I picked up a whole bunch of sand dollars at the beach, and am trying to think of something to do with them other than poke a hole in the top and use them as Xmas ornaments or frame them with the Sand Dollar Legend.

    Any ideas, anybody? Thanks!

I was going to suggest frame them with the Sand Dollar legend...LOL...

How neat that you were able to pick up a bunch. They are pretty expensive at souvenir shops.

Just a thought but you could glue them on the border of a nice mirror for a framed effect or use them on a picture frame with a picture of you and your family on the vacation. Or you could drill a hole in the middle and use them for cabinet or drawer pulls. One more thought is you could glue them to a shower curtain hook for a cute shower curtain decoration. If you have a fish tank you could display them in your tank. Hope that helps a little bit.

    Hi,

You could hot glue round magnets to the back for fridge magnets or they sell strips of magnets you cut to size, peel off backing and stick to shell.

Get a styrafoam wreath and arrange shells with dried seaweed or whatever else you like.

If they are small enough you could glue them to barrettes.

You can glue to a pillar candle and then dip into warm melted wax to cover shells lightly.

    hope this helps!

This is not the easyiest thing to do but you can take a picture of something or someone and apply it to the sanddollar and then put a clear coating over it and then buy on off the little plate stands. The first few you do you should try using a picture that does not mean anything to you in case you mess up. Good Luck

    THANKS!

You guys have given me some neat ideas! DestinysGrandma, I think I am going to do the wreath like you suggested - I live on the coast, so other ocean-related stuff shouldn't be hard to find, and I have 2 cross-stitch seashell pictures I could do and sort of do a theme with the whole deal.

    Much appreciated, everybody!

I meant attach it to a fake stem with a few leaves on it and it looks just like a rose and lasts forever.

    holy moly!

I need to check out where YOU live! My puny sand dollars are the size of silver dollars - not big enough for clocks!

    Unhappy My gramma use to....

Before she passed she lived in fla, used sand dollars to decorate their christmas tree it was so cute, also she would break them open I believe and use the lil star things inside and glue them to make designs in a frame.....
Look Insulin is NOT a cure!
