Materials needed (for each one)
Metal Lid from frozen juice can
Hammer
small finishing nail
small piece of scrap wood
assorted colors acrylic craft paints suitable for outdoors
small round paintbrush
black permanent marker
16 inches of 16 gauge craft wire
several strands natural raffia
scissors
Finished size :about 2-1/2 inches across x 11 inches tall
Place metal lid on top of scrap wood. Use hammer and nail to punch a small hole about 1/2 inch from the rim of lid.
Paint appropriate item (daisy; tomatoe; oregano...) freehand onto the lower half of top of lid. Let dry.
Use marker to add label over the drawing.
Insert one end of wire through hole in lid. Bend wire to create loop and secure lid to wire. Gently bend wire, making a U near the end of the lid, leaving a long straight end that gets poked into soil.
Thread raffia through loop at top of lid and tie ends to create a bow. Use scissors to trim to desired length.
Tah Dah !
Lifted straight from the pages of "Country Woman" magazine, May/June 2001 issue Page 19. They actually have photos, too.
