I previously submitted a post about Applebee's but have since compiled a much larger list. Many of these are not just for active and retired military personnel, but all those who have served in the Armed Forces. Below is a list of which stores are offering what, and what they require for proof of service:
McCormick and Schmicks: On Sunday, November 8, 2009 we pay tribute to our veterans with a complimentary entrée from a special menu. Please present proper identification to your server when you are seated. Proper ID includes VA card, VFW card, American Legion card, discharge papers, DD214 or other Veterans ID . Please note that in an effort to accommodate as many Veterans as possible, many restaurants will not be able to seat parties larger than 6. For more information, or to make reservations, please visit

Home Depot and Lowes: Have advertised that they will offer all active duty personnel, reservists, retired military, veterans and their families a 10% discount off their purchases in honor of Veteran's Day. However, both companies offer a 10% discount at the majority of their stores YEAR ROUND....all you have to do is ask.
Colonial Williamsburg: Active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents enjoy free admission passes Friday through Wednesday, Nov. 6-11 in honor of Veteran's Day. On Wednesday, 11 November, Colonial Williamsburg honors America's Veterans with a procession down Duke of Gloucester Street, 4:30 p.m., beginning at the Capitol. The parade culminates in a public ceremony, with militia and cannon crew firing volleys in recognition of those who serve. Hear Colonial Williamsburg's Fifes and Drums, and speakers from past and present. For more information visit
