Boil Water In A Paper Cup (Or Kindling Points)

1 Unwaxed paper cup
Water to fill cup
Open fire or Candle flame

What to do: Fill the unwaxed paper cup with water and set it over the fire or candle flame. The cup will NOT burn, even when the water starts to boil.

What happens: For the paper to burn, it must reach its kindling point. The water draws heat away from he paper and prevents the paper from reaching the kindling point. When the water boils away, the cup will burn.

NOTE: Please use a paper cup that is unwaxed. If you don't the wax will catch on fire.

Chemical Volcano

1 Empty 25oz. plastic bottle
1 tb Liquid dish detergent
Few drops red food coloring
1 c Vinegar
1 1/2 c Warm water
2 tb Baking soda

Build a mound of dirt around the bottle, keeping the top of the bottle open. Combine the liquid detergent and food coloring in the bottle. Add 1 cup vinegar. Pour in the warm water almost to the top. In a spoon, blend the baking soda with a little tap water to moisten it and then quickly pour into the bottle. Your children will want to try this several times in a row.

Coffee Grounds Dough

2 c Used, dry coffee grounds
1/2 c Salt
1 1/2 c Cornmeal
Warm water

Mix dry ingredients together. Add enough warm water to moisten.

This dough has a unique texture and is good to roll, pat, and pound.

Dryer Lint "Paper Mache"

3 c Dryer lint
2/3 c Flour
2 c Water

Mix water and lint together in a large saucepan, stirring well. Slowly add flour, mixing well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture holds together, forming peaks. Pour out onto several layers of newspaper to cool.

Use mixture over a base, such as a box, balloon or bottle, spreading like paper mache. Dry 4 to 5 days. Store unused air tight. Keeps only 4 to 5 days.

Dryer Lint Clay I

1 1/2 c Lint from the dryer
1 c Water
1/2 c Regular flour
2 dr Wintergreen mint flavouring
Old newspaper
Paint

Place the lint in a saucepan and cover it with the water.
When the lint is saturated, add the flour and stir until it is smooth.
Add the drops of wintergreen oil flavouring.
Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it forms peaks and holds together.
Pour it onto newspaper to cool.
Shape and model figures, or cover a form with it, such as a balloon.
Allow to dry for 3 to 5 days, then paint and decorate as required.

Dryer Lint Clay II

3 c Dryer lint
2 c Cold or warm water
2/3 c Flour
3 Drops oil of cloves*
Old newspapers
Saucepan

Stir lint and water in saucepan. Add flour and stir to prevent lumps. Add Oil of Cloves. Cook over low and stir until mixture forms peaks. Pour out and cool on newspapers. Sape over boxes, bottles, balloons or press into a mold

Makes 4 cups. Dries in 3-5 days, very durable and hard Dries smooth if pressed into a mold, dries rougher if shaped over an object.
