Memory Board/Table top decoration for displaying your favorite photos or momentos.

Materials:

Gimp upholstery trim
Foam board
Fabric
Ribbon
Upholstery tacks
Paper to make pattern
Scissors
Metal ruler
Craft knife
Cutting mat
HeatNBondŽ fusible web
Iron
Straight pins
Stick & HoldŽ adhesive

Decide on the width and height of each foam-board panel for the four-paneled memory board, and cut them out, using a craft knife with a cutting mat underneath to protect the work surface.
Decide on the design for the top of the board. Vivian used an arched steeple-top design that came to a point. She made a template for the arch from paper, cut it out, and traced around it at the top of each of the four panels of foam board. Use a craft knife to cut out the top design.

Use the template to draw the pattern on the paper side of the fusible web. Place the fabric right side down on the work surface. Iron the web to the wrong side of the fabric. Cut off the excess fabric around the web.
Remove the paper backing from the web. Place the fabric, web adhesive side down, onto one of the foam-board panels. Iron the fabric to the foam board. Keep the iron moving across the fabric so the foam board won't get too hot and melt. A medium iron setting is best.
To make sure the ribbon crisscrosses are evenly spaced, start at the bottom edge of the foam-board panel, and stick a straight pin into the foam edge of the panel. Measure up the side 5", and push a straight pin into the foam edge. Continue all the way up each side.

Cut ribbons long enough to reach from one pin placement to the next diagonal pin placement on the opposite of the board -- plus a little extra to pull around to the back of the panel. Place the ribbons on the foam board in crisscross fashion, working from the bottom pin on one side and crossing diagonally to the next pin on the opposite side. Place the next ribbon at the bottom pin on the opposite side, and cross diagonally to the next pin on the opposite side. Continue working up the panel until the top pins are reached.

Take the pins out of the sides of the foam board, and push them back into the foam through the crisscrossed ribbons at each crossing.

Turn the panel over. Apply a 1" piece of Stick & Hold adhesive to the back of one ribbon, bring it around to the back of the foam board panel, and stick it to the back. Do the same with each ribbon.
