The taxes and "incintives" will begin to be taken this quarter ... but the vast majority of the benefits will not appear until at least 2014. Would you purchase a car under these terms. What would you say if the salesman had you sing on the line ... you begin making your payments but you can't pick up the vehicle for four years ??

Politicians are the salesmen, "healthcare reform" is their product ... FOLLOW THE MONEY...

Honestly Jolie, I don't have the time to go back an look up old posts. I'm working a lot more these days and don't come around all that much. I've had some very heated conversations with members on this board regarding health care for the the last year. A number of people here may remember. I know I've talked to Pepperpot about it as well as quite a few others. I've discussed the health care system here in MA and the good it's done for our residents, etc...
I will say this, as someone that has major health issues, I as a MA resident, never have to worry about my insurance dropping me nor do I have to worry about losing insurance if we lose our jobs.
Maybe if you search Commonwealth Connector or health care you'll find one of my many posts.
I'm not being snarky or anything, I just don't feel like rehashing or taking the time to look up anything.

No ... I wasn't intending for my post to be snarky so I don't read yours that way. s:

I do remember your posts about MA healthcare ... I just see huge problems in trying to implement the same on such a larger scale. The more money involved, the more hands in the pot, the more bureacracies and red tape ... leads to more corruption.

All government programs lead to corruption. They showed how Medicare has cost so much because of all the fraud. Fake companies billing for medical equipment that does not exist. Just set up a store front and start raking in the money.

That doesn't help anyone except the thieves.

Absolutely. Even hospitals around here have a sliding scale. Back years and years ago, when our 40 year old was not quite 4 years old, my husband had a crappy job, low paying and no benefits. He had an appendicitis attack and very nearly died. His hospital bill was paid in full by some program through the welfare office. They still have the program or at least one like it because I have seen signs in hospitals that if a person within a certain percentage of the proverty level, you can get free or reduced priced care.

yep nightrider, many many programs that go on your income, and free health clinics every where, even here the OSU medical hospital, gives treatment on a sliding scale. And also the free care to some extents at the health departments, I'm curious, does it mean that these programs will be shut down, or just begin to charge with the health insurance that we will be forced to purchase?

Joe Biden introduced President Obama today at a get-together that was hopefully more of a mass political funeral visitation than a health care bill signing ceremony, but in any case, Biden proved he’s still in “stand-up comic” mode when he reminded Americans that further debt and loss of freedom will make everybody richer:

In his opening remarks, Vice President Joe Biden noted that the Roman poet Virgil wrote that “health is wealth” — and that the signed law would make “Americans a lot more wealthy.”
The government is going to hire thousands and thousands of extra IRS agents to enforce this blessed health care bill. I feel richer already!

And since health is wealth I’m assuming that Americans can now pay their taxes in avacados and wheat germ.

    --

As Biden introduced Obama at the bill signing, an open mic caught Joe telling the president, “This is a big f-ing deal.”

They're going to hire thousands of IRS agents? Cool, maybe I'll apply then we won't be homeless, jobless, without insurance, and stranded in Europe come June. How is the creation of thousands of jobs a bad thing? For that matter, how is your adult child being able to stay on your policy until they are 26 or a child's preexisting conditions not being allowed to come into play a bad thing? How is making insurance companies put 80% of money towards health care instead of a new jet for the CEO a bad thing? Adults will have to wait a while for the real benefits to kick in. For now, though, the children will benefit. Isn't the right all about helping the innocent? Or do children suddenly lose that innocence once they are born?
