Alabama councilwoman: Holocaust memorial racist because ‘it is for dead people’
    — Video at link

    By Joe Newby - June 24, 2016
The insanity of the left seems to know no bounds. On Wednesday, Raw Story reported that Birmingham, Alabama, City Councilwoman Sheila Tyson tried to argue that a proposal to honor victims of the Holocaust is racist against blacks because it is “for dead people.” http://www.rawstory.com/2016/06/alab...uY4UNc.twitter

Sheila Tyson doesn’t want the city to pay $45,500 to remove existing buildings on the site of the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center, which has raised about $500,000 to build a memorial park alongside a 9/11 memorial, reported AL.com.

    “Dead is dead,” Tyson argued.

Tyson, who has previously asked the city to pay for repairs at the historically black Shadow Lawn Cemetery, said she didn’t understand why the city should help the privately funded memorial project.
“Isn’t it still for dead people,” Tyson said. “It is for dead people. Aren’t the people they are memorializing deceased?”
Yes, they are — murdered by the Nazis…

The city attorney tried to explain how the cemetery is a private entity while the memorial expresses the city’s remembrance, but Tyson countered with a series of factually inaccurate claims.

This is the oldest cemetery in the world,” Tyson claimed. “If this isn’t a tourist attraction I want to know what is. President Obama’s wife’s great, great granddaddy is buried out there.”
Raw Story said that it’s true Michelle Obama’s great-great grandfather, Carpenter Dolphus Shields, is buried there, but it’s hardly the oldest cemetery in the world. In fact, Raw Story said, it’s not even the oldest cemetery in the city.

“What’s the difference?” Tyson asked. “I see the difference. I know the difference but I will leave it right there.”

There’s video of the incident, courtesy of AL.com:
    According to Raw Story:

Councilwoman Lashunda Scales came to Tyson’s aid.

“I know the difference,” Scales said. “The difference is the haves and have-nots.”
City Council decided to table the issue for another week until the project’s developer could answer questions for Tyson and other reluctant officials.

And to think these people actually get elected to office…

The insanity continues: Now trees in national parks are racist

Forget peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Now, trees in national parks are racist and remind blacks of lynchings in the days of slavery according to Mickey Fearn, the National Park Service Deputy Director for Communications and Community Assistance (try saying that 10 times real fast…).

Keep in mind that Yellowstone, the first national park, was created in 1872 in Wyoming — several years AFTER slavery was ended. And the last time I checked my history, Wyoming wasn’t a slave state.

    Talk about inconvenient facts.

“African American people feel safe in cities and less safe in nature,” Fearn, who happens to be black, said. “Preserving wild places is a white concept, going back to Rome.”

What? Where did he get that from? Maybe he graduated from Portland Community College…

    Daniel Greenfield added:

So if preserving wild places is a white concept, then clearly national parks are just white privilege and need to be dismantled in a truly multicultural society.

Contending that black people aren’t visiting national parks because of slavery memories doesn’t make much sense at this latter date. And it doesn’t appear that other minorities are visiting national parks either. Asians probably don’t have memories of lynched in the wilderness. (Was anyone being lynched in the wilderness at all?)

And Canada, where Fearn had visited, didn’t have major slave issues, but also has low utilization rates by minorities. So yes, it’s clearly slavery.
But it gets even better, as WCBM explained:

Now Alcee Hastings, an impeached judge, and a coalition of minority groups is demanding increased “inclusiveness” at national parks. High on their list is the claim that, “African-Americans have felt unwelcome and even fearful in federal parklands during our nation’s history because of the horrors of lynching.” What do national parks have to do with lynchings? Many national parks have trees. People were hung from trees. It’s racial guilt by arboreal association. Trees are racist down to their roots.
    Rush Limbaugh added:
Now, why is it only trees in our national parks where there wasn’t ever any racism or slavery? Why is it only trees in our national parks remind African-Americans of their ancestors being lynched? Why doesn’t every tree remind them of that? You African-Americans in the audience — and I know that there is a beaucoup bunch of you out there — I bet you, not a single one of you has the slightest reaction like that when you see a tree. You talk about a constructed media narrative.

“What do national parks have to do with lynchings? Many national parks have trees. People were hung from trees. It’s racial guilt by arboreal association. Trees are racist down to their roots.” That’s the Alcee Hastings group. (interruption) Cut all the trees down? There aren’t any trees in the inner city, right? Many people thought that’s what was gonna be racist about it. (interruption) Well, I know a tree grows in Harlem. There are trees. But not like there are out in the suburbs and not like there are at the national parks.
Now trees are racist. I wonder how many are sexist or homophobic? Maybe some of the trees identify as other types of trees.

It just proves the maxim that liberalism is a mental disorder…

would some of these people prefer going back to their origins before there was slavery in america? problem is that there was slavery in africa before africans sold their own countrymen into slavery. should we condemn all ships...the oceans....the sky.....god......? I think i am going to see about kicking everyone off earth so that dinosaurs can once again inherit the earth and since they didn't scream racism, i guess they can start a campaign against species.

The American Red Cross issued an apology today for a poster that some people found offensive because it appeared to portray what appear to be white children as "cool" and children of color were "not cool."

The poster, titled "Be Cool, Follow the Rules" — meant to promote pool safety — labeled children as "cool" or "not cool" depending on whether they followed pool rules.

The issue that many pointed out, however, was that all of the children labeled "cool" were white, while all of the children labeled "not cool" appeared to be people of color.

This sparked outrage on Twitter, with one user tweeting that the Red Cross should "send a new pool poster" because the current one is "super racist."

The Red Cross responded on Twitter, and issued a full apology today, saying it is very sensitive to the concerns raised.

"We deeply apologize for any misunderstanding, as it was absolutely not our intent to offend anyone. As one of the nation’s oldest and largest humanitarian organizations, we are committed to diversity and inclusion in all that we do, every day," the Red Cross said in a statement.

The organization also announced it has removed the poster from its website and Swim app and discontinued production, as well as requested partner facilities to take it down.

"We are currently in the process of completing a formal agreement with a diversity advocacy organization for their guidance moving forward," the organization added.

In its apology, the Red Cross mentioned its campaign to reduce the drowning rate in 50 high-risk communities by teaching at least 50,000 children and adults to swim. "With this campaign, we are focusing on areas with higher-than-average drowning rates and participants who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to take swim lessons," the group said.

Black Lives Matter coalition calls for reparations and the end of mass incarceration
Coalition of more than 60 organizations affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement has issued a list calling policing and criminal justice reforms
The groups says it seeks 'radical transformation, not reactionary reform'
The move comes just ahead of the second anniversary of the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri
The death of Michael Brown touched off a wave of protests nationwide

    By Associated Press - 1 August 2016 | Updated: 12:00 EST, 1 August 2016

A coalition of more than 60 organizations affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement has issued a list of demands calling policing and criminal justice reforms.

The list comes just ahead of the second anniversary of the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri, that touched off a wave of protests nationwide.

The agenda, titled 'A Vision for Black Lives: Policy Demands for Black Power, Freedom and Justice' was released Monday by the Movement for Black Lives.

The platform also comes after both the Republican and Democratic conventions, during which Black Lives Matter activists were noticeably absent from protest lines.

'We seek radical transformation, not reactionary reform,' Michaela Brown, a spokeswoman for Baltimore Bloc, one of the group's partner organizations, said in a statement.

'As the 2016 election continues, this platform provides us with a way to intervene with an agenda that resists state and corporate power, an opportunity to implement policies that truly value the safety and humanity of Black lives, and an overall means to hold elected leaders accountable.'

The agenda outlines six demands and offers 40 recommendations on how to address them.

To address criminal justice reform, for example, movement organizers are calling for an end to the type of militarized police presence seen at protests in cities like Ferguson, and the retroactive decriminalization and immediate release of all people convicted of drug offenses, sex work related offense and youth offenses.

The group also is calling for the passage of a bill that would create a commission to study reparations for descendants of slaves.

This is the first time Black Lives Matter has articulated its demands and has faced pressure to do so.

The Black Lives Matter movement dates to 2012, but ignited two years later when 18-year-old Michael Brown was fatally shot by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, who is white, on August 9, 2014.

The incident — followed by other killings of black men and boys by police in cities including Baltimore and Cleveland — sparked racial tensions and weeks of protests that evolved into a national conversation about disparities in policing.

Fueled largely by social media, the movement has grabbed the attention of elected officials, including President Barack Obama — who has invited activists to the White House to discuss their grievances and possible solutions.

Their efforts also have forced the issues of criminal justice reform and policing disparities into the 2016 election cycle, and were credited, in part, with the ouster of district attorneys in Illinois and Ohio earlier this year.
