Seattle Wage Hike Off To ‘Pretty Bad Start,’ Kills 700 Jobs
     October 26, 2015

Seattle, which recently passed a $15 minimum wage, has seen the loss of 700 restaurant jobs despite the rest of the state seeing huge increases, according to a Wednesday report.

In its report, the American Enterprise Institute looked at restaurant job growth in both Seattle and the rest of Washington. The state itself has gained 5,800 industry jobs since January. Seattle, however, lost 700 jobs in the same time. The state minimum wage is $9.47. Back in June Seattle passed its own minimum wage of $15 an hour. The city ordinance is designed to phase in over the course of several years. It will reach $15 an hour by 2017 for most employers.

“One likely cause of the stagnation and decline of Seattle area restaurant jobs this year is the increase in the city’s minimum wage,” the report speculated. “It looks like the Seattle minimum wage hike is getting off to a pretty bad start. Especially considering that restaurant employment in the rest of the state is booming, and nearly 6,000 more restaurant workers are employed today than in January.”

Seattle was the first place to pass a $15 minimum wage measure and became the first major victory for supporters. San Francisco and Los Angeles followed not long after and now many cities have either enacted it or are considering it. Some states are also giving the $15 minimum wage serious consideration. Currently it has not passed on the state level.

New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo first announced Sept. 10 his plan for raising the state minimum wage. If enacted, the increase will gradually put New York City to the $15 mark by 2018 and the rest of the state by 2021. Florida and Massachusetts have also began taking steps to pass it.

The impact minimum wage increases have on workers and employers is in dispute. Critics often argue increasing the minimum wage, specially as high as $15 an hour, will hurt the poor by limiting job opportunities. The problem is businesses need to offset the extra cost of labor by either raising prices or cutting workers. It is particularly troublesome for low-profit industries like restaurants who struggle much more to absorb the extra costs.

Supporters, though, say wage will help the poor by allowing them to afford basic necessities. The increased purchases would than stimulate economic activity. Fight for $15 has been the main advocate behind the push. The union-backed group has utilized rallies and media marketing campaigns in its efforts.

    $15 per hour flipping burgers

This is exactly what the left pushed for. Fast food chains were never meant to be a place for someone to raise a family of 6. They were to be part time positions with some full-time advancements. Mostly the fast food restaurants were for school aged kids, to learn how to interact with people, with a job, to offer spending money, and to begin responsibility learning for their future. The part time position was not intended to pay for a house, it is a stepping stone to move on...

    $15.00/hr x 8 hrs= $120/day x 5 days= $600/week x 52 weeks = $31,200/year!!

Of course when this happens, like it did today in Los Angeles , the poor and unskilled workers will go on unemployment, then on Welfare, and cost American workers more to support them.

McDonald’s recently came out with their answer to those that want $15/hr pay. Robots!

Many other food chains AND now RESTAURANTS alike are now switching over to kiosks/touchscreens to replace their cashiers, and servers too! For the same reasons as McDonalds is making this move worldwide, these businesses simply cannot afford to operate and pay your demanded minimum wage of $15 per hour plus benefits to their workers/servers!

Got any other bright ideas Mr. Obama?

Directly from YOUR rhetoric and demands against Americas private businesses, you and your minions just singlehandedly put 10’s of thousands of minimum wage workers nationwide on the unemployment line! In addition, Mr. Obama, YOU have caused these minimum wage jobs to be permanently eliminated and swept away from America's workplace FOREVER!

Neil Cavuto Tells Activist Minimum Wage Could Land Colleagues in the ‘Unemployment Line’
    Michael Cantrell - April 5, 2016 9:53 am

California, a liberal progressive wonderland, decided this week to boost the minimum wage to $15 an hour, despite the fact doing such will have an absolutely horrible impact on their economy.

In light of this, Fox News host Neil Cavuto had Naquasia Legrand on his show to talk about all of this, and boy does this exchange pretty much sum up everything we say about the lunacy of liberal thought.

    From TheBlaze:
Fox’s Neil Cavuto asked guest Naquasia Legrand Monday on “Your World with Neil Cavuto” whether the unprecedented hike is “too much, too fast.”

“Everything else is going up but our pay. And that’s why 64 million workers who are living in poverty decided to stand together to make a difference,” Legrand, one of the founders of the “Fight for $15” movement, said.

“For me to put back into my economy, I need more money in my pockets,” she added.

Cavuto then raised the issue of companies who have been forced to downsize due to economic struggles, noting that an increase in the wage they must pay workers might lead to even more layoffs.

“Don’t you think an environment like this might push them to do more of that? It could be so dramatic, so fast, that you won’t know what hit you,” he pressed. “And a lot of your colleagues you’re fighting hard to support, and get them higher wages, could find themselves out on the unemployment line.”

“Let’s just say this, Neil,” Legrand responded. “These corporations … know for a fact that they can pay us more than what they’re paying us now. They can afford it.”

Yeah. It’s quite clear that economics is not at all a strong point for liberal wackadoos, because common sense dictates that the less profit a business owner has to work with, the less jobs they can create and the higher the risk of layoffs.

See, this law doesn’t just effect the big, rich corporations, but the average small business man who just so happens to be who does most of the job creation and hiring in our country.

They don’t have the money to absorb an increase in the cost of doing business, so by passing a law that hurts them, it inevitably hurts the economy, and leads to more poverty, which is supposedly the very thing these people are fighting against.

    Will they ever learn?

there are some people you can never please ....or get thru to. if anyone knows someone who has gone thru med school, graduated and then went on to intern, ask them how much they make an hour - sad truth is that these young people have spent years in school and then take an internship to save our lives, work 60-80 hours a week and get a smidge above $15 an hour! someone ask Naquasia Legrand if she thinks that a person who rings up her drink at McD's should make as much as a dr who could save her life?!!!! it used to be that people starting out at a job was paid very little because the job was a stepping stone to getting jobs that paid more along with greater responsibility. people used to accept these jobs knowing that and they did not plan to spend their life doing those jobs. our economy is not great despite what that person who has an oval office thinks. in some businesses the greater expenses are salaries and benefits so logic should tell a thinking person that if a business has to pay more to employees, their profits would be less and if they wanted their profits to stay the same, the one area to change would be what is paid to employees. a person who starts a company takes all the risks and should imho be compensated for it should if be profitable. the employees do not have the worries and responsibilities of a company owner. some companies do make big profits and their ceo makes big bucks but that does not mean that the company should turn their money over to all the employees and if they think that then should the company lose money, should the employees help pay for the company costs? (i am sure they would not do it). i have a suggestion for people like Naquasia Legrand - for those wanting minimum wage to be 15 or more, they should get those who are capable of working to get a job and not take government benefits any more...or those working off the books to pay taxes. not everyone will be able to get a job, but there are some jobs out there. there are probably people who are working off the books and also collecting benefits. I like what Maine has done http://www.themainewire.com/2015/07/...amp-reduction/ This action probably has eliminated the ab]ility for people to collect from both ends.
