Cuttin' ' up more desks! Think I may have found a new addiction! Here's two we cut today! The top one would work as stand alone tables so we are going to push them together and simply make a more serviceable piece for your home.....the bottom one we stacked to use as a chest of drawers....would be super to use as a lingerie chest....the drawers I these old desks are soooo deep! Guess teaches needed to keep a lot of stuff in them! Can't wait to paint these two guys out tomorrow!

Some People Just Throw Plastic Bottles Away, Others Make This!
    The Mind Unleashed
    on 8 August, 2014 at 16:24

Soda bottles are very easy to find so why not do something creative with them? People are increasingly creating different ways of reducing the damage we are causing to the planet bringing intelligent ideas about recycling and reusing daily objects. Once again (and i’ve said this before) human creativity knows no bounds and with a little ingenuity, we can create beautiful things with the trash that we overlook everyday. Saving the planet one bottle at a time can be really beautiful!

Please SHARE these awesome ideas with your friends and family.

A Clever New Use for an Old Headboard and Footboard

If you happen to see old headboards and footboards during your trips to garage sales, you are in for a major find. Those headboards and footboards can be refashioned into chic and smart benches to suit any room in your house. You can use these benches in your patio to enjoy the outdoors, place them in your room to make a cozy reading nook or have them serve as an additional seat in your living room when you have guests.

Turn garage-sale junk into new cool furniture

Repurposing an old headboard and footboard into a bench is a great way to add eclectic new furniture into your home without spending too much. For this easy do-it-your-self project, you will need:

    An old headboard and footboard

    Pencil

    Circular saw

    Drill

Furniture dowels (available in many home improvement stores)

    Wood glue

Three pieces of 1” x 6” pine lumber

One piece of 1” x 3” MDF lumber

    “L” brackets

First, draw a line down the middle of the footboard. Saw along the line to cut the footboard in half. Drill holes on the newly cut sides to accommodate furniture dowels.

Drill holes at the sides of the headboard to correspond with the holes on the footboards. Connect the footboard halves to the headboard using dowels. You can also reinforce them with wood glue.

Cut the 1” x 6” pine lumber pieces the same width as the bench to serve as the seat. Secure them to the headboard and footboard using “L” brackets and wood glue. Then, place the 1” x 3” MDF lumber piece under the front of the seat to serve as its apron.

Seal the bench’s joints and cracks by caulking. Paint your new bench any color you wish. Once dry, add cushions and pillows to make your bench more comfy.

Place your new bench anywhere in your house and take a seat whenever you want to take a break.
