do you have any kind of sewing skills (by machine is easier)...

measure the fattest part of a plain glass vase, then measure the height...add 2 inches to the height.

this will represent the finished height / width of the wrap.

head to Joann Fabrics and purchase double the height of holiday fabric, and some batting.

when you get home, lay out the fabric and place the batting in the center, then fold over both sides and sew at the middle seam...and sew in the sides.

when completed, wrap around your vase and tie with co-ordinating ribbon abour the thin part of the vase.

this is called Teasel -- you can find them along any ditch, roadway, wherever --

using gloves, cut them with about 2 inches left of the stem.

materials you need:

black felt strips, approximately 1" long
black felt circles (just slightly bigger than your push pins)
black push pins
silver straight pins (or push pins)
ornament hooks or fishing line

once you cut your teasel, put a black push pin into the place where you cut the stem. this creates a nose.

take 2 black felt circles and place them parallel to one another on the bottom of the teasel and push in with silver pins...this creates the eyes.

at the "rear" (or top) of the Teasel, use another silver push pin and place on 1 black felt strip...this creates the tail.

CAREFULLY "hook" in an ornament hook on the center of the Teasel (or body), or you can wrap fishing line around the "body" for hanging.

Christmas Porcupines have been created.
