Make Your Own Hair Products

Make Your Own Hair Products

Love what hair products do for your hair, but hate what they do to your wallet? Then, try making your own. You can whip up your own line of hair care products in minutes.

Hair Spray
Looking for a natural and wallet-friendly hair spray to keep your 'do in place? Then, give this simple, two-ingredient recipe a try:

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 20 minutes or less

What You Need:
1 lemon
2 cups water
A pot
A strainer
An empty spray bottle

Here's How:

Slice the lemon into wedges.

Place in a pot, and cover with two cups water.

Boil until half of the liquid remains.

Allow to cool. Then, strain, and place in a spray bottle.

If the finished spray feels sticky to the touch, dilute it with a bit of water.
Then, store your hair spray in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Add a Tablespoon of rubbing alcohol to the recipe, and the hair spray can be stored at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Have dry hair? Then, try an orange instead of a lemon.

Customize the scent of your hair spray by adding a couple drops of your favorite essential oil.

Be sure to label the contents of your bottle.

Hair Gel
Making your own hair gel is as easy as 1-2-3. Give it a try, and enjoy great hair for less coinage.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes or less

What You Need:
1/2 to 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
1 cup warm water
Essential oil (optional)

Here's How:

Dissolve half a teaspoon of gelatin in the warm water.

Add more gelatin as needed to reach the desired consistency.

Fragrance with a few drops of your favorite essential oil (optional), and your hair gel is ready for use.

Store hair gel in the refrigerator between uses to prolong its life.

Need more or less hair gel? Just maintain the ratio in the recipe, and you can make as much or as little as you need.

Leave-In Conditioner
Battling a head full of tangles and frizz? Fight back with this frugal leave-in conditioner recipe

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 minutes or less

What You Need:
An empty spray bottle
Hair conditioner
Water

Here's How:

Fill the spray bottle with one part conditioner and four parts water.

Shake to combine.

Then, spray in your hair to remove tangles and tame frizz.

Shake before each use.

For safety, be sure to label the contents of the bottle.

Beso :Strawberry and Honey Clay Mask

Ingredients:
1 medium ripe juicy strawberry
1/4 teaspoon honey
2 tablespoons kaolin clay

Blending Procedure:

Mash strawberry in a small bowl. There may be chunks left but make sure it is well mashed.

Add honey and stir to combine.

Add clay a little at a time, stirring constantly until all the clay is incorporated. Add more clay if the mixture is too runny. The mixture should be chunky but spreadable.

Spread mask in a thick layer onto face with fingertips or cosmetic brush.

Leave on face for 15-20 minutes.

Rinse off with cool water.

Beso Nutritious Clay Scrub & Mask

2 tablespoons cosmetic clay
(or 1 tablespoon powdered full cream goat's milk)
1 tablespoon colloidal oatmeal (cosmetic grade oat flour or just use very finely ground whole oats)
1 tablespoon wheat germ flakes (in your grocer''s cereal aisle)
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt (for rejuvenation)
7 drops Egyptian Rose Geranium Essential Oil (great for mature skin)

Blending Procedure:

Mix all ingredients together and place in an airtight container.

Combine 1 tablespoon of the mixture with enough warm water to create a nice paste. Work in circular motions applying to the face. Allow the product to remain on the skin while you rest for a few minutes. After it has dried completely, rinse with warm water, blot dry.

Beso : For Lips

Ingredients:
6 grams St. John's Wort infused extra virgin olive oil
10 grams avocado butter
4 grams alkanet infused sweet almond oil
6 grams fractionated coconut oil
10 grams beeswax
a pea-sized amount rose concrete
a pea-sized amount kaolin (China clay)

Blending Procedure:

Combine olive oil, avocado butter, fractionated coconut oil, sweet almond oil and beeswax in a heat proof measuring cup with a pour spout and place in a hot water bath. Once the beeswax has melted, remove from heat. Stir well. I use disposable pop sickle sticks to stir.

Add rose concrete and kaolin and stir again to ensure an even mix.
Make sure the kaolin is completely broken up and dispersed.

Pour into lip balm jars, tins or tubes
and allow to cool before using.

Enjoy!!
