Free Recipe for a VERY low cost facial cleanser and scrub
Since I was just posting the mineral body scrub sample anyway, I thought everyone might be interested in a natural scrub/cleanser for your face that saves $$$. It really does GREAT things for your skin and contains naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids. Use morning and evening instead of your usual cleanser. If you don't have time in the morning, just use it in the evening. And you can prepare a larger amount for a body scrub too. ;o)

Facial Cleanser & Scrub

1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon powdered milk
warm water

Pull your hair back, then wet your face with warm water. In the palm of your hand (or a small bowl) combine sugar and milk with just enough water to make a paste. Spread all over your face and neck area and gently scrub for about 5 minutes, avoiding the eye area until the sugar has disolved. Then gently clean the under the eye area. Leave on face for 5 minutes, then remove with a warm washcloth or by splashing with warm water.

*Note: If you have dry skin, add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil to the paste.

Cool You are TOO cool, Jolie Rouge

You are amazing. I always enjoy your posts. Can't believe you thought to post this here. Good Idea! We are a "great" team here. The secret to this scrub is the sugar, as it dissolves.

The funny thing is I just saw an advertisement for Estee Lauder's new Crystal Glow Sugar Rub. Here is what it says:

Crystal Glow Sugar Rub - ONLY $35.00 for 17.6oz
A unique allover body exfoliant rub. Contains a buttery blend of sugar cane crystals and natural oils.

A 5 pound bag of sugar (another word for "sugar cane crystals") is around $2.00, get some "natural" vegetable or olive oil and you're set for awhile.

Thanks, you rock!

Thank You for the original posting , Star !
By the time I saw it in "freebies" it was already on page three, and it seemed like such a great idea. I have tried it, (being pregnant I am trying to stick with "natural" products,) and it is wonderful ! I was reluctnat to move it, (didn't want to step on any toes) but I made sure you got proper credit for your contribution. They have several other homemade "recipes" in "Arts & Crafts"; has anyone tried some of the others ? Cappacino007 has posted a few more good ones in "Freebies" - would anyone be offended if I "moved" them too(fewer threads to search in this forum) ?
Could also be a good gift idea - mix up some "home remedy" recipes in pretty jars with the instuctions included.....

Wink Nobody with any sense will mind

I didn't. I was sorry to watch it slide down the "freebies" board because I think it's great too. I am still exploring the other "non-freebie" boards, sometimes not too sure where to post what. So what do you think about that Estee Lauder stuff? Reminds me of the "fancy" spas who use kitty litter and call it "rare earth mud mask" or some other dumb name.

Yep, I know you have a "bun in the oven", too bad about that whole name stealing thing. Some people have NO imagination of their own.
