    No bluff: Ammo mag company Magpul, other firms will leave if Colorado gun-grabber bills pass;
Update: CO House passes mag limit

    By Michelle Malkin • February 18, 2013 10:47 AM

On Friday, liberal lawmakers in the Colorado state House passed legislation requiring background checks on private gun sales and placing limits on ammo magazines. A final vote may come today before the bills move on to the state Senate. Dems now hold majorities in both chambers and the governor’s mansion is occupied by Democrat John Hickenlooper.

Here’s how radical the proposed measures are compared to the rest of the nation: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/17/us...rado.html?_r=0

…Colorado would join California, New York and Rhode Island as states that require sweeping background checks on virtually all gun purchases.

Currently, only four states prohibit magazines that hold over 10 rounds, while New Jersey bans magazines with more than 15 rounds and Maryland those with more than 20, the group said.

Two other gun measures put forth by Colorado Democrats also received preliminary approval on Friday by House lawmakers. One bill would ban concealed weapons on college campuses. The other would charge gun buyers for background checks.
Hickenlooper has won praise from the Wall Street Journal in the past for showing “good sense” about gun control. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...146551126.html But when progressive push comes to shove, what will Hickenlooper — a rumored 2016 Democratic presidential contender — do? http://news.yahoo.com/2016-see-bobby...223200512.html The test is nigh. As his Democratic colleagues prepare to send him a pile of ineffectual new gun regulations, Colorado-based companies are preparing to abandon the state. Is Hickenlooper ready to accept responsibility for the disappearance of hundreds of jobs and hundreds of millions in revenue and spending? Ammo magazine manufacturer Magpul served notice late last week:
    http://www.denverpost.com/breakingne...ave-state-over

Colorado’s largest and most profitable manufacturer of high-capacity ammunition magazines has vowed to leave the state if lawmakers pass a measure banning the devices — a move officials with the company say could cost hundreds of jobs and upward of $85 million in potential spending this year.

Magpul’s threat has Democratic lawmakers scrambling to strike a balance that remains true to their goal of limiting the number of rounds a magazine can hold without frightening off businesses.

“If we’re able to stay in Colorado and manufacture a product, but law-abiding citizens of the state were unable to purchase the product, customers around the state and the nation would boycott us for remaining here,” said Doug Smith, Magpul’s chief operating officer. “Staying here would hurt our business.”

…in addition to a wide array of gun-magazine products, the privately-held Magpul makes many other products, including cases for mobile phones and tactical sights for firearms. This year, the company says it expects to spend upward of $85 million in Colorado alone on employee payroll, manufacturing subcontractors, suppliers and service providers.

Smith said much of Magpul’s business comes from out-of-state sales, contracts with the U.S. military, and with local and national law enforcement.

The ripple effect could reach a dozen other firms located in Colorado: http://www.denverpost.com/breakingne...ufacturer-says

If Magpul Industries follows through on its threat to leave Colorado, it could harm more than a dozen Front Range firms specializing in plastic injection molding and reduce the region’s capacity in that manufacturing process.

…As much as possible, the company tries to contract with Colorado vendors, who represent about 90 percent of its supply chain, he said. Those suppliers received about $46 million last year from Magpul, with the company projecting that number to reach $85 million for 2013, Liptak said.

A large share of those dollars goes to manufacturers that mold the company’s mostly plastic components, including the controversial cases that can hold more than 15 rounds.

North Denver’s Alfred Manufacturing Co. has grown from 40 employees in 2008 to 150 largely because of the work provided by Magpul, said the company’s third-generation chief executive, Greg Alfred.

“If House Bill 1224 passes, we will relocate part or all of our operations out of state,” Alfred warned Gov. John Hickenlooper and members of the state legislature in a letter Friday.

Alfred said plans for a $1 million expansion to add another 15,000-square-foot building to the 60,000 square feet the company has at West 44th Avenue and Elati Street are on hold.

…Blaine Dacus, molding-division manager at Alfred, said Magpul contracts support more than a dozen plastic-injection- molding firms.

“They have kept molders in business,” Dacus said.

Alfred Manufacturing’s legacy metal stamping and machining business runs on four 10-hour shifts a week, while Magpul contracts have kept the plastics side going 24/7, Alfred said.
Arrogant Democrats here in Colorado have fooled themselves into thinking that companies like Magpul are bluffing. The company fired back last night on Facebook:

We’re hearing some rumors that the Gov and the Dem caucus think we are bluffing. Just to clarify for them, then…we’re not a political company. We don[']t play political games. We’ve made our position very clear, very publicly. We would not survive lying to our customer base, nor would we ever consider it. If you pass this, we will leave, and you will own it. We’ve already got plans in place to get PMAG manufacturing moved rapidly, and the rest of the company will follow. We will make sure to at least have a small remain-behind operation through the 2014 elections so that we can remind folks why we are gone.

In other news to be filed under Gun Control Hysteria Has Consequences, a number of gun makers are now refusing to sell arms to police in gun-grabbing New York state: http://www.timesunion.com/local/arti...es-4283654.php

Olympia, Wash.-based Olympic Arms is one of the industry’s smaller players, but news that it has stopped sales to police in the Empire State has added a new twist to the protests over the law, and lit a fire in the blogosphere.

“We just didn’t feel it was right,” said Brian Schuetz, Olympic’s president and co-owner.

The new law allows continued sales of assault-style rifles to police agencies but not to civilians. “It didn’t make sense that citizens can’t have what police departments have,” Schuetz said.

Schuetz’s company posted an expansive explanation of its decision to pull out of New York on its Facebook page: ” … Legislation recently passed in the State of New York outlaws the AR-15 and many other firearms, and will make it illegal for the good and free citizens of New York to own a large selection of legal and safe firearms and magazines. We feel as though the passage of this legislation exceeds the authority granted to the government of New York by its citizens, and violates the Constitution of the United States.”
LaRue Tactical and EFI have also joined the sales boycott against New York. http://www.policymic.com/articles/26...tate-employees

Is this Colorado’s fate? What say you, Gov. Hickenlooper?

    ***

Update: The Colorado House just passed the magazine limit 34-31, with three Democrats voting no. On to the state Senate. Meanwhile, three more gun control measures up for recorded votes today.

Colorado morons want to leave women defenseless:
“Vomiting or urinating” better than carrying a gun

    By Michelle Malkin • February 18, 2013 06:36 PM

Two items for you that will make your blood boil, especially the womenfolk out there:

    1) The first via Jesse Byrnes here in Colorado…here’s what the University of Colorado- Colorado Springs advises innocent victims to do when they fall prey to attackers: http://www.twitter.com/jessebyrnes

What To Do If You Are Attacked
These tips are designed to help you protect yourself on campus, in town, at your home, or while you travel. These are preventative tips and are designed to instruct you in crime prevention tactics.

Be realistic about your ability to protect yourself.

Your instinct may be to scream, go ahead! It may startle your attacker and give you an opportunity to run away.

Kick off your shoes if you have time and can’t run in them.

Don’t take time to look back; just get away.

If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.

Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating.

Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone.

Yelling, hitting or biting may give you a chance to escape, do it!

Understand that some actions on your part might lead to more harm.

Remember, every emergency situation is different. Only you can decide which action is most appropriate.
They forgot a surefire deterrent: Dress up as a Code Pink activist.

    More UCCS Tips to come…

    - Offer your attacker a joint. It’s legal in Colorado!

    - If vomiting or urinating doesn’t work, try passing gas.

    2) Via Dana Loesch http://www.redstate.com/dloesch/2013...g-to-be-raped/ and Revealing Politics, http://revealingpolitics.com/ Colorado state rep. John Salazar doesn’t think women need a gun to protect them from rapists. Instead, they should be happy with rape whistles. Click the links for video.

Instead, they should be happy with rape whistles
A whistle or my 9 mm Glock ?

    ..

Could it be that the Gun grabbers would rather see women beaten, raped and killed just to maintain their insane self-defense denial dogma?

    (Passive) war on women?

    ....

And rest assured, like the Occupy Vermin – if the rapist is caught, he will be given a stern talking too and not allowed to eat in the communal tent. He will be forgiven very quickly because after all, the would be rapist/rapist is a victim and a product of the patriarchic society of Dead White guys. His raping tendencies were only given vent because of the inequality of the workers versus the Banker elite, therefore rape of an innocent female is justifiable as a protest against the Bourgeoisie, or some such leftist drivel .

    ...

This is no different than that Akin moron. What they are really saying is 'get over it - disarming Americans is far more important than your small sacrifice as a rape/murder victim.'

    ..

some of these demented attackers may be perverts, and may like the vomit or urine. i am positive none of them will like a small lead projectile moving at high speeds at selected parts of thier person... but the libs never consider these possibilities.

    ..

If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.
Yeah tell that to the victims of the Foot Hood terrorist attack, or Sandy Hook elementary, or the Aurora Colorado theater, or the Portland Oregon mall shooting, or the…..

UPDATE : KDVR reports that Salazar has apologized: http://kdvr.com/2013/02/18/conservat...nt-about-rape/

“I’m sorry if I offended anyone. That was absolutely not my intention,” Salazar said. “We were having a public policy debate on whether or not guns makes people safer on campus. I don’t believe they do. That was the point I was trying to make. If anyone thinks I’m not sensitive to the dangers women face, they’re wrong.

“I am a husband and father of two beautiful girls, and I’ve spent the last decade defending women’s rights as a civil rights attorney. Again, I’m deeply sorry if I offended anyone with my comments.”
If Salazar was truly sensitive to the dangers we face then he would understand how statistics do not work in our favor — unless we level the playing field by exercising our Second Amendment right. Salazar also doesn’t explain his insinuation that women basically ditzes who are incapable of proper reasoning and capable of handling firearms, in fact, he backhandedly defends it by saying it was a justifiable example for his prejudice against women’s defense.

Salazar claims to have a record of defending women’s rights but his actions to disenfranchise them of their Second Amendment rights are completely contradictory to that claim. One in four collegiate women report rape and one in five are raped. Salazar wants to deprive women of their right to defense with these odds? Just blow your rape whistles and pray that an attacker represents the “safe zone” boundaries? The best apology is a reversal of his war on women.

Let me get this straight... conservative men are not allowed to talk about abortion because it's a "women's issue," but this jackwagon can theorize about how a woman "feels" like she may or may not be raped and the effectiveness of a rape whistle?

    ...

I wonder what is the typical response of passers-by to a rape whistle. How does one determine if the whistle is, in fact, a rape whistle? I wonder how many times a rape whistle has to be blown before some passer-by says, "Gee, I wonder if that's a rape whistle?" How many more times does it have to be blown before said passer-by decides to investigate and call for help? This is information I would want to know when deciding whether to recommend to my daughter that she carry a rape whistle or a Glock

    ..

I think a rape pistol would be much more effective than a rape whistle.

    ...

Only leftists and the party of victims get to define rape, and when it happens, and how we get to defend ourselves. Just exactly what is a young woman supposed to do if the rapist crosses into the safe zone and stands between her and the call box. Wave, I mean brandish, the whistle at him?

    ...

All a call box or a safe zone is good for is to let the police know *where* to begin looking for the woman's body, with a whistle only good for letting them know *when*.

    ...

So, where are all of the femmanistas? They scream for women's rights for birth control, etc - but not for the ability to defend themselves? Will they stay quiet because a dem made these disgusting remarks? If so, they will further reveal their liberal biases that have nothing to do with women's rights.

    ...

Flag as inappropriateI think he was trying to make a point without merit, and then added insult to injury by making it badly. Politicians do this. The difference is when a democrat does it the press pays no attention. even when supporters of said moronic statement double down on stupid. When a republican does it however, well, it literally is considered war on "whatever" by the talking heads with even conservative ones seemingly intent to eat their own.

    ...

The chance that a woman ,an old person or someone with disabilities of some kind may be armed makes them a little safer . We should take all of the armed guards out of the capital and replace them with whistles .

How about we replace the Secret Service detail's guns and replace them with whistles ?

    ...

I smell a rat and he stinks whatever his intent. Women need to be encouraged like everyone to know self defense so that it is natural and we do not miss when we fire. But even so its not for Salazar to judge who can handle a gun.

The founders made that decison in 1787-88 when they enshrined the Second amendment to the constitution. They wanted to make sure we all can be armed for our own purposes and reasons. Self defense comes first for many women today.

Nothing deters attacks or break-ins like knowing the target of an attack can zap the attacker to kingdom come , out of sight and mind to boot.

    ..

People who have not been trained to carry a concealed firearm should not carry one. The act of defending one's self with a firearm is an enormous, life changing event. Indeed, carrying a concealed firearm is a major lifestyle change. To do so safely requires education. I would never recommend someone carry a concealed firearm without having attended a course on carrying a concealed firearm.

That being said, this guy is a moron. What happens when people carry concealed and they have not been trained to do it safely and effectively is they end up shooting themselves in the leg, hand, arm, foot or shooting a wall, toilet, toilet stall, or door. In some rare cases, they accidentally shoot someone else in the process of shooting themselves and other objects. The vast majority of the time, these wounds are not fatal. Less than 5% of the time they are. However, to think that a college campus would turn into the O K Corral is ignorant of the data. Pure and simple.

My children will be trained to carry a concealed firearm safely. If they are in a situation where they fear for their safety, they will be able to defend themselves effectively and safely, and then call for help. If the only weapon a woman, or a man for that matter, has is the perceived ability to call for help, that ability can be taken away too easily. It's the ability to effectively inflict bodily harm that is the true deterrent. If that isn't enough deterrent for Joe Clown, then calling for help won't stop him. A few holes in his torso will.

    ...

Why? Have you been to a concealed class? Maybe if you have the one you went to actually taught you enough in a few hours on Saturday that you feel "educated," but the rest of the world go to the class, get a few shots in, act like they learn all there is to learn about gun laws, and then they have their permit. The reality is that the classes are nothing more than the only thing the anti gun crowd could get in when they fought us carrying guns.

Having a gun on your hip is no different than having one in your home. There will always be the moron who does not know enough about their gun that they do more damage then good, but most of us educate ourselves and the class is not where we received the education.

Guns are a responsibility and most treat them with respect. They practice shooting them, they know the laws of their state, they know what is defined as self defense, and they act appropriate. A class does nothing but waste their time, but until the left stops attacking our right to guns and self defense, we will be forced to take the class. But do not be fooled, the class is not what "teaches" anyone and with or without the class, most responsible adults teach themselves and learn about the weapon or weapons they own. The classes are forced nonsense that do nothing to make a person responsible. People in this country were carrying weapons on them, around town, in churches, in buildings, etc and were doing fine long before CCW classes were invented. Stop the classes today, and we will continue to do fine and the vast majority will remain responsible by practicing with their weapon and keeping up with local and state laws.

    ...

IMHO - Salazar expresses a view that women are wards of the state but then so is everyone else in his eyes. Call the cops and that is it. Retreat? Repulse? 'Wards' status - as if we are all delicate fainting Victorian flowers - denies us our full humanity and the opportunity to seek that full potential sink or swim. I'll take my chances on sinking but have been swimming since I was five.

I can dial 9-11 but in the meantime while I wait I want to have a loaded gun just in case.

Are You Ready To Conceal Carry?
    by CTD Suzanne

The number of first-time gun owners has steadily increased over the last year. Over half of all gun owners report the primary reason for owning a gun is for self-defense. The majority of gun owners believe their right to defend themselves extends beyond their home. If you are considering joining the eight million Americans who hold concealed carry permits, there are a few questions you need to ask yourself before proceeding.

All states differ in their requirements in issuing a concealed carry permit.

Federal law recognizes our right to defend ourselves with a gun; however, at the state level carrying a gun is a privilege. In regards to whom and how one can carry, the states are may-issue, shall-issue, no-issue, or states that do not require a permit at all to carry.

•A may-issue state issues permits on a discretionary basis.
•A shall-issue state will issue you a permit if you meet the requirements.
•A no-issue state does not allow anyone to carry a gun. There are only two states where concealed carry is illegal—Illinois and Washington D.C.
•Arizona, Vermont, Alaska and Wyoming do not require a permit for legal citizens to carry a gun.

All states differ in their requirements and fees when issuing a concealed carry permit. For example, Texas requires a 10-hour class before allowing you to get a carry license, while Washington does not. USACarry.com is an excellent resource by state listing all requirements. http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_ca...formation.html

Further, each state differs in the laws regarding how, where and when you man carry. The required class in Texas goes over these laws. In states that do not require a class, you need to familiarize yourself and know your state’s specific laws. The NRA-ILA has a website detailing each state’s gun laws. http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-laws.aspx

Becoming a concealed carry permit-holder is a great responsibility and often requires a lifestyle change. I say this because there is no point in getting a permit if you are not going to carry. There is a plethora of information on what gun to purchase for concealed carry to what type of holster to buy. These decisions will help you pick the right gun and the right holster so you are comfortable enough to carry every day.

On that note, you must ask yourself:

Am I going to carry my self-defense gun every day?

Unfortunately, the potential for a life and death situation to occur is possible anywhere you go. You are not prepared to protect yourself and innocent others if you do not carry.

Am I ready to take another human life?

I have read that it is not our instinct to kill another human. When the time comes, will you be able to pull the trigger to save your life or the life of another? Settle your spiritual conflictions first before getting a concealed carry license.

If you frequent places that do not allow firearms, you will need to reconsider where you hang out.

Am I willing to change my lifestyle?

When you conceal carry, it is highly possible you will have to change your wardrobe. Concealed means concealed. It is illegal in many states to brandish your firearm. Many people wear a cover garment to make sure their gun never shows. Next, there are places where it is illegal to carry. The majority of states do not let you carry into a bar. If you frequent places that do not allow firearms, you will need to reconsider where you hang out.

Am I competent shooting my gun?

You should be a proficient shot and confident in your abilities to hit your target. Can you draw from a holster safely, quickly and effectively? Do you know how to clear malfunctions quickly? You should know your gun inside and out. Knowing how to shoot and grip your gun well requires practice and training. Taking the time and dedication to take classes, range trips and dry firing at home keeps your skill level up to par. If you do not enjoy shooting, or never practice shooting, you may possibly may end up dead because you could not work your gun.

    Am I hot headed?

Part of the responsibility of carrying a concealed weapon is to diffuse a potential dangerous situation. This means you avoid or leave situations that could escalate into a fight or confrontation. You must remain even-tempered and calm. If you are the type of person who sees red quickly, you probably need to work on your anger before getting a concealed carry permit.

Choosing to carry a gun for self-defense is a noble and honorable responsibility. Don’t let my recommendations frighten you. Millions of people carry every day—safely—and never have to use their gun. I just want you to be as prepared as possible if you ever have to.

But when genius Colorado Democrat Joe Salazar insisted hysterical womenfolk can’t be trusted to accurately identify a rape threat, much less fend one off with anything more powerful than a 9mm whistle? http://twitchy.com/2013/02/18/rep-jo...-risk-of-rape/ http://www.themorlockrevolt.com/2013...e-whistle.html Crickets from the For the Women™ crowd. Perhaps they agree with Salazar: It’s not “rape-rape” until a male Dem gives his stamp of approval, you dumb broads.

And when the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs issued tips for “passive resistance” to rape, like on-demand vomiting and fake menstruation? Chirp, chirp, chirp. http://twitchy.com/2013/02/18/who-ne...to-avoid-rape/

But somehow, the feminist pearl-clutchers found the strength to take up a new cause when they caught wind of @SooperMexican’s #LiberalTips2AvoidRape hashtag. http://www.soopermexican.com/2013/02...ips2avoidrape/

No, what’s offensive and disgusting is the dangerous liberal desire to deprive women of the right to self-defense. But anything to give cover to fellow progressives, right?

    El SOOPer!! @SooperMexican

Liberals are seriously more offended by the hashtag #LiberalTips2AvoidRape than by politicians making it easier for women to be raped.

Women deserve better means of self protection than #LiberalTips2AvoidRape, which include blowing a whistle and urinating on yourself.

    1:21 PM - 19 Feb 13
Here are some of the #LiberalTipstoAvoidRape that are apparently more offensive than actual rapes that occur when women are disarmed and disempowered by the blood-boiling Left.

yell "racist" at your rapist... that's like the worst thing ever!

Try to relate to the attacker’s feelings

At the top of your lungs: 'I AM CURRENTLY ATTRACTING BEARS."

    Occupy a rape tent.

declare yourself a crime free zone

    Pass a law against it

Cover yourself with a mix of chocolate and your own feces. BONUS: You get a National Endowment for the Arts grant!

    don't get raped

well, this one is easy but you're going to need some ruby slippers

Just stay in those "rape free zones" ladies

Just tap the would-be rapist on the shoulder and say, "Tag, you're it. Now it's your turn to hide."

Tell him you don't believe in guns and don't have one, but you called the cops and they'll arrive in 12 minutes
Stop triggering feminists by attacking reckless leftist policies and rhetoric that harm women! Stick to making sure women are as defenseless as possible. And ladies, if you want to avoid rape, go practice the liberal-approved method of blowing a whistle while faking your period.

    Redonda McNeil @dondalynn

If you think this ----> #LiberalTips2AvoidRape is mocking rape victims then #YouMightBeAnIdiot. Seek the appropriate help.

Rape Survivor: A Call Box Above My Head While I Was Being Brutally Raped Wouldn't Have Helped
    http://instantanalysis.net/latest-he...nt-have-helped

Amanda Collins is a young rape survivor. While in college in 2007, she was raped 50 feet away from the campus police department office at the University of Nevada-Reno and was lucky to get out alive. Her attacker was James Biela, a serial rapist who raped two other women and murdered another. He attacked her at gun point in a gun free zone. At the time of the attack, Collins was in possession of a concealed weapons permit but was not in possession of her firearm due to university policies prohibiting carrying concealed weapons on campus. She was also a second degree blackbelt at the time and walked to the parking garage with a large group of people. Today, Collins did an interview with NRA News host Cam Edwards to tell her horrific story. She explained why Colorado Democratic Rep. Joe Salazar's comments about call boxes and rape whistles being sufficient self defense for women on campus will only result in more uncessary victims.

"If I had been carrying that night, two other rapes would have been prevented and a young life would have been saved," Collins said. "All of these are just sentiments that give a false sense of security. In my experience I know that the university that I attended, the University of Nevada-Reno, they didn't didn't have any call boxes the night I was attacked. They afterwards installed them but I can tell you that a call box above my head while I was straddled on the parking garage floor being brutally raped wouldn't have helped me one bit. The safe zone? I was in a safe zone and my attacker didn't care," Collins said. "It's known that I could see the police cruisers less than 50 feet away from me, from where I was being attacked but the moment I saw those cruisers, I knew at the same time that no one was coming for me....they were all off duty. The offices had closed. They weren't in their cruisers, there was no one there. A whistle wouldn't have gotten anybody's attention. It was isolated, it was late at night. It's really frustrating that I'm supposed to hand over my own protection to a man but they're not able to guarantee our protection and the comments that this representative made about women not knowing if they're going to be raped or accidentally shooting the wrong person was extremely offensive because he specifically targeted female students. So, is he saying that all women are unable to make sound decisions in the midst of that, that we should go against our God given gut instinct that something was wrong? I knew something was wrong the moment I was grabbed from behind."

Red-tape and university policies led to this happening and empowered Biela while punishing Collins.

"I was legislated into being a victim," Collins said.

The entire interview is worth your time. Please, take the time to watch it and please share it widely. Not surprisingly, CNN's Piers Morgan denied Collins' request to come on his show and tell her story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=0t5BTl6m7Kk

Collins is now an advocate for concealed carry on campuses across the country. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/08...-nevada-woman/

Across the country, lawmakers are debating whether universities should let students and faculty with permits carry their concealed weapon on campus. Those who want to put an end to such gun-free zones have found an unlikely hero in a petite, soft spoken, young woman who wonders why colleges protect most Constitutional rights, but not the one that matters most when staring into the face of a violent criminal.
    comments

Sadly this is a prime example of gun control failing, the laws we put in place greatly increase the likelihood of a violent crime in respect to the "Gun Free Zone." If this case alone doesn't show you that no matter what the training, experiences, etc, people can and will still become victims. Criminals target "soft targets" which are people who feel safe, and know they aren't armed. It's our right to defend ourselves, and the governments shouldn't put limits on it. Cops aren't the answer, because even if we had one on every street corner, they still can't deal with everything going on. What is the answer is to stop disarming law-abiding citizens and focus on the criminals with gun.

    ..

If they won't allow guns on campus (which I really disagree with most strongly since I support the 2A), maybe the Democratic Rep in Colorado thinks women should carry small spray bottles of acid. Yep, that might do it or just let them conceal carry, right? This is getting crazy, folks. I live in Virginia. I can conceal carry (CC) in Walmart. I can CC in the public library. I can CC at the movie theater but I can't at a school or college. What is the difference? All of these locations have large concentrations of people. What is wrong with the logical thinking process of my fellow citizens. People want to defend themselves. Police can't be everywhere. What is the problem?

    ..

Gun-free zone = target rich environment.

So far what I have seen is men's viewpoints on how women can respond when being raped.

    ..

terday in Southern California eight people killed.Police are investigating. This country's values have dropped to the point that we must protect ourselves. In most cases police are there after the fact ... That is what the police are there for ------ to call the coronor and tell them how many body bags to bring... and to investigate the crime AFTER it has happened.

    ..

I find it very ironic that these same RATs are now pushing for college age women to be assigned to front line combat units in our military.

Doesn't that turd Salazar, see that same irony?

    ..

"CNN's Piers Morgan denied Collins' request to come on his show and tell her story."
Not surprised ... that is not the story they want told

    ...

Can you only imagine what the national press would be doing to some nation loving conservative Republican who made a statement about women being raped like what this un-American pudsucking Colorado Democraphead Rep. Joe Salazar made?

Oh that's right a few have, and those two or three had their political careers completely destroyed by the same free press that gave the above mentioned @#$% a skate for his stupidity.

Sheriff Joe Biden held what was billed as a Fireside Gaffe Hangout today on gun control. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/poli...icle-1.1246228

A question for Biden revolved around protecting ones life and property from people trying to take advantage during a disaster (i.e. earthquake, flood, a Biden presidency). Joe’s recommendation was three simple words: Shotgun.

Double barrel to be specific. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/...medium=twitter

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=wcxVovpJdi8

What if the number of people simultaneously descending upon you is greater than the number of barrels on your shotgun? Look for Joe to start pushing a “Give Your Victims Time to Reload Their Double Barrel Shotguns” act that would legally require criminals to fight fair.

In other gun news, today during Dianne Feinstein’s introduction of a bill to ban “assault weapons,” Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy said that “if guns aren’t in stores, they can’t be bought.” http://twitchy.com/2013/01/24/rep-ca...ant-be-bought/ ( yeah ... that’s why it isn’t possible to buy meth.... )

They do not get it do they? In all honesty, we’ve allowed the Joe Biden’s of the democratic party to frame the argument. They’ve always said it’s about hunting and that led to their “assault rifle” ban and we went with their explanation. It’s not about hunting, it’s about defending yourself against tyranny.

    ..

99.99% of the time, an assault rifle isn’t needed for home defense. Likewise, 99.99% percent of the time, a fire extinguisher is not needed for home protection either. Does that mean that he wants to outlaw fire extinguishers? People buy fire extinguishers “just in case”, hoping they’ll never need to use them; which oddly enough, is the same reason people buy assault rifle lookalikes for the same reason. (Most people can’t afford the high 4 digit on up prices and paperwork to buy an actual assault rifle.)

What an assault rifle is actually needed for is this case:
US News: Biden’s legal advice will get you arrested
posted at 2:41 pm on February 21, 2013 by Ed Morrissey

When I first heard about Joe Biden’s response to a question about home defense, I said, “What?” As it turns out, I wasn’t alone in my shock over the extremely dangerous advice given by Biden as an alternative to owning an AR-15 or a high-capacity magazine for any other semiautomatic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Kj1GaX_-E-E

“I said, ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house,’” Biden said.

“You don’t need an AR-15—it’s harder to aim,” he added, “it’s harder to use, and in fact you don’t need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Buy a shotgun! Buy a shotgun!”
If you follow the Vice President’s advice here, you may well find yourself in prison for negligent homicide, as US News explains: http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/...-biden-in-jail

Before we get to Steven Nelson’s analysis of the “the worst type of advice,” Allahpundit made a point about the weapon choice:

Here’s the vice president of the United States encouraging you to go on out and get yourself a 12-gauge, just like the one he’s got. Why? Because it’s easier to aim and use than an AR-15, which … I’m pretty sure isn’t true, but whatever. Just buy a shotgun. Buy a shotgun. That way, if ever you snap and head off on a killing spree, the death toll will be limited. Unless you bring a bag of shells with you and reload quickly, I guess. In which case, who knows?
A shotgun is a good choice for home defense, but not the double-barreled type, unless you’re fortunate to only have one threat in front of you. It takes too much time to open the weapon, pull out the spent shells, and reload, especially when frightened and stressed. A pump-action shotgun is a much better choice because (a) it holds more rounds in case there is more than one threat, and (b) no one can possibly mistake the cha-chunk of a pump loading the shell. A shotgun is easier to aim because you don’t need as much precision to hit the target, as you would with an AR-15 and especially a pistol under stress. If you get close, you’ll probably score a hit.

The rest, however, is nonsense — and dangerous nonsense, seemingly taken from TV shows rather than any sort of instruction on firearms use. Anyone who has gone through a firearms safety course knows this basic rule: Never fire a “warning shot” into the air — especially when it means you have to reload immediately, as you would with two blasts from a double-barreled shotgun; you’ve just effectively disarmed yourself.

But more to the point, it ignores the physics of the ammunition. What goes up must come down, and when it does, it can kill — and often does:
Rob Wiltbank, a gun rights advocate who founded Delaware Open Carry in 2008, told U.S. News he agrees with the vice president that a shotgun would be good for home protection, but he was also troubled by the hypothetical.

“It would be incredibly irresponsible of a gun owner to blindly discharge a firearm into the air,” said Wiltbank. “What goes up, must come down and this specific behavior has been the cause of many negligent homicides over the years.”

Tom Shellenberger, a lawyer who serves as a spokesman for the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association, told U.S. News that Biden’s security tip was “the worst type of advice.”

It also ignores another key legal fact that people who study to carry weapons learn immediately, which is that one cannot use deadly force to protect property. Self-defense in homicides only apply when there is a reasonable belief that one’s life is in imminent danger (or that of another):

Garey said that under Biden’s scenario, Jill Biden could be charged with aggravated menacing, a felony, and reckless endangering in the first degree.

“You cannot use deadly force to protect property” in Delaware, added Garey.

“It is not uncommon” for people to be charged with crimes under similar circumstances, he said. “I’ve seen cases where lawful citizens have used guns outside their homes and they end up arrested.”
    Besides, it’s also tactically stupid:

In addition to felony charges, Shellenberger cited the “Discharge of a firearm within 15 yards of a road (7 Del.C. § 719), a misdemeanor,” and “Violation of the residential dwelling safety zone as set forth in 7 Del.C. § 723, also a misdemeanor.”

“Beyond the potential criminal liability, it is simply bad advice,” added Shellenberger. “Not only does blasting blindly away put innocent persons at risk, it also tells the bad guys where you are and that you are armed. In most circumstances, it might be better if that comes as a surprise to the bad guys.”
If Biden doesn’t have the common sense to understand any of the above, let alone all of the above, why should anyone trust his efforts to rewrite gun laws that limit our legal rights to self-defense?

The Disarming of Our Vets! Veterans Receive Letters from Dept. of Vet. Affairs Prohibiting Possession of Firearms or Ammunition
    Published on February 21st, 2013

Written By Constitutional Attorney Michael Connelly, J.D.

How would you feel if you received a letter from the U.S. Government informing you that because of a physical or mental condition that the government says you have it is proposing to rule that you are incompetent to handle your own financial affairs? Suppose that letter also stated that the government is going to appoint a stranger to handle your affairs for you at your expense? That would certainly be scary enough but it gets worse.

What if that letter also stated: “A determination of incompetency will prohibit you from purchasing, possessing, receiving, or transporting a firearm or ammunition. If you knowingly violate any of these prohibitions, you may be fined, imprisoned, or both pursuant to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, Pub.L.No. 103-159, as implemented at 18, United States Code 924(a)(2).”?

That makes is sound like something right from a documentary on a tyrannical dictatorship somewhere in the world. Yet, as I write this I have a copy of such a letter right in front of me. It is being sent by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of America’s heroes. In my capacity as Executive Director of the United States Justice Foundation (USJF) I have been contacted by some of these veterans and the stories I am getting are appalling.

The letter provides no specifics on the reasons for the proposed finding of incompetency; just that is based on a determination by someone in the VA. In every state in the United States no one can be declared incompetent to administer their own affairs without due process of law and that usually requires a judicial hearing with evidence being offered to prove to a judge that the person is indeed incompetent. This is a requirement of the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that states that no person shall “… be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law…”.

    http://minutemennews.com/2013/02/the...or-ammunition/

Obviously, the Department of Veterans Affairs can’t be bothered by such impediments as the Constitution, particularly since they are clearly pushing to fulfill one of Obama’s main goals, the disarming of the American people. Janet Napolitano has already warned law enforcement that some of the most dangerous among us are America’s heroes, our veterans, and now according to this letter from the VA they can be prohibited from buying or even possessing a firearm because of a physical or mental disability.

Think about it, the men and women who have laid their lives on the line to defend us and our Constitution are now having their own Constitutional rights denied. There are no clear criteria for the VA to declare a veteran incompetent. It can be the loss of a limb in combat, a head injury, a diagnosis of PTSD, or even a soldier just telling someone at the VA that he or she is depressed over the loss of a buddy in combat. In none of these situations has the person been found to be a danger to themselves or others. If that was the case than all of the Americans who have suffered from PTSD following the loss of a loved one or from being in a car accident would also have to be disqualified from owning firearms. It would also mean that everyone who has ever been depressed for any reason should be disarmed. In fact, many of the veterans being deprived of their rights have no idea why it is happening.

The answer seems to be it is simply because they are veterans. At the USJF we intend to find the truth by filing a Freedom of Information Act request to the Department of Veterans Affairs to force them to disclose the criteria they are using to place veterans on the background check list that keeps them from exercising their Second Amendment rights. Then we will take whatever legal steps are necessary to protect our American warriors.

The reality is that Obama will not get all of the gun control measures he wants through Congress, and they wouldn’t be enough for him anyway. He wants a totally disarmed America so there will be no resistance to his plans to rob us of our nation. That means we have to ask who will be next. If you are receiving a Social Security check will you get one of these letters? Will the government declare that you are incompetent because of your age and therefore banned from firearm ownership. It certainly fits in with the philosophy and plans of the Obama administration. It is also certain that our military veterans don’t deserve this and neither do any other Americans.

“SHOCK REPORT — Veterans Receive Letters From VA Prohibiting Ownership or Purchase of Firearms”

From Gateway Pundit, http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2013...e-of-firearms/ who quotes the reaction of Constitutional attorney Michael J Connelly, JD, originally posted to Red Flag News [emphasis in the GP excerpt]:

How would you feel if you received a letter from the U.S. Government informing you that because of a physical or mental condition that the government says you have it is proposing to rule that you are incompetent to handle your own financial affairs? Suppose that letter also stated that the government is going to appoint a stranger to handle your affairs for you at your expense? That would certainly be scary enough but it gets worse.

That makes is sound like something right from a documentary on a tyrannical dictatorship somewhere in the world. Yet, as I write this I have a copy of such a letter right in front of me.
First, let me say this: I don’t find this shocking in the least. In fact, what this is is a kind of trial balloon / test run for what we can expect once “common sense” “universal background checks” tied to government-mandated databases from both the mental health professionals and, thanks to ObamaCare, the rest of your doctors, who will report your prescription drug use, are collated in order to find the “defectives”.

Having said that, there is little doubt that some vets will be mentally shattered and should probably be under psychiatric care until such time that they are ready to re-enter society safely. Even still, there will be workarounds.

The problem here, though, is one of conflation: any doubt that some bureaucratically-contrived matrix will be used to suggest that those private citizens on, say, anti-depressants, or anti-convulsives — because of the potential side-effects (like suicidal tendencies in some, mostly teens) — are to be prohibited from gun ownership as well? Or that those who’ve experienced bouts of anxiety be ruled dangers? Or that, per the NIH and DHS, those who have adopted such crazy, extremist ideas as a desire for limited government and individual autonomy aren’t deemed dangerous, fringe, and — as potential domestic terrorists — relieved of their natural rights? For the greater good?

Make no mistake: this is what unprincipled Republicans like McCain, Coburn, Cantor, and Kirk are agreeing to — regardless of what “safeguards” they pretend they’ll add to their push to give the New Left bi-partisan cover for a universal background check or magazine bans that serve to empower the police over law-abiding citizens who are, constitutionally-speaking, their equal in terms of the right to keep and bear arms — and the end game will be a winnowing down of those “permitted” by the government to exercise their natural rights.

Meaning “shall not be infringed” will have become, through legislative slight of hand and the slow erosion of the Second Amendment in the Courts, “shall not be infringed unless the government says it can and must be. For the children.”

This is who and what they are. And party doesn’t matter, clearly. The left is working through an ideological playbook that requires the citizens be at the mercy of the state’s power. And the “pragmatists” in the GOP so want to be liked and caressed by the Beltway liberal media that they are happy to surrender our rights for some positive press about how they were bravely willing to stand up to the gun lobby and vote against gun violence and for children.

They are shallow and unserious, and were it possible to recall them, that’s what I’d be working to do. As it stands, though, I’m content to simply turn their names to expletives, and stand back and allow them to help finish off the GOP establishment once and for all.
