Thumbs up construction worker vest pattern

My neighbor is wanting to dress her son up as a construction worker for halloween but we are having a problem finding a pattern to make a vest for him. Does anyone out there know where we can find something.

Since those things never fit anyone very well I would think any vest (just outline it on newspaper - try freecycle, a thrift store/ young girls one would work too) or any commercial vest pattern would work - just add a few inches in length. I would just take a larger tshirt and outline it (without sleeves) to make a pattern of the back of the tshirt for the back of the vest. once that is cut out, fold the pattern in half and make a deep vee neckline and then cut the pattern in half so you have an open front. Round the front lower edges if using seam binding to finish
