Mix water stain in equal parts with water, and apply this wash to the wooden stool with a foam brush. Let the wash dry. Pink was used on the sides, blue on the top and green on the edges of the legs.
On the top of the stool, draw widely spaced horizontal wavy lines from side to side with a pencil. Then draw widely spaced vertical wavy lines.
Paint every other space of the design on the top of the stool with gold acrylic paint. It will resemble a checkerboard except that the "squares" are random wild shapes created by the wavy lines. Let the paint dry.
Make a dot of paint on the legs, using the end of the handle of a foam brush. Dip the tip of the handle in gold paint, and apply the paint to the legs.
Paint a vine down the edge of the legs with green paint.
The shelf is going to hang on the wall, so you'll want to paint the bottom.
Draw a flower-and-leaf pattern on paper, and trace it onto the face of the shelf with carbon paper. Paint the design with acrylic paint. Glue buttons around the perimeter of the flower.
Drill a hole in the center of the flower. Insert the clockworks, and thread the hands and the pendulum on the clock.
Hang the clock on the wall.
