If you don't have a food vacuum sealer...

Since I am running with the whole concept of freezing meals, I was worried about being able to get all of the air out of the freezer bags when I was freezing food. I read that if you don't have a sealer, you can put the bags in water and it forces all of the air out of them. It worked like a charm! Just be sure not to get wanter in the bags. I had DD help me do it so that I could as close as possible to the top w/o getting water in the bag.

I also double bagged the food. Not sure if they helped any, but I sure wasn't taking any chances lol

You can get the air out of the freezer bag, hold the top of the bag together and insert a drinking straw in the bag suck out the air.It really works

I have a vac. sealer as well. I 'm not all that impressed. Unless i'm doing something wrong it never seems to get all the air out for me? Mine has been sitting in the closet for 2 years now.

Not if you are careful to get it out. I quit getting the "but mo-o-o-m, they're yucky" when I started doing that. Of ocurse it's lots of fun when I'm still half asleep sucking air and realize I've sucked into an apple piece and am trying my best to suck it up through a straw.

I always add a little lemon juice to the cut up apples,it doesnt affect the taste. A friend of mine uses unflavored vitamin C,it stops browning too and they get a boost of C.
