Started this for my daughter's best friend's wedding shower, and it went over like dynamite!
When sending out invitations to wedding or engagement showers.. include one or two blank recipe cards...ask the recipient to write their favorite recipe on the card, and include it with some of the ingredients or utinsels needed for the recipe...The little package can be wrapped and placed in the "Wishing Well" if there is one, or just used as a little extra..... Really went over well with the brides-to-be.... buying all those ingredients, spices, and tools etc. is really expensive as we all know... Afterwards, Take all the recipe cards and put them in plastic sleeves in a notebook. Pages can be decorated, pictures of the shower put in, anything that you want. I also put a little note in about the joining of two families, and sharing family recipies.. you know... all that soupy stuff! NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FIND A SITE FOR "FREE" RECIPE CARDS! An alternative to this is for baby showers...same kind of notebook, but make your own "Dr. Spock" type book... cards with helpful hints on "What to do when baby....." |

I do something similar to this for baby showers. I decorate a basket with lace, beads and ribbon roses and fill it with stuff that the baby needs as soon as it comes home. Like spices etc, this stuff gets expensive. The basket is used by the mother later to hold tiny gloves, hats etc or small toys.

Hi mculr71,
I hadn't been to those sites in awhile, but I went back to Country Clipart.com and checked just now. I don't see a link there any more for free recipe cards, but she does have some wonderful free graphics. Go to http://www.countryclipart.com . Click on "Enter". Next screen, click "Free Graphics" at the top right side of the page. Next screen, scroll down and select the type of free graphic you want. For example "Country Lane Set", "Country Apple Set", etc. If you have Microsoft Word, and set up the page size to 3" x 5" or 4" x 6", (under "file: page setup") you can import the graphics and make your own recipe cards. Hope this helps. |
