Is Alan Grayson the Democrats Joe Wilson

Is Alan Grayson the Democrats' Joe Wilson?

Wed Sep 30, 5:32 pm ET

Tuesday night, Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida, a Democrat representing the state's 8th district, which includes the cities of Orlando, Eustis and Ocala, took to the floor of the House of Representatives armed with an easel and three posters to deliver his interpretation of the Republican's health care reform plan. Printed on the three posters were the individual points of the "very simple" Republican plan, according to Rep. Alan Grayson. They were:

    1. Don't Get Sick 2. And If You Do Get Sick ... 3. Die Quickly

Needless to say, Rep. Grayson's biting floor speech didn't go over well with the Republicans in the House, reminding some political observers of Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's recent address to Congress. Longtime Republican Congressman Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee called the outburst by the freshman representative "the most mean-spirited partisan statement that I've ever heard made on this floor," adding that he personally didn't "appreciate it." Others demanded an apology from Rep. Grayson, who has so far refused to apologize, unlike Wilson, who issued an apology soon after interrupting the president's speech. However, unlike Joe Wilson, who serves a heavily conservative district in South Carolina, Rep. Grayson's actions may not sit well with constituents in a district that, despite swinging toward Obama in 2008, voted overwhelmingly for George W. Bush in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections.

According to the bio on his website, Rep. Grayson grew up in the tenements of the Bronx and put himself through Harvard working as a night watchman and a janitor, graduating at the top of his class as a Phi Beta Kappa honoree. After finishing law school and embarking on a legal career, Grayson started a telecom/Internet business, IDT Corp, that grew into a $2-billion a year, Fortune 1000 public corporation. Rep. Grayson's familiarity with the online world led Marin Cogan of The New Republic to label him "the blogosphere's man in Congress," and predicted that he'd be "the first member to bring the blogosphere's in-your-face style to Capitol Hill." Accordingly, he'd already begun to establish himself as a politician who doesn't hold back with his thoughts and opinions, having recently called conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh a "has-been hypocrite loser."

As one would easily expect, in response to Rep. Grayson's remarks the other night, the National Republican Congressional Committee has already posted an anti-Grayson spot on YouTube titled, "I'm Not Prepared to Say That." And Wednesday night, Rep. Grayson, along with a few other congressional Democrats, is scheduled to attend the premiere of controversial filmmaker Michael Moore's latest production, "Capitalism," which will surely enhance his standing as a new bogeyman for Republicans.

We were unable to learn if Rep. Grayson's controversial statements led to a Joe Wilson-esque spike in political contributions, as Yahoo! News' attempts to reach either the congressman or his spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful, just as a staffer in Washington office suggested they might be when he said, "They're both going to be extremely difficult to reach today."

All I can say is I can't wait for this loo loo to come up for reelection. I will be standing on a street corner with his opponents sign begging people to vote the idiot out. If I get one more of his robocalls or unsolicited e-mails (at work no less) I will probably go off on his office staff really really bad.

Well if one should apologize for bad decorum both should. Funny you don't see the Democrats calling for one of their own to apologize. Imagine that. Gotta love the double standards.

And he was talking about the Republicans not wanting to give people healthcare. The Democrats didn't either till Obama decided to do it.

LOL, Obamacare takes away the old folks medicare advantage program and will make them go on another program that gives them less, much less. I would say the Dems are telling old folks to die quickly but then some will deflect what they are doing by saying others are doing it.

What Joe Wilson said was true but he did say it in the wrong place. What this other guy is saying is not true unless he means Obamacare.

One guy saying something during a speech he is giving while he has the floor is the same as another person interrupting the President of the United States when he is addressing a joint session of Congress? Not even a little bit close.

As for not wanting to give people health care, Dems have been trying to come up with a workable plan since Clinton was in office. That was one of Hilary's big issues.

    It does? Proof please.

What Joe Wilson said was wrong, extremely rude, and false. What this guy is saying may not be true but if it's not, let's see some examples of a Republican plan that will give people the ability to see a doctor. So far all I hear is whining and crying that if we give people health care then 30 million more people will be going to the doctor (like that's a bad thing? :confused ) As it stands right now, I think he's right on the money. I haven't heard of a Republican health care idea that didn't amount to "Don't get sick if you don't have insurance." If there is a real plan out there I'd love to hear it.

Go to gop.gov The plan is posted but Dems want to ignore it. Of course, they will say it is a lousy plan, they want their plan.

Go to dickmorris.com to see how Obamacare is taking away form medicare and changing it over to another lousy program just because AARP sells the lousy program and can make money off the old people. One does need to read more than half of the bill before you come to that part.

Obama forgot the old folks are 25% of his constituents who voted for him. They won't make that mistake again.

As far as covering illegals, the Dems are now saying they will include them. Guess they knew it would be found in the bill so why not come out and admit to it.

Here I did it for you.

Sorry, meant to expand on this earlier. The Dems have been concerned about public health care since Clinton was in office. It's the Republicans who didn't care until Obama decided to do it. Now suddenly they "have a plan". Where was this plan over the past 8 years? If it's such a good plan why didn't they try to pass it - or anything at all related to public health care - when we had a Republican Congress, Republican Senate, and Republican President?

Because contrary to the party line of Dems the GOP does not believe in taking over people's lives and telling them what to do, when to do it, and who to do it with. They figure people are smart enough to handle their own lives. Make sure businesses, etc. do not cheat folks but let the free market take care of prices, etc.

Now the Dems want to fine people for being overweight or smoke. Raise their kids for them and be our sugar daddy with tax payer money. It keeps them in power since some people think they need big government to run their lives.

Except when it comes to who they marry. Sorry but you cannot say Republicans do not believe in running people's lives and telling them what to do and then turn around and try to legislate what they do in their own home with the consenting adult of their choice.
