    Our Pathetic President
    September 17, 2014 By Alan Caruba

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that Syria and Iraq are now just lines on a map at this point. They don’t exist as national states because the former is locked in a civil war that will replace its dictator one way or the other and the latter’s alleged government is deeply divided between the usual schism of Sunni and Shiite.

More to the point, Iraq’s government is led by men who are the friends and pawns of Iran. In a recent issue of the Iranian newspaper, Eternad, an Iranian analyst commented on the new Iraqi cabinet noting that its new prime minister “enjoys Iran’s support and spend his formative years in Iran, and continued (the operation of the Islamic al-Dawa party) until the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime.”

That fall was the result of the war waged against Saddam by President George W. Bush. The Iranian analyst noted that Iraq’s new foreign minister, Dr. Ebrahim Jafari “until recently lived in Tehran in Iran, and enjoyed Iran’s support in spite of his differences with Nouri al-Maleki (the former prime minister). The new Iraqi oil minister, transport minister, and minister of sport and youth were all described as “close to Iran, who either lived in Iran before, fought against the Ba’ath regime with Iran’s help, or constantly traveled to Iran.”

Iraq and Syria came into being when French and British diplomats created them as colonies following the end of World War I, the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and the Treaty of Versailles.

In his September 10th speech, President Obama uttered the word “war” only once and then only to say “We will not be dragged into another ground war in Iraq.”

The speech, like everything he says, was a lie constructed to undue the truth he inadvertently admitted when he revealed “We have no strategy.” If you do not intend to go to war, you do not need a strategy. Instead, you can pretend to the American public that the war will be fought by Iraqis and Syrians.

So far the Syrian civil war has cost that “nation” 200,000 lives and driven a million Syrians out of the country. As for the Iraqis, their military fled in the face of the ISIS forces, leaving behind the weapons we gave them. Between Iraq and Syria, ISIS now controls a landmass larger than the size of Great Britain.

In the course of the speech, Obama said he had dispatched 475 more troops to Iraq. We have an estimated 1,500 or more troops on the ground. That is barely the size of an infantry regiment, composed of two battalions of between 300 and 1,300 troops each.

Significantly, though, Obama opened the speech by reminding Americans that he had “brought home 140,000 American troops from Iraq, and drawing down our forces in Afghanistan, where our combat mission will end later this year.”

President Obama has announced he intends to send up to 3,000 troops to West Africa to help combat Ebola. He can find troops to put in harm’s way in Africa, but not to combat ISIS.

All he has ever wanted to do is to flee from our declared enemies whether they are al Qaeda, the Taliban, ISIS or other Islamic holy warriors. Those numbers signal his failure to follow up our sacrifices in those two nations.

Years after World War II and the Korean War, we still have combat troops in Europe, South Korea, and on bases around the world, but he is pulling out troops in the two nations where our interests are currently threatened. He called the enemy “small groups of killers.” He claimed that “America is safer.”

He appears to think the greatest threat of our time, the holy war being waged by fanatical Muslims, can be won with air strikes and measures that do “not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil.”

Fighting on foreign soil is what American combat troops did throughout the last century and into this one. They helped defeat Germany and the Japanese Empire in World War II. They stopped the communist North Korean attack on the South, but had less success in the long Vietnam War. They were successful in the Gulf wars until Obama was elected.

We have a President who has displayed a lack of leadership, a lack of judgment, ignorance of history, a cowardly approach to the threats we face, and who has demonstrated over and over again that he is a liar. His administration is likely to be judged the most corrupt in the history of the nation, indifferent to the Constitution and our laws.

Proclaiming that he “could not be prouder of our men and women in uniform”, this is a President who has engaged in dramatically reducing the size of our military to pre-World War II levels. After a two-star general, Major General Harold J. Green, was killed in Afghanistan in April not one single member of the White House attended his funeral. Obama was playing golf.

America must survive a man who many have come to believe is “the worst President” in our history. An essential stop toward that will be to defeat as many Democratic Party incumbents and candidates for office in the November 4 midterm elections. Americans—patriots—can do no less at this point.

    President Obama’s Accomplishments : Discuss
Since Ebola is in the news now, I thought it was important to know why this country is not ready. The failure is 100% on Obama.

In 2010, Obama administration scrapped CDC quarantine regulations
By Eric Owens · Published October 03, 2014

In October 2014, the first patient on American soil infected with the Ebola virus sits in isolation in a Texas hospital, prompting calls for travel restrictions between the United States and Ebola-stricken countries.

Meanwhile, four years ago, the administration of President Barack Obama moved with virtually no fanfare to abandon a comprehensive set of regulations which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had called essential to preventing international travelers from spreading deadly diseases inside the United States. The CDC had proposed the regulations in 2005 under the administration of George W. Bush, reported USA Today in 2010. The original impetus for the regulations was fear that avian flu would spread unchecked. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/...arantine_N.htm

The regulations proposed under the Bush administration would have granted the federal government a power of “provisional quarantine” to confine airline passengers involuntarily for up to three days if they exhibit symptoms of certain infectious diseases. Federal officials would also have been able to quarantine passengers exposed to people with those symptoms.

There was a fairly long list of diseases. It included smallpox, yellow fever, diphtheria, pandemic flu, infectious tuberculosis, cholera — and viral fevers such as Ebola.

Before the Obama administration withdrew the proposed new rules, CDC officials had emphasized that they would only invoke the involuntary “provisional quarantine” when someone exhibiting a set of symptoms refused to work with federal officials voluntarily.

The proposed rules also would have compelled airlines to inform the CDC about sick passengers and to maintain contact information about all fliers in case the CDC and other federal agencies need to investigate a serious disease outbreak.

Airline lobbyists vehemently opposed the regulations. It would be too expensive, they said. “We think that the CDC was right to withdraw the proposed rule,” Air Transport Association spokeswoman Elizabeth Merida told USA Today in March 2010. Merida also called the regulations “unprecedented” in terms of cost and red tape.

Civil liberties advocates also strongly opposed the CDC regulations. “The fact that they’re backing away from this very coercive style of quarantine is good news,” ACLU legislative counsel Christopher Calabrese said in 2010, according to USA Today.

Other critics suggested that air travel regulations make no difference concerning disease outbreaks. “They probably learned during H1N1 that this hope of preventing diseases from entering the country by stationing people at airports is unrealistic,” Jennifer Nuzzo of the Center for Biosecurity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center told the newspaper.

The H1N1 flu virus caused a worldwide pandemic in 2009.

The first man in the United States to be diagnosed with the deadly Ebola virus is Thomas Eric Duncan. He picked up the virus after traveling to Liberia in September. The State Department has dismissed calls for restricting travel from West Africa. “I don’t believe that’s something we’re considering,” a Foggy Bottom spokeswoman said this week, according to The Washington Times.

Florida Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson, among others, has a called for such restrictions. Grayson, one of the earliest proponents for federal action on Ebola, wants a 90-day ban on travel from countries where the virus has broken out. Other critics of the tepid Obama administration response have warned of “Ebola tourism.” The concern, as the Times explains, is that people will become infected with Ebola and come to the United States seeking its exceptional level of medical care.

Memo to Congress and the American People...
From our friends at Not On This Watch

This is huge. This MUST be investigated. And, fast. And, the questions need to focus on two words: WHY?! And, WHO?!

Why did this regime do this? And, who in this regime did it? Was it one person? Was it some panel? Some committee? What were the credentials of this person or panel or committee? What made them think they knew more than decades of experts at the CDC? The experts at the CDC who set up these quarantine regulations set them up before this regime took over. So, this regime had nothing to do with the formulation of these reasonable-in-terms-off protecting-public-health regulations. Now...go back to my key questions: Why were these regulations thrown out? And...Who threw them out? Who had the final say-so in this?

Point to keep in mind: This regime has substituted executive orders containing much more sweeping and restrictive power in place of this set of regulations.

Congress needs to hit this and hit it fast. And, We, the People, must insist on that. Our lives depend on it. This cannot wait. ~cj

252 Documented Examples of Barack Obama’s Lying, Lawbreaking, Corruption, Cronyism, etc

    August 29, 2013

The following is a contribution from Dan from Squirrel Hill. http://danfromsquirrelhill.wordpress.com

The original title of the article is “Obama supporters will go hysterical over this well sourced list of 252 examples of his lying, lawbreaking, corruption, cronyism, etc.” it’s lengthy, but is a ‘one-stop shop’ for all the dirty details on the Obama presidency. (up to the date of the article in August 2013 ... the list is much longer now - JR ) http://danfromsquirrelhill.wordpress.../15/obama-252/

Every President, every politician, and every human being tells lies and engages in acts of hypocrisy. But Barack Obama does these things to a far greater degree than anyone else that I have ever known of. His campaign promises were so much better sounding than anyone else’s – no lobbyists in his administration, waiting five days before signing all non-emergency bills so people would have time to read them, putting health care negotiations on C-SPAN, reading every bill line by line to make sure money isn’t being wasted, prosecution of Wall St. criminals, ending raids against medical marijuana in states where it’s legal, high levels of transparency. Obama’s promises of these wonderful things sounded inspiring and sincere. They sounded so much better than the promises of any other President. So when Obama broke these promises, it felt so much worse than when other Presidents broke their promises.

In the 2008 United States election, I wrote in Ron Paul for President. In the 2012 election, I voted for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. Those who are of a more leftist persuasion than myself might want to consider voting for the Green Party in future elections.

Some of the things on this list are major events that should scare the daylights out of any true liberal who cares about civil liberties.

Other things on this list are medium things that some Obama supporters may dislike, but would be willing to overlook in light of the things that Obama has done which they like.

And some of the things on this list may seem trivial, but I still think they are an interesting reflection of the kinds of policies that Obama supports.

Every claim that I make in this list is sourced. Click on the blue text to see the sources. I have cited a wide variety of sources, from right wing, to left wing, to middle of the road.

I welcome any comments and criticisms that you may have. If you say my list is wrong, please back up your claim by citing specific examples.

And now, on with the list:

Sadly it's our only choice. Bad or worse. There are those who start honest but the whole way of doing business is flawed. Plus add to that when a real average, honest citizen tries to run the Dems and Reps spend big bucks to prevent them from getting on the ballot.

    Dennis Miller:
“When Obama was inconsequential State Senator he voted ‘present’.
Now he is President & he is voting ‘not present’

    Sep 4, 2014

Dennis Miller is pretty funny and spot on here. We are not big fans of Bill O’Reilly but Miller is a good egg. Another funny part near the end is when Dennis Miller discusses Joe “Jar-Jar” Biden’s comment on “chasing ISIS to the Gates of Hell” when Biden was supposedly the only member of Obama’s cabinet to advise against killing Bin Laden. Also watch Miller’s reference to Biden playing Robin to Obama’s Batman for six years and now claiming he would do things differently.

Watch the video at link : http://www.theminorityreportblog.com...g-not-present/

Obama puts intelligence briefings at the bottom of his priorities.

Obama prioritizes: Golfing, fundraising trump national security
    By Ernest Istook - - Thursday, October 2, 2014

    ANALYSIS/OPINION:

President Obama gives higher priority to his two loves — golf and political fundraising — than he gives to America’s national security.
No wonder he complains that he’s surprised by so many world events, like the rise of the deadly Islamic State terrorists.

On average, it takes four hours to play a round of golf. President Obama has played about 200 rounds since he took office. That’s 800 hours.

It takes about 45 minutes for him to receive a national security briefing. Most days he skips those briefings — 58 percent of the time, in fact. So he’s spent about 700 hours receiving intelligence briefings.

Seven-hundred hours on national security, 800 hours on golf. Actually, the imbalance is even worse if you count his travel time to and from golf courses. National security briefings come to him wherever he is — they’re piece-of-cake easy with zero travel time.

Also, Obama has done about 400 fundraisers while in office. Typically they’re two to three hours each, and often more. So he’s also spent more time raising money at swanky events than in national security briefings.

Maybe we should ask intelligence and defense officials to double as caddies for the president, so they could brief him while he plays golf.

And maybe we could pay him extra to attend those briefings, so they’ll seem to him like fundraisers.

Thanks to the Government Accountability Institute, we know how often Obama has been playing hooky from doing his national security homework. For everyone who wondered why Obama so often claims he’s surprised by what terrorists do and what hostile powers do, now they know why.
