Question

Does anyone have a recipe for home-made deodorant? I have recently heard that the aluminum used in commercially prepared antiperspirants is harmful to us because it gets into our bodies through our skin. I know that deodorant (not antiperspirant) for men is easy to find. I haven't been so lucky as to find anything nice for a woman. Can any of you help? Thanks!

Wink Homemade Deoderant

Now, I must tell you that I have NEVER tried this recipe! I get an e-mail newsletter from freelipstick.com with lots of beauty recipes in it, and this was one of them. If you decide to try it, Good Luck!!

Stick Deodorant
4 ounces cornstarch
2 ounces baking soda
1 ounces liquid chorophyll
2 ounces vodka
2 ounces distilled water
8 ounces beeswax
10-15 drops of honeysuckle, rose, coriander or essential oil of your choice.
Mix all ingredients except wax and chorophyll in a bowl, stir thoroughly. Melt
wax in top of a double boiler over very low heat, remove from heat. Add the
other ingredients and blend well. If the wax thickens too much to be workable,
heat again. As the mixture begins to cool, but before it hardens, add the liquid
clorophyll and essential oils. Pour into molds. Let harden. Remove from molds.
Store in a tightly closed container away from heat to avoid shrinkage.

Smile I've been making my own deoderant for years...

I have extreme allergies to whatever the heck chemicals they put in antiperspirants, and even some deoderants- so I started making my own a long time ago.

This one's quick, easy, and efficient- and you more than likely don't even need to head to the store for specialty items. Unlike the other recipe, though- you can't form it into a stick. Sorry!

Ingredients:
Baking soda
Water
Favorite perfume or scented oil (optional)

What you need:
A container- I use a 35mm film container, myself. It keeps it moist)

What to do:
Mix in about 3 parts baking soda to one part water- or until you get a smooth paste. Add in a drop or two of the perfume or oil. Dig your finger into the paste, and apply! Make as much or as little as you like at a time.
