Need your knowledge
OK, I have heard this both ways, I'm going to pick the brains of all you coupon experts out there! If I have a coupon for $1.00 of 2 items and I also have a coupon for .50 off 1 item, can I use them both? I thought, no, but one of my friends says yes, because the .50 is off the 1 item and the 1.00 is off 2, therefore, it's off the second item. Anyone have problems redeeming them if you actually can use both?

Re: Need your knowledge
I've seen it work both ways. Usually it depends on the cashier...some of them act like you're taking money out of THEIR pockets when you use coupons...others congratulate you on your shopping savvy. I usually look for the cashier that seems the friendliest and head their way. After all, the company is going to pay as the items were purchased.

Re: Need your knowledge
You can use the $.50/1 for 1 item and the $1/2 for TWO items(for a total of three items). Is that what you were asking? Or are you wanting to know if you can use both of the coupons for only 2 items?

I tried to do this at Kroger when their wizard air fresheners were $1. I had a B1G1 & $1/1. The woman said I had to pick one to use, I couldn't use both. I told her I was buying two products & each coupon only saved me money off 1 product but she said I was trying to cheat them? It just depends on the store & the cashier. It's true some of them treat you as though you're the lowest type of criminal.... I'm just trying to save money!

Re: Need your knowledge
ethically, to use the $1 coupon (for 2 items) AND the .50 coupon (for 1 item) and get just 2 items would be wrong...you need to buy 3 items. But if the checker lets you get away with it.....
Now, I have done the B1G1 and used another coupon for 2 items thing and not felt the least bit guilty.

It realy does depend on the cashier but you can make them get the manager & usually they will let you use the coupons. I don't see what the big deal is ,, they get the money back & those mean cashiers that make us feel like we are stealing just for useing coupons ,, should learn to use them ! ! I have seen them embarass girls to death over the WIC stuff !

Re: Need your knowledge
Thanks, guys. Appears its up to the cashier? I usually go to the "self-serve" lines and at Albertsons, you scan in your own coupons and put them in a liitle slot right there at the self serve checkout.
Renee, you're right. Its not like everyone who goes grocery shopping uses coupons, so its obvious they have inventory to get he $$ back from the manufacturer's. Who knows, maybe we can find a site that has Legal Rules and we can print it out & take it with us!

Re: Need your knowledge
Look at the code on the coupons. If it ends in 76, then it will take $1/1. If it ends in 33, it will take $1/2. I posted a list a little while ago of all the codes in the coupons and how the computer determines how much to take off. (The list is nice when you have a coupon for something like $1 off 10 jars of baby food but you only really have to buy 5 to get the $1 off.)
