Farmer Wins Right to Display Anti-Obama Signs On His Own Property
    Via CNSnews - http://bit.ly/10NFeAO

Michigan farmer Vern Verduin has won the right to display signs critical of Obama no his property - after local township officials took him to court in an effort to force him to remove them.

Michigan farmer Vern Verduin has won the right to display signs critical of Pres. Obama - on Verduin's own truck and property - after Gaines Township officials took him to court in an effort to force him to remove them.

In response to First Amendment arguments raised by The Rutherford Institute, a state district court has dismissed charges against the Michigan cattle farmer who was cited and fined for displaying political banners critical of the Obama administration on a farming truck parked on his private 40-acre lot.

The banners mounted by Vern Verduin on his farm truck read:
    • "Marxism/Socialism = Hunger and Poverty" and
    • "Obama's 'Mission Accomplished,' 8% Unemployment, 16 Trillion Debt

Verduin, Gaines Township officials alleged that his political banners violate the township's sign ordinance, which allows only business-related signs on vehicles, restricts the size to no more than 20 square feet, and limits the time period for displaying political signs from 45 days before an election to ten days past an election.

But, Judge Steven Servaas of the 63rd District Court found the sign ordinance for the Gaines Township to be unconstitutional, agreeing with The Rutherford Institute's arguments that the ordinance violated the First Amendment because it treated commercial speech and advertising more favorably than political speech.

In September 2012, Gaines Township officials ordered Vern Verduin, who owns and operates a 40-acre cattle farm, to take down two political banners displayed on one of his farming trucks, which was parked on his private property.

Standing firm in his free speech rights and insisting that politics is a year-round discussion, Verduin continued to display the political banners and signs on his private property.

A group of students have been suspended for wearing confederate flags.

Students Suspended For Wearing Confederate Flags To Protest Gay Rainbow Flag

At Tahoma High School in the nether suburbs of Seattle, it’s totally okay to display a gay-pride flag, but two juniors were suspended for three days for wearing Confederate flags at school.

An unnamed school district spokesman said that a sophomore had been exhibiting a gay-pride flag at Tahoma High for the last two weeks, reports local CBS affiliate KIRO. When the two juniors showed up on Tuesday in a common area wearing the Confederate flags as a political statement in response, they were suspended.

School officials said the Confederate flags caused a disruption because some students were upset. The officials added that the garb was an undisclosed violation of the Tahoma High dress code.

At least one of the unidentified, Confederate flag-wearing students wore the controversial symbol around his neck in some fashion.

Local residents supported the school’s decision, according to KIRO. “I can see where we wouldn’t okay that,” said concerned aunt Tiki Scroggins, who was at at school to pick up her nephew. “There’s too many ethnic backgrounds that that could offend.”

So we are concerned with those who might be offended by a Confederate Flag tshirt... but not worried at all about those who might be offended by the Gay Pride Flag t-shirt ?? No double standard here....

White House official fired over anonymous tweets
Jofi Joseph was director of nuclear non-proliferation on the White House National Security Council staff, but sent hundreds of anonymous and abrasive tweets.

14 hr ago |By Roberta Rampton and Steve Holland of Reuters

WASHINGTON — A senior White House official who was helping negotiate nuclear issues with Iran has been fired after being unmasked as the acidic voice behind a Twitter account known for its insults of public figures at the White House and on Capitol Hill, a government official said on Tuesday.

Jofi Joseph was director of nuclear non-proliferation on the White House National Security Council staff, but for more than two years sent hundreds of anonymous and abrasive tweets using the handle @NatSecWonk.

He was fired last week after he was caught, the official said.

A White House official confirmed Joseph no longer worked there, but would not comment on personnel matters. The firing was first reported by the website Daily Beast.

In his Twitter biography, now removed from the social networking site, Joseph described himself as a "keen observer of the foreign policy and national security scene" who "unapologetically says what everyone else only thinks."

As the widely followed @NatSecWonk, Joseph speculated anonymously about the political motives and career moves of administration officials he worked with. They included Ben Rhodes, President Barack Obama's spokesman on national security issues.

This month, Joseph tweeted that Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, "had few policy goals and no wins" in the Middle East. He agreed with Republican Representative Darrell Issa, who has relentlessly pursued Clinton for administration actions after last year's attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya.

"Look, Issa is an ass, but he's on to something here with the @HillaryClinton whitewash of accountability for Benghazi," he tweeted.

He also sniped at U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power's use of Twitter. "Can someone again brief @AmbassadorPower that Bashar Assad likely doesn't follow her Twitter feed?" he recently wrote.

Joseph did not respond to phone and email requests for comment, but he told the website Politico he regretted his tweets.

"What started out as an intended parody account of DC culture developed over time into a series of inappropriate and mean-spirited comments. I bear complete responsibility for this affair and I sincerely apologize to everyone I insulted," Joseph said in an email to Politico.

He also targeted journalists, including Daily Beast reporter Josh Rogin who broke the story of his firing. "Just a hunch, but I have the sense lots of people would like to punch @joshrogin in the face," he said earlier this month.

Liberal Tolerance - Rage Explosion: Left Hosts Twitter Hatefest for Deceased Republican... 'F*ck Shirley Temple'

Yes, the Silver Screen child star was the subject of hateful tweets. R.I.P.

    Kyle Becker | On 12, Feb 2014

Child star Shirley Temple, all grown up at the age of 85 as Shirley Temple Black, passed away late at night on February 10th and the left-wing got wind of the fact that she was *gasp* – a Republican.

These tweets are truly indicative of the depth of rage leftists have for those whom they consider their political enemies. Feel free to shake your head at some of these real doozies:

    Andre Nantel @nantel

Saddest part about Shirley Temple dying: I learned on Wikipedia that she spent most of her post-acting life working for the Republican Party

    7:38 AM - 11 Feb 2014
You learned on Wikipedia that she was a Republican, and that was the saddest part of her death?

    Rick has a martini @RickHasAMartini

Well, Shirley Temple was a Republican.

I had no idea Shirley Temple was such a staunch Republican.

Farewell Shirley Temple Black..You were a cute, talented kid.

Sorry not that sad about Shirley Temple because she became a conservative nut bag.

It's sad whenever someone dies; but Shirley Temple was an Anti-Choice, Republican who wanted to abolish welfare.

Nothing says “choice” like ramming through a national healthcare law with a mandate over full party opposition.

    Damon Kruezer™ой @thekruezer

R.I.P. #ShirleyTemple an iconic image and brand as a child marred in adult life by her unfortunate right wing Republican tendencies

    9:44 AM - 11 Feb 2014

Oh no, they weren’t done yet. There are a few more saved as screenshots, and you can get those on Twitchy. But you get the point, the left will hate on anyone whom they perceive as their political enemies – even an adorable child star who just passed away after a long life making people happy.

Democrats: We care about everyone (except anyone who disagrees with us)

    ..

Liberal democrats, the true party of hate!

    ..

and they wonder why there is such division in our country. This woman was NOT an activist...just a conservative. That warrants hatred?? sad...very very sad.......

    ..

I know so many actors and singers I enjoy that are gay and/or liberal but I would not disrespect them when they die like these people. It would have to be someone really bad. Shirley Temple was not a conservative figure. Just shows that these people don't have any respect for an honest persons life as well as an innocent one referring to abortion.

    ..

Talk about idiots....these leftists are the most idiotic. Can't believe the tweet about her wanting to do away with welfare...OMG that might mean the libs would actually have to work for a living instead of living off of the work ethics of the Right.

    ..

I don't care if she was a republican or democrat. she was a person and a damn good actress. I think that is very wrong to treat her like that. she did a lot for this country and she will be missed.

Pro-Death Activists Create Wall of Censorship Around Pro-Life Display

Radical leftist activists crashed a pro-life demonstration at the University of Georgia and erected a wall of censorship around an anti-abortion display in order to shield the campus from the reality of abortion.

Justice for All, a pro-life group, erected an anti-abortion display at the University of Georgia on Monday. The public display contained graphic images of aborted fetuses.

To prevent members of the campus community from actually seeing the images, students from two pro-choice groups — the Women’s Studies Student Organization and Sexual Health Advocacy Group — stood around the display holding up sheets. The sheets walled off the display and kept the images out of the gazes of people walking by, according to Blake Seitz, a UGA student and contributor to The College Fix.

Danielle Duncan, one of the pro-choice activists, said the pro-life display constituted “hate speech,” because it could trigger negative emotions to people who saw it.

Can you imagine the Liber Press reaction if a group of ProLifers did the same to a ProChoice group ??

    ..

God forbid that you actually see the consequences of your actions!

    ..

It might caused negative emotions? You dumb broad, that was the purpose of the whole thing! They wanted to make people walking by and seeing it GET emotional about the fact that abortion is not as clean, or as quick and easy and harmless, as they are led to believe, and hopefully the graphic nature of the display would have people's minds changed on the subject. Hence a negative emotion towards abortion!
Oh but God forbid any pro-lifers try to erect a "shield" around a Planned Parenthood clinic, that's grounds for being arrested for defacing public property.

    ..

"...said the pro-life display constituted “hate speech,” because it could trigger negative emotions to people who saw it..."
Welcome to our brave new world where having a different opinion is considered "hate speech".

    - I disagree with the president: "you are racist".
    - I disagree with abortion as birth control: "hate speech!".
    - I want immigration laws enforced: "you hate Mexicans".
    - Entitlements are bankrupting the country: "you are heartless".
    - I support property rights: "you hate gays".
    - One should pay for your own choices: "War on women!".
    Etc, etc, etc...

    ..

If pictures of murdered babies are completely unconscionable, then why isn't actually murdering the baby anywhere near so bad?

    ..

SO IF "Danielle Duncan, one of the pro-choice activists, said the pro-life display constituted “hate speech,” because it could trigger negative emotions to people who saw it."

Then can ABORTIONS and Planned Parenthood advertisements and buildings be "shielded" from view since they "trigger negative emotions to people who see that" (KILLED BABIES)??? Let protest that!!

Opinion: I disagree with Adam, and you should too
Tuesday, April 1, 2014 7:21 pm Megan Dunbar

A student wears a shirt reading "I Agree With Adam," as part of a Christianity awareness campaign going on around campus.

Being worried about awareness of Christianity in southern Louisiana sounds like the punchline of an April Fools’ joke, but the more “I Agree With Adam” shirts I saw Tuesday, the more I realized it was a serious concern for a large group of people.

The whole campaign is based on some notion that Christianity should be talked about more, and Christians shouldn’t be afraid to show their faith.

Instead of this innocent narrative playing out, I Agree With Adam is a reminder that there is a group of people controlling most of the country who feel like non-Christians are missing a part of themselves, and those non-Christians need to ask the power-holding group what this missing piece is all about.

That’s pretty oppressive. Not violently, but mentally oppressive, and it already occurs on our campus daily.

You know those pamphlet-passing Christians who yell at Indian students about their heathen worshipping of Buddha, scream about women revealing their legs and threaten us concerning our lack of knowledge about life after death?

The Adam campaign concerns the same religion, and while the Adam-associated Christians don’t yell, their message-spreading tactics make it seem like a silent, impossible-to-ignore cult overtook campus this week, so excuse me if I react with a little sharpness.

Christianity runs so deep in our culture that it’s institutionalized. Those behind this campaign are mistaken in their belief that thoughtful Christianity deserves more awareness than it already receives.

If Adam followers want an open discussion about the religious hegemony, let’s talk about how Christianity still influences lawmakers — the woolly mammoth debate in South Carolina most recently. And many U.S. voters would still choose not to vote for an atheist president.

How about what’s printed on our money?

Let’s also bring up how no literature can escape a Godly interpretation in the English Department. This type of knowledge-based discussion of themes, however, is the kind of religious discussion I can agree with.

It’s a critical evaluation of the effects of religion on life, and that’s important. It can also spark discussions of the nature of religion and people’s personal beliefs, which is valid.

But this campaign doesn’t promote knowledge or civil argument. What we have here is a strong movement by one side forcing the other, historically oppressed side, to approach them.

And no matter how much good the Adam campaign members think they’re doing by being available to anyone who asks, being talked at by wide-eyed, evangelizing Christians isn’t something anyone should be forced or tricked into enduring. That’s what this whole campaign champions.

Apparently, Thursday is the day for answers, when Adam comes to campus, and I’m not looking forward to the escalated Christian propaganda that I’m sure will spread even further afterward, due to the amount of money someone has already spent.

In capitalist America, it’s difficult to ignore the implication this propaganda allows. Money means power, money backs Christianity, Christianity holds power.

Someone paid for the orange Adam shirts, the plane with an Adam banner that flew over campus Monday and the omnipresent Adam stickers. They don’t seem averse to handing out more materials.

I’d ask Christians participating to contemplate what they think they’re doing. I’m sure it sounds fulfilling and Biblical to passively evangelize, but the place it puts non-Christian students — and fellow disagreeing Christians — isn’t a sympathetic one.

In this way, it’s similar to the people yelling in Free Speech Plaza.

The only honest and open dialogue we need is Jesus Talks and the presence of nine churches less than a block away from campus. The resources exist, and everyone knows.

If students are interested, anyone is welcome to join groups run by the churches and attend services when they’re not attending class.

Christian propaganda doesn’t need to permeate our learning hours.

    http://www.lsureveille.com/opinion/o...a4bcf6878.html

I will agree with you that Christians don't need to try tricking people into approaching us about our faith, and that the "Adam" campaign is a passive way to engage people. However, I disagree with you where you say "The only honest and open dialogue we need is Jesus Talks and the presence of nine churches less than a block away from campus. The resources exist, and everyone knows." Firstly, not all students know of these resources. Secondly, telling students that their dialogue isn't needed because someone else already shares their common viewpoint with others would be like me telling an opinion writer that her columns are unnecessary because there is already enough dialogue on campus and in our national media discussing the same issues. The beauty of a public university such as ours is that there so many viewpoints on all issues of life, and dialogue is how we get to experience this beauty and learn, understand and appreciate other's values, beliefs, and experience. There are ways for Christians (I include myself among them) to share our faith in an honest, up-front, respectful, non-obtrusive way, and I hope that this column doesn't discourage you from doing that in any way. I am sure Ms. Dunbar doesn't believe that her opinions and viewpoints on Christianity are more worthy of sharing than yours, but she does seem to imply it with this column.
