differences between the separate state attorney and police investigations.

In addition, homicide investigators who were briefed by the medical examiner’s office believed the examiner’s autopsy report would likely find the cause of death to fall short of homicide, according to one official familiar with the case.

Mosby’s lead investigator is “former Baltimore Police Officer Avon Mackel. Mackel lost his rank with the Baltimore Police for his actions while investigating a robbery.”

In a different incident, “the SWAT team came to his house while he was intoxicated, uncooperative and holding a gun.”

Mackel isn’t exactly the type of person you want in charge.

26 Injured, 9 Killed In Baltimore Shootings During Memorial Day Weekend

Baltimore has faced its deadliest month since 1999 after 32 shootings left nine people dead this Memorial Day weekend.

Among the wounded was a 17-year-old boy shot in the arm and a 9-year-old boy shot in the leg, according to CBS Baltimore.

The violence began during the weekend and spilled into Monday, with two more people killed shortly after Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (D) met with the Baltimore Police Department to discuss the violence, The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Sun reports there have been 35 homicides so far this month and 108 this year. By comparison, New York City -- with a significantly higher population -- has seen 115 murders this year.



No arrests have been made in the shootings, which left 26 injured. Police have not released the names of victims. One man, shot in the head, is listed in critical condition. Nine others are dead, with one man found covered in gunshot wounds on his chest and leg early Monday morning.

Yvonne Gunn, 67, told the Sun she heard shots during an incident this weekend in her Poppleton neighborhood of West Baltimore and was scared to look outside.

"I started praying," Gunn said. "I didn't move ... The drugs have escalated in this block in the last six months. With this new drug element in the block -- oh, Lord."

“It’s scary because I’ve got kids," someone in the Govans neighborhood, where a triple shooting occurred, told CBS Baltimore. "I don’t want anything to happen to my kids, especially around here. It’s a peaceful neighborhood."

Howard Libit, a spokesman for the mayor, said Rawlings-Blake is frustrated with the ongoing violence. In a statement, Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said his department is "moving aggressively" and hopes to "modernize and better equip ourselves for the future."

Not long after the death of Freddie Gray, race hustlers stirred up trouble in the streets of Baltimore that led to all kinds of rioting, looting, and deranged acts of violence.

Folks bought into the bull being spewed out by the loony left and turned on police, demanding they get the you-know-what out of their neighborhoods or else!

Well, these intellectually challenged individuals got what they wanted, but now, after a record number of murders have occurred, they’re starting to miss seeing the cops on the block.

#Regrets.



Gee, who would’ve thought getting rid of the police would lead to a bunch of psycho criminals going on a murderous rampage in the heart of the city?

The very reason law enforcement exists is to help get dangerous bad guys like the ones running amok in Baltimore off the streets and protect citizens from the evil plots these knuckleheads cook up in their Walter White mobile meth vans.

Now that the cops are gone and are making fewer arrests — they’re afraid they’ll get tossed in prison themselves if they put a bad guy in cuffs — criminals have been given a golden ticket into the thick of Willy Wonka’s candy factory, as they’re now allowed to do what they want with little worry of the consequences.

The lesson the citizens of Baltimore should take away from this nightmare is that it’s wrong to lump all cops together as racist, power hungry tyrants, just like it’s wrong to assume all black people are thieves, thugs, and murderers.

Sure, there are bad cops. Just like they’re bad doctors, lawyers, construction workers, and high school gym teachers. But the rotten apples don’t have to spoil the whole bunch.

Perhaps residents need to issue an apology to local police and once again ask for their help to stop the murder spree going on in their city.

Black Leader Calls For Nation Of Islam, Black Panthers To Use “Deadly Force” Against WHITES

On last week’s episode of the official broadcast of the New Black Panthers Party’s “Black Power Radio,” former national chairman of the New Black Panther Party and current national president of Black Lawyers for Justice Malik Zulu Shabazz, said it is time for black groups like The Nation of Islam, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club and the New Black Panthers to organize, arm themselves and patrol to defend black communities against police brutality.

Shabazz opened by making it clear he was still a member of the New Black Panther Party and said, “I want to let you all know I am still with the Black Panther party,” and added, “We are in a united front to free our people.”

“We will defend ourselves as Malcolm said, ‘by any means necessary,’ and that the only option can not be non-violence,” he continued. “We have the right to defend ourselves with deadly force.”

Shabazz also called on radical black groups to join forces and defend their community.

“There must be a group of brothers and sisters,” he said. “There must be a unit. There must be an army that will defend us with the force of arms.”

Shabazz also suggested the creation of a “black national rifle association.”

“We should strive to build a united front, … and start patrolling these streets,” he said. “To hell with these conservatives. They want all these God damn guns. They want all the guns and they don’t want us to have none. They are only jumping up and down cause it ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun.”

In commenting on the recent string of assassinations of police officers, he said, “Police brutality is going to come to an end one way or another, or it’s just going to be a lot of dead bodies in the streets.”

The dollar costs of the recent Baltimore riots are starting to be added up, and they’re staggering. Not only are these figures climbing into the tens-of-millions of dollars, but Baltimore officials are looking for outside help to pay the bills — that means they want U.S. taxpayers to shell out to bail out the budget of a city criticized by many for doing little to stop the mayhem.

According to an article in The Baltimore Sun, http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...526-story.html Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake — who infamously said she initially wanted to give the Freddie Gray rioters “who wished to destroy, space to do that” — will now lead the charge to seek “reimbursement” from the federal government for Baltimore’s expenses in dealing with the violent protestors, looters, arsonists and trouble-makers who terrorized parts of the city.

Baltimore's death spiral

Baltimore's mayor and state's attorney have taken the first steps to bankrupting this city. In addition to affirming obvious orders to allow space to destroy, the actions of the police make it clear that space was also provided for rioters to take control.

The police literally did nothing as gangs put innocent citizens in harm's way. Furthermore, the state's attorney's charges have essentially taken all discretion from the police, notwithstanding first hand evidence of the behavior they deal with every day. Instead of striving to achieve some balance, they now have no choice but to police with extreme defensiveness which will have further economic consequences as crime soars and fewer people, conventions and other investment comes into the city.

The solution, as always, will be to raise taxes and ask the state and federal governments for more money which no matter how much is given will never be enough as long as the void in leadership at all levels continues. The fact that Baltimore has not only survived but thrived is due the foundation laid long ago by Mayor William Donald Schaefer. But like Detroit, there is a breaking point. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's legacy will be that nobody died, at least not as a direct result of the riots. On the other hand, Baltimore City itself has already begun a slow death, and if history is any indication of future performance, nothing will done until it is too late which is very much like waiting until the city is burning to call in reinforcements.

Everything should be on the table, including revoking Baltimore City's charter and reapportioning it to the surrounding counties. After all, they are already picking up a big part of the tab, so why shouldn't they have control as well?
