Any place is a good place for a nap when you have your Nap Sack with you. This light weight sleeping pad is just right for little ones to carry to Grandma’s house or pre-school.
Materials:
• 3⁄4 yd. 60" outdoor canvas
• 1 5⁄8 yds. outerwear fleece OR 1 1⁄4 yds. one color fleece (bed and pillow) and 1 yd. contrast (blanket)
• 2⁄3 yd. 1" webbing
• 2 pkgs. extra wide double fold bias tape
• 1⁄4 yd. 3⁄4" sew-in Velcro®
• 2⁄3 yd. high-loft batting
• thread
• CHACOPEL pencil
Cut:
• (1) 23" X 41" piece canvas
of batting:
• (1) 23" X 41" piece (bed)
• (1) 20" X 20" piece (pillow)
of fleece:
• (1) 23" X 41" piece (bed)
• (1) 20" X 20" piece (pillow)
• (1) 31" X 36" piece (blanket)
• (2) 4" pieces Velcro®
Directions: 1⁄2" seam allowance
1. Bed: Stitch each hook portion of Velcro® to right side of canvas as shown. This will become the top edge.
OPTIONAL: Applique´ a design or child’s initials on the outside of what will become the top flap (the opposite end from Velcro®).
2. Mark stitching lines on right side of fleece as shown.
3. With raw edges even, sandwich the batting between wrong sides of the canvas and fleece bed pieces.
4. Stitch raw edges with a large zigzag stitch to secure all layers.
5. With fleece side up, stitch through all layers on marked lines.
6. Center webbing on the canvas side, over the stitching that is 11" from the end and baste. Stitch a reinforcement “X” through the webbing 1" in from raw edges as shown.
7. Pillow: RST, fold fleece in half. With raw edges even, stitch batting to one side at side seams. Trim batting from corners. Turn.
8. Center and baste raw edge of pillow on narrow edge of fleece side (top) of the bed.
9. Blanket: Finish narrow ends and one long side of blanket as desired.
10. Center and baste remaining raw edge of blanket to one long side of bed.
11. Slightly, round corners of bed and bind edges with bias tape.
12. Stitch loop portions of Velcro® to bottom edge of fleece side of bed, 4" in from side edges. Fold bed up and go!
