Facebook Has Just Decided to Block a Graphic Video of a Woman’s Beheading After Initially Refusing to Do So

    May. 1, 2013 3:12pm ~ Liz Klimas

An extremely graphic video showing a woman being decapitated with a knife by a masked man has for the last few days been spreading on Facebook. And although according to Facebook’s current policy the video doesn’t violate graphic content restrictions, the social media site has decided to remove all reported instances as it evaluates the situation.

According to one user sharing the video, the woman is being killed for cheating on her husband.

Joe Newby, who writes for the Spokane Conservative Examiner, reported Facebook spokesman Fred Wolens initially saying the graphic content was allowed to remain on the site because it was being shared in order to condemn it.

“Just as TV news programs often show upsetting images of atrocities, people can share upsetting videos on Facebook to raise awareness of actions or causes. While this video is shocking, our approach is designed to preserve people’s rights to describe, depict and comment on the world in which we live,” Wolens said, according to Newby.

Facebook’s policy regarding graphic content states:

People use Facebook to share events through photos and videos. We understand that graphic imagery is a regular component of current events, but must balance the needs of a diverse community. Sharing any graphic content for sadistic pleasure is prohibited.
But in an emailed statement to TheBlaze, a Facebook’s spokeswoman wrote the site has now decided it will “remove instances of this video that are reported to us while we evaluate our policy and approach to this type of content.”

Last year, an allegedly leaked guidebook from a third-party who claimed to review Facebook content for policy violations said content that would violate guidelines included those that showed human bodily fluids, like urine, vomit, feces, semen, pus and ear wax. But the guidebook also showed that the policy allowed “crushed head, limbs, etc …as long as no insides are showing.”

The Facebook post of the video we found had been liked more than 2,500 times and shared nearly 18,000 times. But the Daily Kos pointed out that another version was liked more than 6,000 times and shared more than 40,000 times.

Before Facebook agreed to remove the graphic video, it was being petitioned to do so by many. One on the website GoPetition has nearly 170 signatures. Celia Mellow who started the petition wrote:
The thought of my 13 year old sister being able to watch that video horrifies me! I came across the video after I watched my close friends face turn from a mixture of horror and disgust to uncontrollable sobbing when she had found it on her news feed and started to watch it whilst I was still on webcam to her. I was also able to access this video and only managed to watch half of it before feeling faint, sick and tearful …

    [...]

My friends and I are all shocked from the graphic horror displayed on our Facebook news feeds. Children as young as 13 are allowed to sign up for Facebook accounts, if Mark Zuckerberg himself saw what was posted on his successful website then I’m sure he’d feel the same way as I do about this situation. This may be a spark of terrorism and there may be more and worse to come on more and more social networking websites.
The BBC also reported organizations calling for Facebook to remove the video:
US’s Family Online Safety Institute told the BBC the graphic nature of the violence involved meant that the material had “crossed a line”.

“Personally and professionally I feel that Facebook has got this call wrong,” said Stephen Balkam, the organisation’s chief executive.

Charities in the UK have also called on the social network to reconsider its stance saying the material could cause long-term psychological damage.
It is unclear if the video is real, but some commenters have said they don’t think it is fake, even watching it multiple times to confirm.

Some might question why Facebook would initially allow such a violent video when it has recently taken measures to do things like shut down some gun pages for violating its policies with posts that allegedly “promote the sale or use of weapons, ammunition, or explosives.” Facebook has also recently been accused of knocking a woman off the site for 30 days for a policy-violating post made by another user on a group page for which she was an administrator. The woman said she believes she and the group were being targeted for conservative beliefs.

TheBlaze has decided not to embed the video due to its graphic nature, however we have included a link. But be warned, the video is extremely graphic. Clicking here will take you to a blog with graphic screenshots from the video and the footage as well.

    The real War on Women.

Saudi writer Abdullah Mohammad Al Dawood apparently pens self-help books … and reportedly uses Twitter to urge his nearly 100,000 Twitter followers to harass and intimidate female grocery clerks into staying home. Al Dawood’s tweets are in Arabic, but according to UPI, the misogynist claims his campaign is all about protecting women’s chastity. By groping them into submission. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-Ne...1651369841577/

Al Dawood claimed that Al Zubair hid in the dark one night and molested his wife in the street. The wife rushed home and decided against ever going out of her house again, saying that the “there is no safer place than home and the world out there is corrupt”.

Scores of Al Dawood’s followers supported his campaign and condemned the planned anti-harassment law, which comes as employers respond to government financial incentives to hire more Saudi workers, and in particular more women.

Saudi authorities warn of punishment for women drivers
Ultraconservatives in Saudi Arabia are pushing back with protests, threats
    ... and even a cleric’s warning that driving a car damages a woman’s ovaries.

1 day ago | By Rania El Gamal and Sami Aboudi of Reuters

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry has contacted organizers of a campaign to end the ban on women driving and told them they will be punished if they go on defying the male-only road rules, some of the campaign leaders said on Thursday.

The women organizing the campaign have been posting online footage of themselves driving in Saudi cities, and have called on Saudi women with foreign driving licenses to get behind the wheel on Saturday. The campaigners hope to take advantage of the ambiguous nature of the kingdom's ban on women driving, which is not explicitly enshrined in either the kingdom's Islamic sharia law or its traffic code.

Saudi Arabia frequently earns bad international publicity over the issue, but any change in the effective ban on women driving might ignite the wrath of religious hardliners.

On Wednesday the Interior Ministry issued a statement reiterating that it was illegal for women to drive, but the authorities now appear to be stepping up their efforts to quash the campaign by individually contacting women involved. "He said he was calling on behalf of (Interior Minister) Prince Mohammed bin Nayef and that I and any other woman should not drive and if we are caught we will be punished," said one of the campaign organizers.

The woman said she now planned not to drive on Saturday, although she still supported the campaign and had previously filmed herself behind the wheel in the city. Another woman involved in the campaign, who also asked to remain anonymous, said she still planned to go ahead.

The Interior Ministry telephone calls follow a small protest by a group of conservative clerics demanding government action against the women. One of them, Sheikh Nasser al-Omar, described the campaign as a "conspiracy".

A ministry spokesman could not immediately be reached to confirm that the body had contacted the women.

Women who have driven in the past have often been charged with the relatively minor offence of driving without a valid Saudi license, which are not issued to women in the kingdom. But some have also been charged with more serious offences, such as disturbing public order or staging political protests, which are illegal in the absolute monarchy.

The campaigners say that by driving on Saturday they will not be staging a political protest, as they have not asked women to drive together in groups or to congregate in one place, even if they are in violation of traffic rules.

    STERN WARNING

"The concerned authorities will enforce the law against all the violators with firmness and force," said Wednesday's Interior Ministry statement.

The ministry's spokesman, Major-General Mansour Turki, told Reuters the statement applied to women driving individually as well as in groups and that it was not meant to refer only to Saturday, but to women driving at any time.

He said it also would apply to protests by groups opposed to women driving. Turki said the prosecution service would decide whether to charge women drivers with traffic violations or more serious offences.

Officials have often in the past said the driving ban is in place because Saudi society wants it there. Supporters of Saturday's campaign say they want to show by driving without provoking public anger that society has changed.

They point to a recent move by some women in the kingdom's Shoura Council, a quasi-parliament appointed by the king to advise on policy, to challenge the ban, and to Saudi newspaper columns that argue women should be able to drive. "The government now is in an odd position. They aren't against women driving and yet they're preventing women driving. It's very awkward to be in this position," said Khalid al-Dakhil, a Saudi political science professor and columnist for the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat.

Brandon, you do realize that this is in Great Britain, right. They are coming into our countries and trying to tell us how to punish people. We have every right in the world recognize that Islam is a barbaric death-cult. Read the Qu'ran a bit and tell me that Islam isn't evil. I've known lots of Muslims, most are good people, but Islam is a blight on the world.

    ...

One thing many people dont seem to realize is it is none of our business what people do in other countries. Would it be right if they would come here and try and tell us how we need to punish people? I dont think so. Its none of our business what they do in their country. As long as they dont come here and do it then its not our concern. I dont agree with the severe punishment they do however I dont live there and its not my country. It dont matter what we think cause its not our country. We have no right going around the world telling people how to live their life.

Brandeis caves to Islamist pressure by denying honorary degree for Muslim women’s advocate
Written by Allen West on April 10, 2014

So many people come to America as the beacon of liberty, freedom, and democracy. Many come to escape persecutions from elsewhere. And such is the case for Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a woman who fled due to threats upon her life from a vile misogynist ideology that sees her as nothing more then property.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, writer of the film “Submission,” which criticized the treatment of women in traditional Islam, fled The Netherlands for her life after the film led to the barbaric murder of Dutch film director Theo Van Gogh. Ms. Hirsi Ali came to America because of the promise this country offers: freedom from persecution, freedom to speak the truth, freedom to express your thoughts. And at the one place where you would think those freedoms would be accepted and tolerated, an institution of higher learning, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is once again being persecuted. http://www.mail.com/news/us/2769766-...r-shaming.html

As reported at mail.com, Brandeis University has transformed an accolade into “a moment of shaming” by withdrawing a plan to give an honorary degree to a Muslim women’s advocate who has made comments critical of Islam, she said Wednesday. The university decided late Tuesday not to honor Somali-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali at the May 18 commencement after receiving complaints from some students, faculty members and others, including an online petition.

It is even more shameful that the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has launched a full-scale attack against Ms. Hirsi Ali to block showings of her documentary, “Honor Diaries.” So it seems the persecution Ayaan thought she was escaping has found a home right here in America.

We should be ashamed of ourselves. Where are Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and Sandra Fluke decrying a “War on Women?”

Where are the ladies of “The View?” What say you Ellen Degeneres? Cowards — cowards all of you and same for Brandeis University.

Ali, who was raised in a strict Muslim family, renounced the faith in her 30s after surviving a civil war, genital mutilation, beatings and an arranged marriage. She was a member of the Dutch Parliament from 2003 to 2006, has been quoted as making comments critical of Islam. That includes a 2007 interview with Reason Magazine in which she said of the religion: “Once it’s defeated, it can mutate into something peaceful. It’s very difficult to even talk about peace now. They’re not interested in peace. I think that we are at war with Islam. And there’s no middle ground in wars.”

Sounds pretty accurate coming from someone who has experienced the harshness of the “religion of peace.”

Brandeis, outside Boston in Waltham, Mass., said it had not been aware of Ali’s statements earlier. “She is a compelling public figure and advocate for women’s rights, and we respect and appreciate her work to protect and defend the rights of women and girls throughout the world,” said the university’s statement. “That said, we cannot overlook certain of her past statements that are inconsistent with Brandeis University’s core values.”

What pray tell are the “core values” of Brandeis University?

One has to ask if Brandeis would even invite young Malala Youfsazi to speak at the university.

It is certain that Brandeis University has acquiesced to the defenders of hate and the enemies of truth.

In her defense Hirsi Ali stated, “What was initially intended as an honor has now devolved into a moment of shaming. Yet the slur on my reputation is not the worst aspect of this episode. More deplorable is that an institution set up on the basis of religious freedom should today so deeply betray its own founding principles. The ‘spirit of free expression’ referred to in the Brandeis statement has been stifled here, as my critics have achieved their objective of preventing me from addressing the graduating Class of 2014.”

Yesterday we wrote about the formation of a Muslim political party and UN Resolution 16/18. http://allenbwest.com/2014/04/third-...m-brotherhood/ This is how it begins, incrementally, and slowly as we surrender they become victorious.

When tolerance becomes a one-way street it leads to cultural suicide.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, I salute you and stand with you, and will be a Guardian of the Republic in which you believe.

    ..

Brandeis University has transformed an accolade into “a moment of shaming” by withdrawing a plan to give an honorary degree to a Muslim women’s advocate who has made comments critical of Islam,
Had she made comments critical of Christianity - the Catholic Church - "Rich Southern, White Men" ... they would be awarding her multiple honors for her "bravery".

    ...

I have a feeling--and it's just a feeling on my part--that Brandeis was credibly threatened with radical Islamist violence if they allowed Ayaan Hirsi Ali to be honored. Brandeis University is located 9 miles west of Boston. They are the only non-sectarian Jewish-sponsored college or university in the country. Founded in 1948 (a memorable year for Israel), named for Justice Louis Brandeis, their colors are even blue and white. If my suspicions are correct, the university may be sacrificing their reputation for the safety of their students. Only a theory--but one that has more plausibility for me than the broad brush of cowardice. I wish they would honor Ms. Hirsi Ali. Maybe one day, if there is more to this than what appears on the surface, Brandeis will step up to her standard.

    ..

Brandeis University apparently supports the misogynistic oppression of women, stoning of rape victims, female mutilation, forced "marriage" of little girls to old men, domestic violence against women, and the so-called "honor killings" of women and girls. Interesting stance for an American university, but really not all that surprising. Any thoughtful person of good character would be embarrassed to be associated with a degenerate university like Brandeis. I would hope that Brandeis would divest itself of its investments in burqa factories and stone quarries. Most unbecoming.

Hirsi Ali is a courageous woman of principle, who joined the courageous Pakistani schoolgirl, Malala Yousafzai, in the recently released documentary, "Honor Diaries" which chronicles the oppression of women by misogynistic fundamentalist radical Islamists. CAIR has been trying to suppress the showing of the documentary on American university campuses, as they are very much afraid of the truth. I would encourage people to view the trailer and order the DVD, as it is quite well done and very enlightening

Pregnant Pakistani woman stoned to death by her family members
    Wednesday, May 28, 2014 - 1:05pm

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- A pregnant woman is beaten to death by her relatives outside a court building. Her crime? To elope with the man she loved rather than marry the groom chosen by her family.

The terrible fate of Farzana Parveen, 25, is one shared by all too many women in Pakistan and elsewhere. She was killed in the name of "honor," on the grounds her actions had brought shame on her family. "I do not even wish to use the phrase 'honour killing': there is not the faintest vestige of honour in killing a woman in this way," UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said in a statement condemning the killing.

Pillay called on Pakistan's government to work harder to stop such killings and protect women from violence.

According to a report published in April by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, 869 women in the country were the victims of honor killings last year. And activists say the true number may be much higher.

Parveen's brutal killing is all the more shocking because it was so public. She was beaten to death with bricks close to the high court in the eastern city of Lahore by a group of about 20 people, including her brothers, father and cousin, police said. One family member made a noose of rough cloth around her neck while her brothers smashed bricks into her skull, said Mushtaq Ahmed, a police official, citing the preliminary report into the killing. She was three months pregnant, he said.

So-called honor killings often originate from tribal traditions in Pakistan, but are not a part of Islam. Although they're common in rural areas, Tuesday's attack in a public area of a big city was unusual. Police officials said Parveen, who came from a village in Punjab, had refused to wed the cousin whom her family had selected for her, choosing instead to elope with a widower named Mohammad Iqbal.

The cousin intended for her husband was among the people who attacked her, police said.

    'Barbaric' attack

The family had challenged Parveen's marriage to Iqbal in the courts, accusing him of abducting her. The attack took place as she was on her way from her lawyer's office to the high court in Lahore, where she was expected to make a declaration that she had married Iqbal of her own volition.

One of Pakistan's leading newspapers, The Nation, expressed outrage over Parveen's killing . "The familiar brand of barbaric 'justice' yet again triumphs over the written law of the land," it said in an editorial Wednesday. "Another case is settled outside the courts. Another woman, in search of justice, stoned to death, in the name of honor."

Farzana Bari, a human rights activist based in Islamabad, said the real number may be far higher than the Human Rights Commission's official count since many families don't report the crimes. She said that in many cases, people outside the family don't step in to protect the victim. "I've seen in the past people stand around and watch, and don't intervene because it is a private matter," she told CNN on Wednesday.

"I think honor killing is very much part of our culture. It is a cultural form of violence which is quite prevalent in certain parts of Pakistan."

Honor killings happen more often in rural, tribal areas, Bari said, but urban cases occur too. Since many cases are not reported, police have no record and rights groups that try to document what's happening must do so through media reports and incomplete data. "There is no systematic information gathered in Pakistan that tells us the extent of the problem," she said.

    Impunity said to encourage killers

And the killers often avoid prosecution. Under an Islamic element of Pakistani law, known as the law of Diyat, the family of a victim is allowed to forgive the perpetrator, according to the human rights commission's report. "Thus the victim's family usually is related to the perpetrator as well, and conveniently forgives their kin, absolving them of the murder," the report said. That possibility of impunity has "continued to encourage others to follow suit," it said.

Bari gave a similar picture -- and called for a change in Pakistan's laws to protect women and the vulnerable. "Basically, the people have no fear of law because there is a culture of impunity and, as a result of that, people feel free and they can commit such acts outside the courts of justice," she said.

She blames such actions also on violent and extremist attitudes which, she said, drive people to act even if they are aware of the potential consequences. "I think we must generally reflect on the sick mindset of the society," she said.

Police said they had arrested Parveen's father, whose name they gave only as Azeem. They said he had admitted to the killing and expressed no regret. Search warrants are out for the other men accused of attacking her.

CNN's Sophia Saifi reported from Islamabad, and Jethro Mullen reported and wrote from Hong Kong. CNN's Aliza Kassim contributed to this report.

11 Year Old Child Bride Speaks Out

    Original video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3Yx7Yizxdc

    Published on Jul 23, 2013

"Nada al-Ahdal, 11, broke a longstanding tradition of child marriages after she managed to run away from her parents and alert the authorities. She then delivered a passionate testimony against the practice that is spreading across the web like a wildfire."*

Nada Al-Ahdal, a Yemeni would-be 11-year old child bride, escaped the fate her parents set out for her. Just because giving children away sexually to adults is a tradition, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Cenk Uygur discusses the young girl's impassioned plea opposing the tradition.

8-year-old Yemeni child dies at hands of 40-year-old husband on wedding night.

Al Nahar, Lebanon, has reported that an eight year old child bride died in Yemen on her wedding night after suffering internal injuries due to sexual trauma. Human rights organizations are calling for the arrest of her husband who was five times her age.

The death occurred in the tribal area of Hardh in northwestern Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia. This brings even more attention to the already existing issue of forced child marriages in the Middle Eastern region.

It is reported that over a quarter of Yemen's young girls are married before the age of 15. Not only do they lose access to health and education, these child brides are commonly subjected to physical, emotional and sexual violence in their forced marriage.

One of the main issues is that there is currently no consistent established definition of a "child" that has been agreed upon worldwide. This leaves various interpretations within countries and little protection for those who are affected.

Comments: Gulf News' denial is rejected by the Journalist concerned. Mohammad Radman, the freelance journalist from the Yemeni province who broke the story, insists the girl's neighbors told him she was "dead and buried."

"They are willing to give their testimony on this issue," he told Gulf News, adding: "I think the officials are trying to bury the story."

Moreover, two Meedi residents contacted by Reuters confirmed the incident and said tribal chiefs had tried to cover up the incident when the news broke, warning a local journalist against covering the story.

ISIS Terror Thugs Kidnap Young Girls for Sex Slavery.
The Despicable Way They Mark Them for Sale…

By Justen Charters 3 hours ago

A disturbing report has been released detailing how ISIS kidnaps girls and sells them like human chattel. According to ABC News:

A disturbing report has been released detailing how ISIS kidnaps girls and sells them like human chattel. According to ABC News: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headline...bducted-girls/

“UNAMI/OHCHR received a number of reports that an office for the sale of abducted women was opened in the al-Quds area of Mosul city,” says the report by the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Mosul is Iraq’s second-largest city, much of which is controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
How ISIS labels and prices their miserable captives for the unfree market is an appalling lesson on objectification:

*“Women and girls are brought with price tags for the buyers to choose and negotiate the sale. The buyers were said to be mostly youth from the local communities. Apparently ISIL [ISIS] was ‘selling’ these Yezidi women to the youth as a means of inducing them to join their ranks,” the report says.
In addition, the report indicated that around 500 girls were either given as trophies for fighting jihad or they were sold as sex slaves. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-1...s-un-says.html

One Yazidi woman who goes by the name of Sara, remarkably managed to escape the clutches of ISIS. She recounted how, before she and others were sold off, that they would do their best to make themselves “look ugly” for the ISIS terrorists. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...captivity.html

The Daily Mail reports about what the “going rate” is for these poor young girls at one of the depraved “markets”: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ties-Iraq.html

Islamic State militants have carried out mass executions, set up slave markets where women are sold for sex for $10 and used child soldiers in what may amount to systematic war crimes in Iraq that demand prosecution, the UN has reported.

It said ISIS fighters had committed gross human rights violations of an ‘increasing sectarian nature’ against groups including Christians, Yazidis and Shi’ite Muslims in a widening conflict that has forced 1.8 million Iraqis to flee their homes.

UN Investigators believe as many as 2,500 women and children have been captured, subjected to sex attacks and then sold for around $10 a head by extremist militants in Iraq.
Besides the horrors of rape and sex slavery, Sara said that her ISIS owner would force her to watch videos in which other Yazidis were being beheaded. Sara may have made it out of the living hell, but she explained that some girls can’t bear the trauma and suffering, so they end up taking their own lives. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...captivity.html

Since the Islamic State took over Mosul and other Iraqi towns, according to the Guardian, over 1,000 women and children have been kidnapped by ISIS. The Iraqi News reported Friday that ISIS raped 170 girls in Anbar province and 50 Yazidi girls in Mosul. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...e-9752220.html

When Yazidi stateswoman Vian Dakheel was asked how to resolve the crisis, she said that western military intervention needs to be used. And Dakheel also wanted publicity from First Lady Michelle Obama ,in the same way she helped raise awareness for the kidnapped girls by Islamic Militant group Boko Haram in Nigeria.

Fortunately, even some people living in the Islamic State are risking their lives to buy women and smuggle them out. However, if they get caught by ISIS, they are put to death. This is a real “war on women.” http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/2...plead-for-help

‘Justice’ in a ‘Moderate’ Muslim Nation: Woman Beheaded in Broad Daylight While Police Watch
By Jason DeWitt on January 17, 2015

In this graphic video taken in Saudi Arabia near the city of Mecca, a woman is punished for having committed what her husband alleges is the murder of his 7-year-old daughter. She denied the crime.

The convicted woman, identified as foreigner Lalia bint Abdul Muttablib Basim of Myanmar, was dragged down the street by four police officers as she pleads for her life. She is then beheaded in the middle of a crosswalk.

“I did not commit the murder! I did not commit the murder,” Walid Shoebat translates the woman cried. http://shoebat.com/2015/01/15/video-...t-public-view/

“I will not forgive you! This is injustice,” she repeats before an Islamic executioner carries out her death sentence.

It is not known whether or not she was afforded the “due process” to which we in the West are accustomed during her defense. But I wouldn’t bet on it: the Saudi justice system is typically discriminatory against female defendants.

That is because, in the Koran, the Muslim “holy” book, the testimony of a woman is worth only 1/5th that of a man. And so Sharia Law is the basis for “justice,” even in so-called “moderate” Muslim states like Saudi Arabia, a U.S. ally and one of the worst nations in the world for women’s rights. http://www.hrw.org/world-report-2012...2-saudi-arabia

Even more disturbing, large majorities of Muslims worldwide accept “honor killings” of women for sexual offenses, as well as the death penalty for those that leave the religion of Islam (“apostasy”). http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...-and-4-charts/

Saudi Arabia is far from an outlier when it comes to how brutally justice is carried out for those who are believed to have committed sins against Islam or capital crimes like murder.

If the husband had been accused of the murder of his seven year old daughter, he would have been excused if he could justify it as an "honor killing", if the mother could have even gotten a hearing at all.
