It appears they want to silence Chris Dorner, not capture him.

Do you think we have death squads in the US?

Because with the women that were shot without warning and the guy who was shot at without warning... That seems like something out of a bad movie, not something that should happen here in the US. Now they are going to use a drone against an American, on American soil? We have a system that gives all Americans rights.... or do we? Ladies and Gentlemen, the war against the people has begun. -Joe Otto

Report: Fugitive alleged killer is target of police drone
    20 hrs ago

Christopher Dorner, the homicidal former cop currently on the run from the LAPD, is a target of airborne drones on U.S. soil, an anonymous source told London's Express. A senior police source told the Express, “The thermal imaging cameras the drones use may be our only hope of finding him. On the ground, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.” The fugitive has already killed three people, according to police, and has a $1 million bounty on his head. Dorner, who has military training, is believed to be hiding in the wilderness of California's San Bernardino Mountains, where locating him without air support may be all but impossible.

Editor's note: This story originally included a report that customs officials had confirmed the use of drones. There has been no official confirmation (or denial) of drones in the hunt for Dorner. The Atlantic refutes The Express' claim that Dorner is the first person on U.S. soil to be hunted by a drone. In 2011, a North Dakota county sheriff used a drone to stalk three alleged cow thieves.

Drones on US soil against a US citizen are an abomination and reek of the demise of the USA as we know it. Maybe the LA cops only want ONE version of his story told. The DOJ needs to stop this, NOW, as it is a CLEAR violation of the 5th Amendment.

    ..

So when did we get absolute proof that he's guilty? Wow, what happened to innocent until proven guilty beyond a shadow of doubt. Anyone can hack a FB page and write what ever they want, heck some people can hack bank account info, it happened to me. All they truly have going for him is his supposed rant on FB, from what I have read, and some comments about LAPD being corrupt, when did that become news? That police dept has been at the top of the USA worst list since the 80's. Problem here is that this man named names and powers that be don't like that. We don't even know if he shot that couple because no one saw anything, and anyone can hide and shoot unsuspecting people.. I mean wow. I am not saying he's innocent but we don't know exactly what's going on either.

Really just go to a search engine and type in LAPD falsifies evidence and see how many times they have set up patsies and made illegal arrests against innocent civilians, it's not pretty.

    ..

This is the fifth amendment of the constitution of the united states. Maybe the attorney general should take a look at this. If they can do it to him, they can do it to you.

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
    ..

are they using the drone to find him, or execute him? I don't have a problem with using a drone to locate him. Killing him by drone is wrong, period

    ..

    TAKING BETS HERE!

Click thumbs up if you think this guy will be killed, even if he surrenders.

Click thumbs down if you think he is going to be captured alive, or allowed to surrender.

If I could, I'd bet every penny of mine that this guy will be dead no matter what.

    ..

Citizens have a right to a trial by jury, which means a right to surrender, which means a fking air strike on an American citizen is...wrong! You can't surrender to a drone. Unless I'm missing something here? They may only be using it to locate him, but aren't drone strikes coming in the future as far as we know? So the time when we were afforded the chance to argue our innocence or make a defense are coming to an end. Because if all the needed "evidence" can be presented to authorities that someone has committed a crime worthy of death, and that EXECUTION can be carried out without the person's input or trial, etc. then freedom is a thing of the past. We become subjects to a dictatorship. How clever to get us used to the idea when they used it on terrorists in other countries, and now all they have to do is use the same word "terrorist" for those causing trouble on US soil. SHEEP!!!!! If that's where this is headed, we all know who to blame.

    ..

As much as I'd like to see this guy stopped,
how is this NOT Vigilante justice?
They say we're paranoid because we're afraid of Obama taking our 2nd Amendment rights!

Guess what folks, that's just the start of our worries!
He thinks he has the right to take our lives too, if he wants!

The Source refers to Dorner as "the first human Target" on US soil.
Since Border Patrol/Customs has been using Drones to Locate Illegals crossing the border for a couple years, this would seem to indicate they plan to shoot at him.

But we can't Water Board a known Terrorist....who proudly proclaim they will kill any American that they can

    ...

Dorner is being villified and discredited as a terrorist, so what does that make the LAPD pigs who shot up the 2 unarmed ladies. Dorner will not be allowed to peacefully surrender, they want him dead so that LAPD corruption does not come to light. I do not condone the killing of innocent people but hes not a a person looking to kill ordinary civilians, hes after LAPD cops. This guy is a hero to all those ppls whos rights have been trampled by law enforcement. Those cowardly cops on his target list are now in hiding, come out and play

    ...

No matter who he may have killed, the police are engaged in an illegal man hunt. They are TELLING THE WORLD that they do not care about the right of due process, and the nation has gone along with it! I'm disgusted.

If it's okay to disregard a man's rights in this case, then it MUST be okay in any case. Or it's not okay, ever. It can't be "well, there are circumstances".. there are always horrible people who we'd love to deny their rights. But.. if it's not okay to deny someone their rights based on their skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, it is NOT okay to deny someone their rights based on emotional knee-jerk reaction, either. Wake up folks, you're allowing, and in some cases, cheering for your "law enforcement" to break the very laws they took an oath to uphold.

Don't be surprised when "law enforcement" becomes simply "Enforcement".

    ..

Something else is f*ckin' wrong here!! VERY WRONG!! They want him a little too badly! There is more going on here. Much more!! Even if they are trying to make an example of him for SPEAKING UP, this is too damn much!!

Christopher Dorner in gun battle with authorities, source says
    February 12, 2013 | 1:12 pm

Christopher Dorner was engaged in a shootout with federal authorities in the Big Bear area Tuesday, a law enforcement source told The Times.

The shooting occurred after Dorner burglarized a home, tied up a couple and stole their car, the source said.

It was not immediately clear whether Dorner was in custody.

    PHOTOS: Manhunt for ex-LAPD officer

A second source said there was an active crime scene but did not have details.

Law enforcement officials were swarming the area.

U.S. Marshal's officials said in court papers that Dorner could have fled to Mexico. In Tijuana, Dorner was listed as one of the most wanted fugitives. But LAPD Lt. Andy Neiman said that was only one of many locations authorities were considering.

    DOCUMENT: Read the manifesto

Neiman said detectives were examining video that might show Dorner purchasing scuba gear at a Sport Chalet store in Torrance days before his alleged killing spree began.

Law enforcement sources told The Times that officials have confirmed the man in the video is Dorner. He spent $5 to $10 to fill up a scuba tank, the sources said. Investigators have also reviewed store receipts.

Officers have crisscrossed California pursuing tips about Dorner's possible whereabouts and serving warrants at homes in Las Vegas and Point Loma.

FULL COVERAGE: Sweeping manhunt for ex-cop

Meanwhile, an associate of Dorner was being tracked by investigators, according to court records that suggest Dorner may have received help as he eluded a massive law enforcement dragnet.

Dorner, 33, a former LAPD officer, has evaded authorities since Wednesday night when he was named as the suspect in the slaying of an Irvine couple, a crime that preceded a wave of violence.

A criminal complaint filed in federal court raises the possibility that Dorner may have been assisted by an associate identified as "J.Y."
    DOCUMENT: Read the manifesto

Statewide alerts have been issued in California and Nevada, and border authorities have been alerted. The Transportation Security Administration also issued an alert urging pilots and other aircraft operators to keep an eye out for Dorner.

The search turned to Big Bear last week after Dorner's burning truck was found on a local forest road.

At the search's height, more than 200 officers scoured the mountain, conducting cabin-by-cabin checks. It has since been scaled back: About 30 officers were involved Monday and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said about the same number would be out again Tuesday.

INTERACTIVE MAP: Searching for suspected shooter

"The search for Christopher Dorner will continue until he has been apprehended or it has been determined that he is no longer on the mountain," San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said Tuesday.

Authorities also asked residents in the Big Bear area with security cameras at their homes to review any video recorded after midnight Feb. 7 to see if images of Dorner had been captured.

A criminal complaint filed in federal court raised the possibility that Dorner may have been assisted by "a known associate" -- identified only as "J.Y." -- with a family member who owns a property in the San Bernardino Mountains. The exact relationship between Dorner and J.Y. was not detailed in the document.

DOCUMENT: Feds say Dorner may have fled to Mexico

The court records also provide new details as to why federal authorities developed "probable cause" that Dorner may have been trying to flee to Mexico as the law enforcement authorities were widening their dragnet.

Dorner allegedly attempted to steal a boat in San Diego and, after subduing the captain, said he was taking the vessel to Mexico, according to an affidavit filed with the criminal complaint in federal court in Los Angeles. Dorner is accused of telling the captain that he could recover his boat in Mexico.

"The attempt failed when the bow line of the boat became caught in the boat's propeller, and the suspect fled," according to the affidavit by U.S. Marshals Service Inspector Craig McClusky.

After authorities interviewed the boat captain early Thursday, they found Dorner's wallet and identification cards "at the San Ysidro Point of Entry" near the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the court records. That same day, a guard at the Point Loma Naval Base told authorities he had spotted a man matching Dorner's description trying sneak onto the base, the records said.

Federal authorities told The Times on Monday night that the court papers reflected their thinking at the time, but they stressed that Dorner could be anywhere.

A Tijuana hotel was searched Monday after Mexican authorities received vague information Dorner might be in the area, sources familiar with the investigation said. Dorner was not found, they said.

Dorner allegedly threatened "unconventional and asymmetrical warfare" against police in a lengthy manifesto that authorities say he posted on Facebook. The posting named dozens of potential targets, including police officers, that Dorner allegedly threatened to attack, according to authorities.

The records state that the manifesto was discovered by authorities Wednesday, three days after the slaying of the two Irvine victims: Monica Quan, a Cal State Fullerton assistant basketball coach, and her fiance, Keith Lawrence, a USC public safety officer.

Quan was the daughter of a retired LAPD captain whom Dorner allegedly blamed in part for his firing from the force in 2009.

The federal documents also provide new details on Dorner's alleged attack against officers early Thursday in Riverside County.

The first shooting was in Corona after an eyewitness reported a person matching Dorner's description at a gas station, telling an LAPD officer "who was detailed to the area to protect one of the officials whom Dorner had threatened," according to the court records.

"When the officer drove by the gas station, the suspect exited his vehicle and fired an assault rifle at the officer, hitting the officer's vehicle," according to the court records.

The LAPD later said the officer received a grazing wound.

About 30 minutes later, Dorner opened fire on Riverside police officers "who were in the area searching for Dorner," the documents said. On that detail, the account conflicts with a statement provided to the media by Riverside police officials, who said the officers were stopped at a red light and were not looking for Dorner.

Riverside Officer Michael Crain, 34, a married father of two who served two tours in Kuwait as a rifleman in the Marines, was killed in the attack. His partner remains hospitalized, Police Chief Sergio Diaz said, and it was unclear if he would be able to return to active duty.

Dorner was charged Monday with one count of murder, with special-circumstance allegations in the killing of a peace officer and the discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, in connection with Crain's death. He faces three additional charges of attempted murder.

Riverside Dist. Atty. Paul Zellerbach said because of the special-circumstance allegations, Dorner could be eligible for the death penalty if convicted.

Cops are engaged in an ongoing gunfight with a suspect believed to be fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner, the focus of a massive manhunt since he allegedly killed a Los Angeles police officer on Thursday.

LAPD says Dorner is dead, KTLA TV reports

BIG BEAR, Calif. — A cabin where a fugitive ex-Los Angeles police officer was believed to have barricaded himself was burning late Tuesday afternoon. A single shot was heard inside before the cabin was engulfed in flames, and no one emerged from the building, according to news reports.

A man believed to be Christopher Dorner, who is sought in three killings, had fled to the cabin after a furious gunbattle with police in the snow-covered mountains of Southern California, authorities said. Two officers were injured in the gunfight, and one of them later died.

A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that police had broken down windows in the cabin, pumped in tear gas and blasted a loud speaker urging Dorner to surrender. When they got no response, police deployed a vehicle to rip down the walls of the cabin "one by one, like peeling an onion," the Times reported.

By the time they got to the last wall, authorities heard a single gunshot, the source said. Then flames began to spread through the structure, and gunshots, probably set off by the fire, were heard.

A body was not found. The police search will be focused in the basement area, the source told the Times.

As the cabin burned, Cindy Bachman, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department, told reporters: "We are planning on a long night. It's an active crime scene. If this is Christopher Dorner, he is wanted for the murder of four people and the attempted murder of three others."

Officers have been swarming the snow-covered Big Bear region since Thursday, when they found Dorner's burned-out pickup truck. The former Navy reservist killed a former police captain's daughter and her fiance and a Riverside police officer, and injured two other officers, police said, promising to bring "warfare" to Los Angeles police and their families.

But, until Tuesday, authorities weren't sure whether Dorner was still near Big Bear or had fled, and thousands of officers were searching for him across three states and Mexico.

On Tuesday afternoon, deputies in the Big Bear area got a report of a stolen vehicle, the sheriff's office said, and the owners described the suspect as looking similar to Dorner.

When authorities found the vehicle, the suspect ran into the forest and barricaded himself inside a cabin. A short time later there was a gunfight and two officers were wounded. One later died; the other officer underwent surgery and was expected to survive.

"Hundreds of rounds" were exchanged during the 30-minute gunbattle, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Schools were locked down and local television stations aired the sounds of gunfire and shouting in a live broadcast from the Big Bear Lake ski resort.

“There are deputies everywhere on the ground," Cindy Bachman, a San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman, told the Times.
Candy Martin, who told the Times she owns the barricaded cabin, said she turned on the news and saw the home surrounded by police.
Martin said she told police the cabin and adjoining buildings were supposed to be empty Monday and had no cable, phone or Internet service, according to the Times.

There were also no firearms inside, she said.

At a news conference, Los Angeles police Cmdr. Andrew Smith said he had this message for the suspect: "Enough is enough. It's time to turn yourself in. It's time to stop the bloodshed."

In the time since the above story was release it’s been reported that unfortunately one of the deputies has died.

The other officer who was shot is expected to survive.

AP source: Calif. driver's license naming Christopher Dorner found in burned cabin with body. http://bit.ly/YUYFZx

    comments

He could have easily had his license in a leather wallet in his back pocket and laying on his back or sitting when the fire burned. Its not impossible for his cards in his wallet not to burn. Those saying he didn't deserve to die after killing innocent people need to get their head out the ground. He would not have stopped until he was killed. Good Job LAPD

    ..

With his killing spree he could have burned someone else's body

    ..

Well he supposedly dropped his wallet a couple days ago. It's just funny to me that we are having all this talk about gun control and first a shooting at a school in dec and now a rogue ex cop starts a killing spree. What a coincidence....

    ..

Read his manifesto this may not be the end

    ..

Here come the conspiracy theorists... HE GOT AWAY! HE GOT AWAY!

    ..

    So much for due process..

    ..

This guy was intelligent enough to stage his death and for all we know, it could very well be the body of another one of his victims! Let's get some positive ID on this body.. It's not over till its over!

    ..

I agree with Joshua. His body didn't survive the fire but his ID did? I really think media should be trained a lil better.

    ...

Hes still alive how can u find a drivers license in a torched cabin dint u think it would have melted to pieces cmon ppl this dude is still alive

    ..

It leaves us to only speculate, and we have little facts that Dorner was even in the Cabin that got burnt down. For all we know this whole charade is being carried out by the LAPD, and let me give you some good reasons and scenarios of why they would be playing games. First of all when they announced him dead, it was premature and they were anxious, once they realized his death could start a string of protests, they said they haven’t found a body. I still believe we should be out in the streets supporting Chris anyways. Of course, best case scenario for our Movement is that Christopher got away and is living to fight another day. Another reason LAPD announced him dead and then said they can’t find his body is they are hoping his disappearance into oblivion will kill our movement. They know Chris has awakened us, the whole country and this movement grows stronger with every minute. The LAPD fear not only Chris, but our movement that supports him. Be sure to buy the bumper stickers and show support for Christopher, we will having some great shirts coming out soon too. Proceeds will go to support this movement and make sure all those who died, died for a positive reason, that will bring change and force Law Enforcement to protect the innocent, not beat, scare, and murder the innocent.

    ..

The issue is that since he had this entire elaborate scheme planned out that he might not be dead. I'm not believing it until the dental records or DNA prove it to be him.

    ..

I am with you Heidi! It seems like they kill first then claim it to be justified! He knew he was a dead man walking but then again can't say that just because they found his drivers liscence doesn't mean the body was his!He is a Marine!

    ..

sure what this man did was wrong. However, I have seen cases where the US has brought even foreign people to trial. Yes he deserved one and perhaps the world would know the truth about the LAPD. They have a history of racism and we all know this. This was totally inhumane. The US gives animals better treatment than this!!!!!

    ..

Ya'll are saying he killed. Even if we had video footage of the 'murders' he still allegedly committed murder, until he is found guilty by a jury. It's a shame to me, to hear people rejoicing over his death, based on a conviction via the media. This is a prime example of folks just going along with the crowd.

    ..

I thought he had already dropped his license somewhere else that they found? Did he have two? Plus the last time I went into a house fire all plastic materials were melted or burned beyond recognition.

    ..

This has stunk since the beginning. There are murderers all over yet this guy they hunted down like in the movies. Sort of reminded me of "Enemy of the State".

    ..

Body burned beyond recognition but not his drivers license? Hmm, I smell a conspiracy coming

It wouldn't surprise me if he faked his death. That way no one would be looking for him and he could get his vengeance and people would just think its randmn murders. I'm going to see if they can identify his body or not. You can tell I watch too much tv, thats the first thing that I thought of when they said it might be his body.

Yup, when it's confirmed, I'll believe they got him.

Although, I would have liked to see him surrendered and gone to trial.

Legal Loophole Could Hold Up $1M Dorner Reward
By RUSSELL GOLDMAN | ABC News – 18 hrs ago.

A legal loophole could prevent good Samaritans, instrumental in ending the manhunt for a fugitive ex-cop accused of killing four people, from claiming more than $1 million in reward money because Christopher Dorner died and was not captured.

Last weekend, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa pledged $1 million, sourced from private individuals, companies and unions, "for information that will lead to Mr. Dorner's capture."

The L.A. City Council followed up with its own promise of a $100,000 reward, for information "leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of Christopher Dorner."

But Dorner, accused of killing four people and threatening the lives of several dozen more, was never captured, apprehended or convicted. Instead, he died following a standoff with police near Big Bear, Calif., when the cabin in which he was barricaded burned down with him inside.

The mayor's office has not yet determined if the reward could still be paid out given Dorner died.

"At this time, no decision has been made on the reward," Villaraigosa's spokesman Peter Sanders told ABC News.com in an email.

So far, none of the privately sourced "funds have been deposited into the City's 'Special Reward Trust Fund,'" according to the Frank T. Mateljan, spokesman for the city attorney.

That still leaves an additional $100,000 that the city council could pay with municipal money, but there legal questions there, as well.

"The reward is definitely still on the table," said Jessica Tarman, spokeswoman for Councilman Daniel Zine.

But there are still plenty of questions.

The council ultimately decides how and to whom the reward will get paid. If its members are feeling generous, they could interpret the language of the original offer to make sure a worthy recipient gets paid.

"Arguably, city law is broad enough to allow payment to persons who assisted in the "identification, apprehension OR arrest and conviction" of a suspect," Metaljan said in an email [emphasis his].

If the city decides to honor the reward, there are still multiple steps before a claimant can be paid.

Anyone who thinks they are worthy must apply in writing. That claim would then be reviewed by the LAPD robbery and homicide division, and a recommendation would be made to the police commissioner. The commissioner would tell the council to consider the claim, and the council would vote on it.

So far, no one has come forward to ask for the reward. More than 1,000 leads were called to a city hotline

One couple seems most deserving, if they decide to seek the reward. Jim and Karen Reynolds, a couple in whose Big Bear, Calif., home Dorner is believed to have hidden for days, called in the tip Tuesday that ultimately put police on the trail to Dorner's final location.

On Tuesday, the couple found Dorner at their home. He briefly held them captive, but they managed to escape and call in their tip.

Dozens of protesters rallied outside Los Angeles police headquarters Saturday in support of Christopher Dorner, the former LAPD officer and suspected killer of four who died after a shootout and fire this week at a mountain cabin following one of the biggest manhunts in recent memory.

Protesters told the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/11Ndm6i ) they didn’t support Dorner’s deadly methods, but objected to police corruption and brutality, and believed Dorner’s claims of racism and unfair treatment by the department. Many said they were angered by the conduct of the manhunt that led to Dorner’s death and injuries to innocent bystanders who were mistaken for him.

Michael Nam, 30, who held a sign with a flaming tombstone and the inscription “RIP Habeas Corpus,” said it was “pretty obvious” police had no intention of bringing Dorner in alive. “They were the judge, the jury and the executioner,” Nam said. “As an American citizen, you have the right to a trial and due process by law.”

During the hunt for Dorner, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck called for Dorner’s surrender and said he didn’t want to see the suspect or anyone else injured.

Dorner was already believed to have killed three people when he was cornered Tuesday at the cabin near Big Bear Lake, and during the standoff shot and killed a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy, authorities said.

Only after calls for surrender and use of milder tear gas did deputies launch pyrotechnic gas canisters into the cabin, and the subsequent fire was not intentional, the Sheriff's Department said.

Dorner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the end of the standoff, sheriff's officials said.

The 33-year-old has already inspired a burgeoning subculture of followers. While most don't condone killing, they see him as an outlaw hero who raged against powerful forces of authority, and some even question whether he really died.

Tributes include a ballad titled "El Matapolicias," or "The Police Killer," penned by a Mexican crooner with lyrics paying homage to Dorner, and a YouTube clip showing excerpts from a video game titled "Christopher Dorner's Last Stand Survival Game" whose opening frame declares him "A True American Hero."

People make heros out of the awfulest people. Someone that kills others shouldn't be a hero.
