Thought I would share what I do with all the old and broken crayons my kids collect. I am currently making some of these for my daughters kindergarten classmates.

Melt the crayons, I use a muffin tin lined with a cupcake paper in a preheated 275 degree oven. When they are melted, carefully lift the paper out and pour the liquid crayons into plastic candy molds. Let them harden and they will pop right out. To have them have them harden very quickly or if you are having problems getting them to pop out, just stick them in the freezer for a few minutes. I also sometime makes 2 colored molds. Just fill the mold 1/2 full, then when completely hardened, fill it up with another color. My kids love the different shaped crayons.

Well, that sure is a nifty and cute idea. I will have to remember this for future reference. Thanks!

oh the memories...

my grandpa used to decorate glass coke bottles, or vases like this:
he wou;ld gather all the different colors of crayons, melt the tip ( with a match or lighter) and then pressing it against the vase or bottle and it would leave a dot.... you can fill the bottle with diferet colored dots, or do a design... it looks pretty!

I have done that before also. It works great!! If you mix all colors it makes rainbow like crayons.
I used to sharpen them into a a small coke bottle and fill it w/ water. Makes like a colorful snow globe.

sorry...

sorry if I didnt make myself clear... you cover the bottle with all the dots that the melting tip of the crayon will leave... you dont fill the bottle up with crayons! it is sort of " painting " the outside of the bottle.. decorating it and it looks pretty, and kids with adult supervision can do it! you just heat the tip of the crayon, once it turns watery, you just press it against the bottle and it will leave a dot ( sort of like those bingo markers) if you dont like it, you can remove it easily and make another dot... you can make rainbow bottles, a special design or just cover the whole thing with only one color to decorate the room!
