What do you do? (help w/ in store and manuf rebates)

Hi,

I was wondering what you guys do when you have an item that has both an in store rebate AND a manufacturer's rebate, both requiring the original receipt.

Any tips appreciated =)

Ask the cashier to print an another receipt. If you're buying alot wait and then buy the item that has two rebates. But in legal terms this is wrong since you are only allowed one rebate per purchased item. So you might want to ask if that rebate is worth getting into trouble over~Diana

It's not illegal. Some stores do it all the time. The day after Thanksgiving, for example. I bought a computer at Best Buy that had a store rebate and a manufacturer's rebate. I was able to do both rebates. The reason for the store rebate instead of reducing the price is because they are hoping you will use their financing and not pay it off with the rebates and they will earn interest from you. It's totally legal to do both rebates.

Well, according to OP, BOTH rebates wanted the original receipt. Therefore, what you are talking about is different. I, too, have done the store and manufacturer rebates when they are offered in conjunction (often Circuit City or Best Buy). But if that is the case, one (usually the store rebate) will say that a photocopy is acceptable or a second receipt will print out automatically.

So, I disagree with you. If both rebates ask for the ORIGINAL RECEIPT then I highly doubt that they are to be redeemed together.
