Patriotic Mailbox

Materials needed:
Mailbox
1 yd V.I.P.™ By Cranston Stars and Stripes fabric
Plaid® Outdoor Mod Podge®
Waterbase Sealer, Glue and Finish
Tape measure
Scissors
1" wide flat paintbrush

1) Use the tape measure to measure the length of your mailbox, then the width from
one edge going over the "hump" to the other edge. This is the size of the fabric
you will cut to cover your mailbox.
2) To make it easier to work on your mailbox, you may want to raise it up off of
your work table. Place 2-3 soup cans of the same height underneath it to raise it
up. Brush a coat of Mod Podge® over the entire mailbox. Lay the fabric in
position on the mailbox over the Mod Podge®. Smooth out the air bubbles. Apply
several thin coats of Mod Podge® over the fabric, allowing 15 minutes to dry
between coats. Allow your mailbox to dry for 72 hours before placing outdoors.
3) Decorate the ends of your mailbox by either cutting out the whole shape of the
end from fabric, or cut shapes to add on such as stars (see photo). Don't forget to
leave a space on the front of your mailbox for your family name.
Other ideas: Try adding some fabric to the mailbox post. Cover some clay pots or any
other outdoor items to coordinate with your mailbox.
While all possible care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of this pattern, we are not
responsible for printing errors or the way in which individual work varies.
