Materials:
Small (about 45 oz) bleach bottle for body and detergent bottle for head and ears; neck should fit closely in neck of bleach bottle (we used 9" Dawn or Joy Non-Ultra)
China marker or permanent felt tip
Black paint for plastic
Flat paintbrush
Tracing paper
Pinking shears
Fun Foam scraps: yellow and green
36" of white florist’s wire; wire cutters
Low-temp glue gun
Two 10 mm movable eyes
2" x 101/2" fabric for tie
Black chenille stem (optional)
Instructions:
Wash and dry bottles, removing labels. Remove caps. Turn detergent bottle upside down; lower wedge section with opening will become the cat’s head. Draw ears on front up from top of head using marker. Cut off bottle around ears with scissors.
Paint head and bleach bottle solid black as directed. Let dry.
Trace green nose and yellow mouth patterns (page 2). Using pinking shears, cut mouth from foam. Cut four 8" whiskers from wire.
Glue eyes to head. Glue center of whiskers together behind nose. Glue on mouth. Glue neck of head into neck of body so that handle is at side as a tail.
Cut 1" off end of fabric strip. Fold ends of long strip to meet at center back; wrap short strip around center to form bow tie; glue closed. Glue tie to front of neck, or insert chenille through back of center loop and fasten around neck.
