What can I use my rose petals for when they dry up and fall off. I got a few roses from my kids for Easter and I hate to just throw them away. Any ideas would be appreciated.

rose petals can be dried and then used as a potpouri. To speed up the process - spread them on a cookie sheet (preferably the jelly roll pan type with sides.) Sprinkle salt over them and they will fully dry out within a few hours.
Another option when you receive roses is to enjoy them for a few days only, but don't wait until they have completely wilted. Instead, hang them upside down and wait a few weeks for them to dry. I tie them together with string and then hang them from the rafters of the garage. Others actually have hanging racks with pegs that they keep as decoration.
When roses hang upside down, they dry perfectly straight. They can be used in floral arrangements and will last forever!

just some clarification...when roses die, the scent doesn't linger very long. However, they can be added to other dried flowers to fill out the potpouri. However, I have found that I can purchase any rose scent cologne and add a few drops to the dried petals. Then the scent lasts for a really long time.
Hope this helps!

either take the petals when they are dried and put into a poupourri and then stuff poupourri into little lace bags with tied ribbons, or you can buy cotton croched lace doilys and crumble the petals then sandwich the petals into the center of the doily and take narrow satin ribbon and weave it through the holes in the doily to keep them inside. Tie the ribbon into a bow and leave long streaming tails or add satin ribbon mini roses, these make nice accents for a bathroom hanging on the wall or a small corner shelf, or you can put them in a bedroom as well. One of my friends made some up and then hung them in her kitchen like a border.

dried roses
I used to gather all the roses my boyfriend ( now hubby) gave me every time we would go out... hang them upside down and ended up with over 30 roses.... I took the stem off ( just kept the orse it self) and put them together in a topiary it looks so beautiful as I put potpurri on the bottom of the pot and a pretty burgunndy bow....

I have always put the dried rose petals in pretty glass containers. Which I set in different places through out the house. They don't smell but they have eye appeal!
