WIRE & PANTYHOSE BUTTERFLY

Materials:

You will need 2 clothes hangers or stiff wire.
2 pair of knee high pantyhose in desired colors.
Chenille stems for the body & antenna.
Strong thread, needle nose pliers, wire cutters
. Glitter paint for decorating the wings.

Directions:

Cut clothes hanger 1-2" below the hook part.
Straighten the hanger.
Bend one end to the center,
make a hook using needle nose pliers
& pinch closed around the hanger.
Repeat for the other end.
You should have what looks like a pair of wings now.
You may have to shape it a little.
Repeat the process for the other hanger
but make it about 4" shorter.
These will be the lower wings.
Insert one wing into pantyhose,
pull tight & tie with strong thread.
Trim off excess pantyhose.
Repeat for the other wing.
You will use 1 knee high for each wing side.
Repeat for the other pair of wings.
Holding the center of the wings together
wrap tightly with a piece of wire or strong thread.
BODY:
Cut a 8" long piece of loopy chenille (LC).
Fold in half & make a twist 2" from the fold.
Place the center of the wings between the 2 free ends
of the LC & twist the stems close to the wings.
It should look like your butterfly has a body now.
Twist the free ends of the LC closed.
Take a chenille stem, fold in half,
poke one end between the twisted end of the LC,
slide to the fold & twist.
Curl the ends around a pencil. Antenna made.
Decorate the wings with glitter paint as desired.
