I was thinking the same thing. My husband gets mad at me because I flush them. He wants me to put them in the trash. I think that's disgusting. I couldn't imaging putting them in the laundry basket and washing them.

They can easily be 'packaged' and put into the trash....however, I would be mortified to have to call a plumber and for him to 'retrieve' the clog of a flushed tampon(s)....plus plumbers are not cheap.

They ARE biodegradable. Years ago, back when it was a huge thing for ppl to flush them, especially in older septic systems... I was living with my aunt and uncle and they had to get in the tank for some reason. We dug it up and pulled the lid off... there was nothing solid in it... no tampons no toilet paper. It's someones personal choice I guess if they want to flush them... but I hear more plumbers talking about having to fish out applicators and rubbers than tampons... so I think I'll keep flushing.

If they had their septic system pumped, the tampon would have been taken out.
I'm not taking any chances.

It wasn't pumped... I called them cause I couldn't remember why we dug it up... they were checking to make sure there were no tree roots in it... no pumping... but like I said, it is everyones individual choice.
