Thumbs up 2 free bids at rockybid.com

http://www.rockybid.com/users/register/cavebebe

Please feel free to use me as your referral (not sure if this post belongs here or in referrals - mods please feel free to correct me....I'm still new at this but this site was just 2 amazing to pass up. I got a laptop for 3 dollars!)

You get 2 free bids - no cc required!

Here is some more info about it....

I just found the greatest online auction site I have ever used, ever! The website is called www.rockybid.com and the way it works is almost magical. You can win stuff consistently for much less that what they cost. This woman won a Honda insight for $1.24 (yes a dollar twenty four) and it’s not a hoax, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHmGm_Xf_Gw

I’m not sure exactly how it works but this company is constantly losing money on certain products while making a bit more on other products. They only seem to list hot, popular items (stuff most people want). They have an excellent reputation and they ship fast. All their products are guaranteed.

You basically purchase bids and use them to bid on items (not with money but with bids). Each time somebody bids the item’s price goes up by $0.01 (one penny) until someone wins. These prices are insane, iPhones sell for a few cents to a few dollars, Garmin GPS for a couple of bucks, Acer laptops for $12-$15… and all the items are NEW. I really recommend you check this out.

The best part is that setting up the account is free and it takes a few seconds, you get 2 free bids and they don’t even ask you for your credit card info. Plus you get more bids for referring friends, so please use my username as your referral:CAVEBEBE (I’d really appreciate it).

Here’s the best part (no one else offers this), right out of their own FAQ:
“What happens to my bids if I lose and auction?
At RockyBid.com there are no losers. If you lose one auction, don't worry, you can use the value of the bids to pay the price of a future winning auction within 30 days.”

And you might think they make money on shipping, no! Their rates are pretty reasonable, pretty much on par with what most online stores charge. You can always get the exact shipping price of an item by clicking on the picture of the item.

One more thing, they have a point system just like my credit card. Basically when you purchase bids you get from 1 to 3 points for every bid you purchase (that’s better than most credit card rewards programs), and you can use these points to get gifts like TVs, Nintendo Wii or gift cards to Best Buy, Home Depot, Amazon, etc.

The whole website is so easy to navigate and use, I love it, I am so hooked already and I’m spending so much less than I used to

I thought it looked too good to be true, so I looked into it. This is what I found. You have to purchase bids. bids are from .75 cents - .67 cents a bid. when you bid, it registers each bid as a penny. For instance, I saw a garmin GPS. the bid was 6.38. sounds great right?? well, 628 bids at .75 cents a piece, is 471.00!!!! It had a retail price of 399.00. If you only placed a few bids, you got a steal, but if you needed to bid more than that it made them a ton of money. If I read it right, if you loose, you can use bids that you loose, to pay for an item you win, within 30 days. If it looks to good to be true, it usually is. This sounds really scarry to me. they want you to purchase bids, then to forget that you paid 75 cents for each one, but it only makes the auction go up a penny each time. I will be staying FAR away from this! If I misunderstood I apologize. Just my take on it.

From the Rip Off Report

https://www.ripoffreport.com/swoopo-...y-to-C79M8.htm

Swoopo and RockyBid are websites where you purchase the right to bid by buying blocks of bids at a cost of $0.50 to 0.75 a bid. You then bid on hugely discounted items such as laptops, Tvs, cell phones, etc.

Every bid you make subtracts from your account so there is a fee assessed that is not refundable if you don't win. Win or lose it costs you to bid.

The first deception is that as the timer counts down to the auction close Swoopo arbitrarily resets the auction clock to as much as 15 minutes so they can force more bidding. What they fail to disclose is that they will reset this clock as many times as they see fit so the auction may never end but yet you keep getting dinged for every bid.

The second deception is that they purportedly have shill bidders that are paid to sit and run bids up and perpetuate the auction and coincidently these bidders seem to win the auction more often than not.

By definition this is internet gambling because you have to buy bids and place them and win or lose your bid is paid. So it is a pay to play to win a prize which is by definition gambling.

Both Swoopo and RockyBid deny this of course since internet gaming is illegal in the U.S. and both are located in the U.S. Since the government has failed to do anything then let everyone beware that you will only lose your bid money on these sites. Both sites refuse to divulge that they use paid shills to run up bidding and they do not divulge that they can run an auction as long as they want by resetting the clock as many times and for as long as they want. This is not an auction - it is a fraud and a ripoff.
