A few give Pennsylvania a REALLY bad name
Ok, we encountered a few on BBS from Pennsylvania that were WAY OUT THERE, if you kwim...
and along comes another story out of Pennsylvania that really makes you wonder about the mentality of some of the state's residents -- not saying all PA residents are bad, but there are more than just a few who are WAY OUT THERE.

Phila. man shot because family talked during movie
James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of the 1900 block of Hollywood Street is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations for allegedly shooting a guy who talked through a movie.
A South Philadelphia man enraged because a father and son were talking during a Christmas showing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button took care of the situation when he pulled a .380-caliber gun and shot the father, police said.
James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of the 1900 block of Hollywood Street is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.
"It's truly frightening when you see something like this evolve into such violence," said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore.
Police were called to the Riverview Theatre in the 1400 block of Columbus Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. where the gunshot victim, a Philadelphia man who was not identified, told police a man sitting near him told his family to be quiet and threw popcorn at his son.
After exchanging words, Vanore said Cialella allegedly got out of his seat to confront the family when the father got up to protect them. That's when the victim was shot once in the left arm, sending others in the theatre running to safety.
Cialella then sat down to watch the movie. Police arrived a short time later and arrested Cialella and confiscated his weapon, Vanore said.

But you have to realise, Philly is like a state within a state. The people there are totally different than the rest of the people in Pennsylvania, so I dont think this one counts, lol. It sounds to me like a hoodlum, I bet he has a rap sheet a mile long.

Another storry?? What were the other stories that make you think that about Pennsylvanians?? There are wackos in EVERY state. One article doesn't speak for the whole state.
I don't think the entire state of California is mentally unstable, because of what happened with that 'Santa Clause' shooting.

According to this logic... everyone from CA is a flake, a nut, or wacked out Liberal ( as oppposed to normal everyday Liberals ); everyone from FL is old, a nut, or a flake; and everyone from DC, LA and TN is a crooked politician ...
oh... nevermind ....

You know, I know the few you are refering to regarding being located in Pennsylvania, but I really do take offense to the generalization. One was from the Scranton area, others from the Pittsburgh area. I take offense because I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I lived there until I got married and moved to where the Air Force sent us.
Pennsylvania is a beautiful state. It is rich in history state wide. I still consider Pennsylvania my "home", even after living elsewhere for 21 years.
You run across these sorts of stories from ALL OVER - not just Pennsylvania! The Santa story is a prime example in the news recently. Had it not been Christmas, the Philly story probably wouldn't have made nationwide news. What about all those whacked out stories posted in the news section - I would guess that those are from all over the nation - not just Pennsylvania.
Yes, I did read all your words - they are still offensive due to the generalization. There are people EVERYWHERE that are "way out there".

I agree every state has their "weirdo's". Take Houston or Texas.....where I live. We have Clara Harris, Andrea Yates, Ken Lay...that's just to name a few. I could go on and on about horrible things that have gone on here.
Name for a new country song: If I'd Shot You Sooner, I'd Be Out of Jail by Now.
